I have been passing this place for years and have never entered, but the other day, I decided to check it out because they had the product below. Not only did I walk out of there with the canned fish, but I also left with other things. But most importantly, I had a great conversation with the amiable owner! I will most definitely be back here

Lovely people, and TONS of great specialty foods! Pretty affordable prices for the quality of the lunch items too - great sandwiches, caprese or blueberry grilled cheese are my fav!

Great sandwiches, freshly made to order with premium ingredients. I had the pulled pork sandwich, it came with crisp coleslaw on top which complimented the pork beautifully. My wife had a Cubano and was very happy with her choice, finished lunch off with a pecan square that was amazing. I recommend stopping by for a quick bite, you won't be disappointed!

I stopped in and ordered a black forest ham sandwich. It was prepared quickly and given to me with a smile. I was having a not so good day. I can tell you when the Chef and clerk smiledand gave me my food. It really brightened my day. The sandwich was prepared with fresh ingredients and it was delicious.Great job. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's small and crowded, and the service was exceptionally bad. I asked if they made their liverwurst and pate in house, and the guy behind the counter laughed! He laughed at me!? None of the things in the case have labels, So you have to ask what everything is. The two meat options I asked about featured soy, so I asked if there were any meat options without soy and was told no by the same guy that laughed at me (after he interrupted his coworker who was in the process of answering my question, presumably with quite a bit more grace than he could ever manage). I honestly think he was trying to get rid of me. I mean, every piece of meat they have has soy in it??! BUT WHY?? It was one of the most rude experiences I've ever had in Vermont. I don't know if he doesn't understand service, or doesn't understand food allergies, but either way I wouldn't give this man my money.

Great specialty shop. Cubano and Blueberry bacon grilled cheese were awesome. Only reason not 5 stars, a bit too pricey even considering the diversity of products and location. Wish Google would allow 4.5 stars. Super nice people. Keep up the good work!

We were camping in the area last weekend and this place came highly recommended. We stopped in for lunch and were surprised on what we found inside. This is not a sit-down restaurant, but a very clean, well stocked, and helpful local country takeout. The sandwiches were spot one perfect.The customers who were waiting to be helped, all were from the area and were very friendly. For being from out of state, it was a breath of fresh air to deal with very nice locals and staff made us feel like we are welcome.In conclusion, I highly recommend Gilfeather's for great food if you are in the area.

My favorite shop in Vermont. So many interesting treats, great beer selection and always a case full of quick and easy meals if I'm on the run. Very clean kitchen and the staff is super professional! I always feel like royalty! Stopped tonight right at closing an scored a hot apply pie!!! Highly recommend!

We stopped here twice on our vacation in VT. The food was so good the first stop we returned a two days later to get more. The food was well prepared and tasted delicious. The prices were fair and the food was worth the price. Staff was friendly and helpful. I recommend this as a stop for you when traveling close by.

For a store filled with amazing ingredients and at least three truffle based items, the sandwiches were easily something I could prepare at home. I was hoping for a new experience, but these are mediocre sandwiches with middling ingredients.

I just had what was probably the best sandwich of my life at Gilfeather's! The Spicy Blueberry Bacon Grilled Cheese - GET IT. Rick and Nan are both so kind and great to chat with. Not to mention the excellent variety of specialty sodas and other cool products (dog treats, hot sauces, etc.). I'll be back for sure!

The sandwiches we ordered were delicious. I tried the blueberry, bacon and Munster grilled cheese it was unique in flavor and tasty. The shop carries a variety of local and unique beverages and treats. I definitely plan to go back!

We came off a flight from Florida and Gilfeather's was on the way to our family's summer home. We stopped in for a lobster roll sandwich, which was ok . I believe the people in the white coats (chef) are the owners. Very suprised the female took one look at us, and put her head down. Didn't even acknowledge us. It doesn't matter what kind of day your having it takes one second to say "hi". I always wanted to stop at this little place. We came, we saw and we won't be back. Very disappointed. These people are not friendly business owners.

What a gem! We stop by here every time we drive from Oregon to Vermont. Excellent variety, and superior lobster rolls. It is obvious they research out each product they stock, as I have yet to come across a subpar product. We have purchased meats, cheeses, chips, beer, wine, truffle products, and of course, lobster rolls.We tried several lobster rolls in Burlington, and did not find one that compared to Gilfeather's.Maybe we should partner up and open one out here in Oregon!Thanks Rick Benson for the pleasant experience, as always.Your Oregon Regulars

While traveling in Vermont in the summer of 2020 we had our share of bad experiences with recommended places being closed or simply offering terrible food. Gilfeather's restored our faith in culinary high quality gourmet food where the owners take pride and care to offer the very highest quality and variety of food Vermont has to offer. To the person looking for liverwurst, this is not your place. Gilfeather's is a gourmet specialty store detail paid to each salad and food item from chocolate to olive oil. We ordered a broccoli salad with buttermilk dressing and cranberries, it was incredibly delicious. The Tomato spinach pasta was so flavorful and satisfying, I see why they need two trays on hand. Their Vermont cheese selection is exceptional, we're headed back today to get provisions for our hike. We can wholeheartedly recommend Gilfeather's. Absolutely 5 stars!

On our annual camping trip to Vermont we stopped by Gilfeather's (our favorite stop) to purchase Chef Rick's delicious assorted kinds of lasagne & Nancy's unbelievable peach pie for our dinner. As always we were not disappointed!!!!Would recommend stopping by & seeing for yourselves. See you soon Chefs Rick & Nancy on our next trip to Vermont....you guys are the BEST!!!!

So many of these reviews shocked me I just had to write my own. Friendly staff was quick to greet me behind protective plastic. I was admittedly zoned out and she had to repeat herself and still was glad to serve me. Mandatory masks for all customers, very important as a popular spot for the tourist type. They were not wearing masks but behind plastic, keeping distance, washing hands. It’s their place of business and they are married, they live locally and own a business so it’s safe to assume that customers coming to their store are the only real threat. The prices reflect the quality of food you’re getting. If you want cheap food there’s a McDonald’s right down the road. They have wonderful fresh foods that aren’t found at just any location.

The aroma walking in the door made me want to try and taste everything! You can tell the chefs love what they do. It shows in every tasteful of food and when you walk in. I am from NY and can not wait to go back. I would get food delivered if I could.

Gilfeathers is a GREAT local specialty store. Owned and run by a hard-working husband and wife team, the prepared food and sandwiches are fresh, creative and delicious. Best lobster salad! Very nice wine selection for the size of the store. Highly recommend!

If you're a certain type of person (white, in your late fifties or older, and on the slow side) definitely stop into this dingy little shop for wildly overpriced, lackluster "specialty food." If you're ANY other kind of person (funky and chatty, like myself, or worse yet, non-white, like my wife) your experience in this store will be much like what I would expect if I walked into the house of a total stranger and began asking them to make me something to eat. Honestly, I asked, like two questions about the unlabeled pans of mostly grey and tan assemblages in the case, and got the kind of eye-rolling, grunted, reluctant response that I would expect from an angry seventh grader.

Food is good. Had the Reuben which could use more coleslaw as it seemed to be mainly rye bread, pastrimi, cheese and a little later of slaw juice. Grilled cheese with bacon, spinach, Munster and blue berry preserve was original and tasty. Staff seemed a little gruff and overworked that we felt guilty ordering anything there, and those were the owners. We went because of a write up in a magazine but maybe it was just marketing as they hyped up how friendly and customer oriented they were... Hmm.

Super cute, "Vermonty" country store with wine, maple syrup, gourmet crackers, sausage, cheese, chocolate, and it's own little deli. Yummy and fun... but, the food in the counter doesn't always look the freshest. Plus, it's probably the priciest of all the country stores around here. Very quaint and worth visiting, but I still prefer Dakin Farms or the little chocolate shop off 22A.

Bought a cubano on my way down South. While I do not really know what an authentic cubano tastes like, this is what I imagine it would taste like.Also the people that run the establishment were very nice and informative.

Service and food was excellent as the owners spoke to the origin and freshness of the food. Also, about price, items are going to be more expensive if the meats are pasture raised and cheese jasper hill. Still, a $7.00 sandwich is very reasonable
