I traveled here for the eclipse and for the most part very much enjoyed my stay in this very clean and pleasantly laid out hotel and especially the lovely area itself! Vermont is fantastic!Traveling from out of state one of the things to keep in mind is that cell phone service is very spotty if non-existent here for some providers. I was able to overcome this by using the Wifi calling feature on my phone (the hotel Wifi is very fast). I cannot fault the owners or hotel staff for this... it is what it is.My only complaint is the noise or potential thereof. The walls and floor is thin, even on the top floor. For the most part all was great but I wonder if it was due to coincidence. One jarring moment was on the night before the eclipse where it sounded like a party was taking place either below or to the side of the room. The mumbling sounds and bassy noise coming from the walls was clearly audible not just for myself but for my companion. I was on the verge of making this known but fortunately between around 11 and 12 midnight the noise died down. Given that this probably cannot be corrected by any engineering or noise dampening system, when signing into the hotel if they would just have made it a requirement from guests to hold no parties or to be respectful of other guests after a certain hour, say 11 PM, this hotel would be PERFECT. I don't know whether it was just rare bad luck or not, but that is my only recommendation and what keeps this review from being 5 star. Thanks for reading.

Quaint little lodge located only 30 minutes from Mt. Snow and Magic Mountain! Staff is super welcoming, price is excellent, and they've always got free snacks out (we got some great brownies one night as well). Rooms are also very clean. Make sure to say hi to the cat in the lobby! :)Nearby activities: Within an hour of a plethora of ski resorts.Food & drinks: Decent complimentary breakfast and free snacks are always out and available!

Great family motel that is clean and comfortable. There is a full market just down the road where you can get groceries or get a sandwich, soup, and other prepared dishes. There are gas pumps too.The lodge at West River is convenient to other attractions, skiing, and snowmobile trails. The ride on 30 North from Brattleboro is beautiful, make sure you pay attention to speed limits, especially in Newfane!Don't think twice - stay at The Lodge at West River.

Great place to stay! David and Oliver were great host. Very clean and comfortable. Always had snacks and drinks available. The girl working there was super nice and helpful too. Nice sitting rooms to relax or play a game. Decent breakfast every morning. A must stay if in the area!Nearby activities: Maple syrup store footsteps away!

Stayed here for 2 nights. This place has been re-done beautifully. Very nice, clean rooms at a very affordable price, comfortable bed, good shower pressure (although the shower head was a little small and I wish the rusty radiators in the bathroom were painted as nicely as the rooms). The man who checked us in was very friendly and helpful and the motel was quiet. Great lounge upstairs with books and games. Breakfast was packaged items but I did enjoy a yummy maple glazed donut. We would definitely stay here again!!!

I stayed here on February 4-6th and I have to say that it is the cutest place ever! The rooms are super clean and room decor was very inviting. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about things to do around town and they even took the time out to Google places for me. It was very cold the weekend we went but our room was always warm and toasty. I loved the little breakfast in the morning even tho we ate out every morning it was still nice to be able to grab a piece of fruit or a granola bar for later. I also loved that I could get tea or hot chocolate anytime during the day. I will definitely come back in the spring to go hiking. Thank you again!!!

Just spent a great Birthday/Labor Day weekend here. We often take day trips to the area and the Lodge always caught our eyes. Check in was friendly and attentive. The room was clean and comfortable. We really liked having a small fridge and a microwave. Breakfast helped us start everyday right with plenty and delicious food choices in an inviting set up. Owners and staff always very friendly. We look forward to enjoy the outside sitting areas on a future stay.

The Lodge at West River is a comfortable, great-value hotel located close to Brattleboro, skiing areas, and a lake. It's on a main road, but traffic noise wasn't an issue. The room was clean and smelled wonderful. The king size bed was cozy and the mattress felt new.The hotel owners seem like wonderful people. They appear to truly care about the guest experience. There were some small touches that demonstrated their concern including a bag of microwave popcorn in the room and plenty of refreshments available in the common area. There was an extra blanket in the room along with a power outlet strip next to the bed. They even provided real Kleenex and not the 1-ply tissue paper usually found in hotels.

We booked two rooms for three nights while skiing at Mt Snow, and absolutely loved our stay here! The rooms are very large, beautifully decorated with huge, comfortable beds, and immaculately clean. The owners are wonderful and helpful, and the Continental Breakfast incorporates local food items (we loved the delicious jams and appreciated the power bars out for skiing energy!) We were fortunate to stay whilst the lovely Christmas decorations were up, and we loved the antique chairs and items throughout. There are plenty of books and board games upstairs for free use. The owners were kind to let us store our suitcases after checkout while we went to Mt Snow. The owners have recently purchased the lodge, and the care and effort they have put into the cleanliness, comfort, and aesthetics are truly noted and appreciated!

Decided to check out t the Lodge as part of a quick getaway to VT. Super friendly and professional service. Very clean - spotless! and well maintained rooms. Bed very comfortable, reading light bright enough. Bathroom has plenty amenities. This place is a delight and I wish the the owners all the very best with their endeavor. well done guys!PH and PS in the morning there is a complimentary tea/coffee, muffins set up as well.

What a great hidden gem! The room was clean, the heat worked, the water got hot, the paint isn’t chipped and the bed was very comfy. It was a little noisy but overall I felt safe and comfortable. The plus was the breakfast! Hard boiled eggs, yummy muffins, herbal teas and many other options. I appreciate the LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 welcoming and that pets are also welcomed. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be back! 😊

Great local accommodations. We felt like we were staying in a bed and breakfast but with more privacy. The owners were friendly and very accommodating. They offered to clean the snow and ice off of our car and they were out shoveling snow off the parking lot at 6:30 a.m. Clean accommodations in a beautiful location. Highly recommend!

We were stuck due to major flooding on VT Route 30 and couldn't get to Bromley or back down to Brattleboro. We were so fortunate to drive by this well-lit establishment. The owners were so gracious and accommodating especially after they said they had no more pet friendly rooms. They didn't want us stranded and found us a wonderful, large room at nearly 11pm which was after hours. The mattress was fantastic and the bed seemed like a Super King (my feet didn't hang over and I am nearly 6' 2"!). Great hot water and pressure plus very clean with nice touches like earplugs. It was totally quiet. We had to leave before their 7AM breakfast but I am sure it would be appealing given their creativity and attention to detail. Highly recommend this spot! Thank you again.

We had a chance to visit the lodge and loved our time there - wonderful owners, clean rooms, great rates, excellent views and loads of fresh Vermont air - we would definitely put guests up here! There's a nice seating area with a fire to enjoy the views across the valley in the evening, and amazing star-gazing opportunities after dark!

Saw an ad for this place on FB, $71 a night, breakfast included. They had just gotten 20 inches of powder snow so we did a quick getaway. The room was on the small side but was perfect for what we wanted. Very clean, bathroom had a tub and shower. Refrigerator, microwave, TV w/cable,pet friendly, close to skiing.

The room was clean and comfortable, more like a B&B than a chain hotel.... very Vermonty. The owners were very nice. Nice continental breakfast area with a large selection of teas and coffees, fruit, snacks. Delicious muffin! Great to find something closer to my friend's house than going all the way back to Brattleboro. Would definitely stay there again.

I loved staying at the Lodge! Every detail was so well thought out, it was warm, cosy and super comfortable to stay.I went there with my mom and our car broke down. The hotel staff were amazing and helped us find a way to get to our next destination. They were super sweet!Thank you guys so much!

Great little inn/motel. Pet friendly and the owners are just so kind. Extremely clean!!!! Cleanliness and service more on the lines of a 4 star hotel. Decor is older but its clean and new and suites the Inn. Very VT!!! We will stay there every year moving forward. Extremely happy all around!!!! AM coffee and muffins/fruit is a bonus!!!! A must stay if traving to Townshed/Newfaine area.

The Lodge at West River was like a sweet bed and breakfast. The room was clean, with rustic wooden furnishings and an updated tv w/Roku and a microwave/mini-fridge/coffee maker. A packet of microwaveable popcorn was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious, with an extensive selection of teas, along with coffee, berries, pastries and toast. I appreciated that the flatware, cups and plates/bowls were compostable. The backyard overlooked a lovely hay farm, with a fire pit area and picnic tables out front. Owners were very kind and helpful. The only drawback is that it’s located next to a main thoroughfare, but that didn’t bother me. The Lodge is LGBTQ-friendly.

visited over the 2019 summer — no frills but clean with a sunny and cozy “dining” area where you can enjoy some breakfast.the new owners were slowly but surely working on updates and improvements. if ever in the area again i’d book if for no other reason than to see how they’re coming along! (3 stars only because this is not a luxury hotel)
