My family went there for ski rental. They are very friendly and professional. My three teenage kids are all happy with their equipment. The equipment is well maintained. The owner Al also helped to adjust my husbands' own boots (slightly tight) to fit better . The rental price is reasonable. This is my best experience in ski rental. Thanks Roots! Isabel

Our group came here for ski rentals.Everyone was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. It was my first time skiing, so they gave me a lot of helpful tips and advice. They were fast and kind too. I’d definitely recommend!

Roots is the best price in town for rentals! There is something to be said for locally owned and operated small businesses such as Roots! The staff there are truly wonderful - especially given how demanding, entitled and difficult some customers tend to act these days (and let’s be honest, the customer is NOT always right!). I give everyone here props for always trying to provide top tier service!

I have been coming here for years with no issues, but unfortunately, i will now never be coming back.Rented ski boots today, but I made the mistake of only trying on 1 boot in the store assuming the other one would be fine.Reached the mountain and put on both boots in the car to find the tongue from the other boot detached. It didn't impact the fit of the boot, so I thought it was no big deal initially.Came back to return the boots and was charged $250 for "breaking their equipment."Employees were understanding, but the owner didn't care and wouldn't listen.Telling all my friends to not come here anymore.But want to emphasize that the employees and boot fitters are great, just the owner is unreasonable. Unfortunately, because of the owner, I can not recommend going to this store anymore.

Great experience renting for the day here! Booked a few rentals for our group for one day. Such helpful and kind staff, a really pleasant experience, and a selection comparable to the local resorts for better prices. Definitely plan to return and would recommend! Book ahead online if you can just to be safe.

Roots Ski and Snowboard Shop has the best rental value in Killington. I Have been skiing at killington for decades and this is the only place I recommend friends and family to rent from. You can’t beat their value. The entire staff is friendly and efficient, they get you in and out with all of the gear you need to have a great day or days on the mountain.

Manager is the most stubborn person I have met, lacking common sense. Employees insulted us behind our backs, overall not caring for the customer at all with their hidden "policies" everywhere.

My husband and I rented skiing and snowboarding gear here recently. As we walked out to our car after the initial pick-up we both said, "Wow, I think that was the smoothest and most pleasant rental experience I've ever had."Everyone we talked with was extremely kind and knowledgeable. The shop's hours and location made it easy to get in a full day on the mountain before dropping off our gear. The skis were easily the best I've ever rented (same for my husband and his snowboard) and the quality really elevated the whole experience. Highly recommend!

Staff is incredibly rude; the manager Al was absurdly patronizing when my friend returned the same skis/dimensions that were also Roots rentals, but with a different serial number. He refused to look up the serial number of the skis she returned, and said we had 30 minutes to go back and find the skis with the correct serial number at the mountain, otherwise she was going to get charge the full price of the skis. Our friends rented skis at the resort, and they said it was completely fine that they returned the same type of skis with a different serial number, and said that this type of thing happened all the time. If it’s a policy thing, I get it, but I was honestly shocked at how mean the manager was to us and how he did not make any effort to try to contact the family whose rental skis we had (probably so he could charge both parties for the swapped rentals). Anyway, basin is cheaper and nicer.

Out of a group of 6 people that rented from here 3 got bruises from their boots and couldn’t ski/snowboard anymore. Lost a whole day on the slopes because of their boots. After reading the comments I’m seeing other people had problems with their boots and broken equipment.Went to return the equipment in the morning, they didn’t want to refund for the day.From the comments I’m seeing I can confirm the following:- limited choice of (old) equipment- they literally refuse to refund anything no matter what- rude staff at the counterGo to other shops, they have better equipment and more to chose from.Replying to the rude owner:- boots were definitely not new, I did ask for newer ones to begin with, but I was told those were the best; they had mud and lots of scratches, and the technical person told me they look “dusty” because they were warn last season. So not sure how that’s called “new boots”.- there were 2 groups renting from your place same day, me and my friend just arrived earlier than the rest. Since other ppl than me had the same problem, seems it was the boots after all. Never happened before with other boots.Wished I paid $10 more at another shop than lose a full day on the track and have to go through reviews about bad services.Also, thank you for your rude reply and confirming what myself and other people have been stating.

I’m out $30 because they randomly changed their hours morning of, then claimed I was in the wrong and should’ve checked the website (which said 7am all week). The other rental shops around the area helped me out and were super friendly. Strongly suggest going elsewhere

Great skis, super friendly service, bad pricing policy. I initially rented regular skis - Elan Element 70's. They were very nice and the Salomon boots provided were great. They took care in fitting so that everything fit right. And, overall, their prices are much better than their competitors. My only complaint is that, after 2 days, I decided to upgrade to premium skis to better deal with the icy conditions at Killington. They told me that this brought me back to day 1. In the end, I wound up paying more for 2 days regular/3 days premium than I would have if I had paid for 5 days premium up front. Very disappointed in this policy.

Excellent, super friendly, and knowledgeable service. Although I am an experienced skier, it has been a few years since I last skied. My associate suggested for safety I go with a lower setting on the binding. Couldn’t have agreed more. We had a fun and more importantly safe trip thanks to the boys down at Roots!

Purchased reservations for skis 5 days in advance to pick up the morning of. When placing reservations website said they'd be open at 7am. We showed up and they were closed with website updated saying they now open at 8am. Had to get rentals from a different store, and asked to cancel our reservation. Was told that reservations had to be canceled 48 hours in advance to get refunded because "company policy". I suggest posting any change in hours on your website with the date the change will take place or else youll be screwing other people like me.

The staff here are incredibly rude and patronising. They had a horrible attitude towards us when we were returning our skis. Would recommend going to Basin Sports. They are also cheaper for the same skis

Store is run by a father and two sons, but looks like the oldest son is the manager now.While the majority of the staff was extremely friendly, the oldest son/manager was not and gave a poor experience.There was a Lack of effort when boot fitting.I rented for snowboarding and skiing. I had called the shop the evening before about not being able to make the return, but will return it the next morning when I rent my skis, they decided to charge me because the return was after 10am.My friend asked for poles at a certain size and received the wrong one.My skis also had issues as well.Good pricing for sure but unless the manager learns to provide better customer service, I won’t be returning.Truly sad that one person ruins the entire experience.

Manager/owner is incredibly rude. Selection is small. Plenty of better rental places around. Bought boots and decided I didn’t want them at the end of the day.Wanted to pay rental price instead.Apparently “All Sales are Final,” a fact they neglect to tell you. Manager refused to refund me despite only using the boots in a rental capacity. Absolutely terrible business ethics.Go to darkside or anywhere else. Plenty of places nearby.

The worst experience I've had. I've rented boots boards and bindings for over 10 years. The boots were old with holes, the board was rigged and theback foot toe binding snapped on the 1st run. I walk in for a refund and the staff was the most difficult to talk to. The equipment is in the worst shape and they wouldn't issue a refund for their equipment breaking. Would NOT recommend.

I had a rough time getting to Killington with my flight and rental car so I was pretty annoyed when I stepped into Roots. I needed a good experience to make up for the bad start to my vacation. The crew that was working Sunday, March 8th was incredible and answered all of my questions with great detail. They gave me very helpful pointers and knew that I was going to be using the equipment for 4 days so they made sure I was absolutely comfortable throughout my stay. I would 100% recommend this place if you find yourself in the area looking to rent equipment.

Great and friendly staff got my dad and I set up with some rental skis. Very knowledgeable about the skis and were very patient and worked with us to find the right fit for our boots. They have very competitive prices and we were more than pleased with the skis we rented.

Great Ski Shop! These guys really know their gear, and have a great selection of skis and snowboards for both beginners and more advanced types! Their prices are reasonable and they take excellent care of their equipment! I come here all the time for all my ski needs!
