Simply the BEST independent bookstore in the Northeast! We always plan a stop at the Northshire Bookstore when we are in Vermont. A wonderful place for adults, and a magical place for children (teens too). The staff is wonderful, warm, and they know books.

Wow, what a great bookstore. I’ve been to quite a few, especially as an author, and this one rivals even the Book Loft in Columbus, Ohio that has 32 rooms. I really enjoyed the layout of the store and that it was adjoined to a cafe. The sections were clearly marked, the inside felt cozy, the staff were nice, and they even had an upstairs for kids (with a really neat metal staircase).The bookstore itself is in a historic house, which is also really neat and it’s right in the middle of downtown. I really have nothing bad to say about it.

This place is amazing! Not only does it excel as a bookstore, it also excels in its selections of puzzles, toys, and other fun gifts! There is plenty of seating, it’s very family and kid friendly, there is a book for everyone here, and the decor is immaculate! I can’t say enough good things about this bookstore!

An excellent bookstore worth a stop or even a small detour.The selection of books is stellar and up-to-date.There are also candles, vinyl records, stationary, diaries, a cafe for food, coffee, signed books, rare books, and used books!!!

Absolutely terrific bookstore! Great recommendations of best sellers. You just want to wander around soaking in all their advice about your next read. This store has so many rooms filled with so many themes of different books. Besides having such a great collection, the building itself is a delight. The wooden shelves and homey New England comfort make this store a real gem. There is even a cafe with board games. The staff were nice too. I just can't say enough about this place.

The amount in the variety of books they have is fantastic! Their Legos and other toys meant for children are definitely overpriced. You can definitely get them cheaper online. But again everything else is fantastic including the atmosphere and their employees

Lovely store really enjoyed my time here. I was a little thrown off my the guy with glasses downstairs. He seemed very irritated when I was asking him questions about the store. But the staff in the upper section was very helpful and friendly. I'm excited to come get more art books!

This place is the Pringles of book stores! If you can only visit the store once, and not crave your next visit, you are from another planet. Books, puzzles, toys, trinkets and socks! Not just a great selection of books, but this place is the Swiss army knife of places to come when looking to get someone a gift. Valuable and collectible books, signed copies if books, a Pokémon and Magic card section, infant stuff, young adult books, this place has the perfect thing for everyone. Plenty of parking, employee reviews of books posted by them on the shelves, and even complimentary gift wrapping during the holidays! The store is laid out in a easy going and spacious way, and while they have so much, it never feels like it's falling in on you. If you're craving a coffee and light bite, they also have a little cafe attached. Visit the website, too! A true treasure in an already great part of VT.

Any time I travel I make it a point to locate a local bookstore. As they are few remaining. Mother nature changed my hiking plans for the day which I think was a blessing in disguise so that I would find this hidden treasure filled spot. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Every corner there was something new I just had to see. I could have stayed there for hours just exploring the many options to sit, stand, walk, talk, eat or all of the above. What a perfect opponent to slow down grab a book and some coffee or tea and just be. Everything else can wait. Do yourself a favor and remember this place. Bookmark it in your place of favorite places to stop by when traveling through.

When of my favorite bookstores ever, my family and I have been going there for over 17 years and have seen it expand and get better with time. The people that work there are fantastic and you should always try them for recommendations.I was there end of September 2018 the cafe was closed for renovations. You can easily lose yourself here with all the nooks and cozy places to sit with checking out the books.While i do buy books online, no online review can match the personalized recommendations I have received over the years. People that work there are truly passionate about books.

One of the best bookshops around. A magical place with a great selection of books and recommendations from staff.There is a large upstairs section for children, with both books and toys. There is also lots of gifting (non books) for adults, alongside cards and wrap.There is a coffee shop here too.Highly recommended a visit if you're in the area. Really is a magical place.

Loved this bookstore. It has a wonderful book selection with each section distinctively decorated. Great ambience that makes it an adventure to explore in this amazing shop. For all age groups. It is attached to a delicious coffee shop/ cafe which I highly recommend as well. Definitely make your way here. I went there 2x.

Old fashioned bookstore with lots of nooks and crannies to explore various themes. Staff curates an excellent selection. My kids spent many hours in first the children's corner and young adults after that.

I want to live in this beauty of a bookstore. Gifts (candles, jewelry, geek & tech items, and don't get me started on the paper goods) are interwoven seamlessly with adult books on the main floor - go up the beautiful wrought iron staircase & there's a clearly sorted, labeled, & fun! kid's section replete with tiny loft hideaway. I had so much fun discovering in this store.Even though I went later at night, I got a good sense of the staff through their handwritten staff picks dotting the walls. Found: a bantam pathfinder 69 edition of Bradbury's DANDELION WINE, Gessen's THE MAN WITHOUT A FACE, and a delightful cast iron piggy bank.

We visited with our grandson's, so finding childrens books and Pokémon collectibles was our focus. My grandson demonstrated that it was like a library by reading a book aloud to us. On my own own, I would have spent several hours looking thru new releases for myself.

An independent bookstore that’s jammed with books and lots of love! I was there on a quiet Friday morning but I’ve heard from the staff that the crowds will ramp up. It’s a beautiful bookstore with a great vibe and a sweet collection of greeting cards. Help is readily available but I prefer to get lost in the stacks. A haven for readers.

This is one of the best local bookstores I've been to ever(Thanks baby). There's a small Café upstairs that serves a delicious breakfast, lunch, and baked goods. Try the vegan sausage, egg, and cheese on multigrain bread.The store itself is 2 floors with new and used books amongst many other things you can find as gifts. They even offer a monthly subscription service for us book lovers. It was quiet first thing in the morning but picked up quick around the afternoon and somewhere I'll be bringing my kids to soon.
