The people here were so friendly and helpful. The food was homemade and delicious, and they even gave use homemade pop tarts for all the kids free of charge. Also some of the best ice cream we’ve ever had.

Has been over a year since I stopped and purchased a sandwich here. They were excellent. Today things have changed. I bought a Flatlander 10” sand which. At home when I unwrapped it I noticed no meat, cheese showing on then ends of the roll. Opening it I observed to clumps of meat, one on each end. Mustard spread in only part of the space and more on one side the the other. The square of cheese sort of in the middle. Using a fork i separated the thin slices of meat over the roll, providing minimum for each bite.Very disappointing to learn that they just throw a sandwich out with out pride in what they produce. Price was around $10. Not bad in this economy but a sandwich not well made is not one I will go back to.

Our family has been coming to Halls Lake for many many years. It's our go to place for everything. Always friendly. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are great! Love their knickknacks every year! Purchase something new every year.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting the charming town of Newbury and its Village Store. I ordered a cheesteak sandwich and an incredible tasting cream puff from the bakery section of the store. Both were absolutely amazing along with the two individuals who helped me with my order. This was an extremely pleasant store to visit and I will be back! Highly reccomend if you're in the area!

A REAL country store, hot pizza, sandwiches made to order. Fancy pastries. 0utside in the summer, a beautiful view into New Hampshire where we sit with our Maple Ice Cream cones from the ice cream stand next door. We come here a lot. Update 10/7/23: See the photos. Best deal on ice cream. Ice cream open until the end of November.

We drove over a hour to get a slice of the blueberry cake cheesecake. Worth the drive!!!It’s made there in the bakery.Whoever owns the store now is doing a amazing job. Keep it up.We visit every year and will be back.

Wow, just wow. Excellent food and scenery second to none. Don't be fooled by the tables up front - make your way to the backyard where the real ambiance happens. And the ice cream was fantastic too. We debated if the Vermonter would be too much but it was heavenly (maple soft-serve with maple syrup and crushed maple candy). Prices are very reasonable

If you want an amazing panini or sub, this is your place! It's a general store so that's fun already, but they're eats are on par with some of the best restaurants I've ever been to; if not better. The Club Panini is my favorite, piled super high with ham, turkey, bacon, fresh spinach, tomatoes, mayo and I sub private for the standard Swiss. I could eat one every day. The hubs gets their prime rib steak and cheese and it's also delicious. Right on route 5 8n Newbury so def stop by if you're leaf peeping or coming up to ski. You won't regret or forget it. 😁

Always great service! The sandwiches are AMAZING! There's always some incredible new thing to try in the dessert case! Now they have the pizza oven and the ice cream shop and kayak rentals; what more can you ask for? I love Newbury General Store where it feels like family every time I visit.

I have been here a couple times and the most recent visit on Thursday was truly a disappointment. Ordered 3 sandwiches, 2 paninis and 1 cold sub. They were all very thin and had significantly less in them than every other time we have ordered. One of the paninis was missing several ingredients that come standard. Not at all worth the price paid for any of the sandwiches.Side note: the store has a porta potty for customer use and unfortunately my son had to use it on this visit. I don't expect much from a porta potty but this one was almost overflowing and well overdue to be dumped. I almost vomited when I entered and saw just how disgusting it was. If my son wasn't desperate I never would have let him in there.

We used to order sandwhiches at least once a week, usually twice. They typically were loaded with meat, lettuce etc. Our past THREE visits the sandwhiches have had a quarter of the meat and one leaf of lettuce, not even fully covering the sandwhich. My boyfriend's BLT had three pieces of bacon total. In the past there had been a ton of bacon. The whole romaine head stump was split between two sandwhiches and there were ingredients we specifically asked to be left off the sandwhich and even confirmed she heard us; that were on the sandwhich and had to be picked off. We love the baklava, but we were given a half piece, and regular piece for the same price this last visit. So disappointing! 😔 To top it off my ice cream was filled with strawberry hershey kisses instead of maple ice cream. Nobody told me this allergen was filling the bottom of my cone instead of the ice cream I ordered. So if you're allergic to anything I would steer clear!

It takes me 1+1/2 hrs to get to Newbury one way. This isn't my first, nor my last food trip.The cinnamon rolls are delicious, I should've gotten another.This trip was for the Bailey's Irish cream cheese cake. Oh so well worth it.Who eats cheese cake by 10 am?Glad I brought 3 pcs 🐷🐖That's self discipline for me bc there's a huge selection of goodies

An awesome general store in a great old building in a beautiful little village. Don't expect a gift shop; expect a comprehensive selection of staples, wine, etc. The bonus is the great deli at the back of the store with huge, fresh, generous, reasonably priced sandwiches. Highly recommended.

Rented a pair of Kayaks and did the trek from ryegate dam to newbury crossing. There are some beautiful points along the way and a number of campsites available as well. The Village store is a great stop and has most everything you need including a great spot behind the store to enjoy your sandwich and ice cream after a solid day on the water!!

Such a cute general store. I popped in to see if there was a ATM and there wasn't BUT I had toake sure I left with a menu. The place smells like home. It's like your grandma is in the back whipping up baked goodies and delicious sandwiches. It's heavenly. They also have hand packed ice cream. They have everything else you could need or wan in a little grocery store/general store and then some. Ohh and they have a cute little cafe in back where you can sit down and eat the yummyness they serve in the deli area. Can't wait to go back.

Newbury is a beautiful old town and the Village store is an old fashioned store with all the current items you need but the layout and store front remind of days long passed. Take a trip down VT Rte. 5 and enjoy this little village and others along the way.
