Helpful staff. Store has good selection of hardware. You might be better off going to a larger store for less common items. Great greenhouse in the spring. Grocery store has a little bit of everything. Good beer and wine selection. Deli sandwiches are delicious. So happy to have a store like this in Plainfield/ E. Montpelier.***Updating my review after a recent storm that left the entire area without power. Not sure if this store has a very powerful generator or happened to magically keep power. But they were open on Christmas Eve, had hot coffee, food, bathrooms, batteries, propane, you name it. So grateful to have a store that works hard to stay open when the power is out, even during the holidays.***

There is a deli inside that has THE BEST sandwiches w/ local cheeses. All items made with love from the sassy lady behind the counter. I didn’t catch her name but she was awesome! Everyone was nice

Rich and his staff are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Rich also stocks quality hardware, tools, paints, livestock feed, and a limited selection of grocery items. If you are hungry, the woman who runs the Deli (I think her name is Julie, but I'm terrible at remembering names) makes excellent breakfast sandwiches, wraps and sandwiches for lunch, and cakes and pies.

Went in to grab coffee and a breakfast sandwich and asked if there were any premade breakfast sandwiches. The response was "absolutely not, this isn't a gas station!" For one, I remember Plainfield Hardware doing pre-made breakfast sandwiches back in the day. Two, there were premade lunch sandwiches sitting in the cooler from the night before, so they do premade sandwiches, I guess just not the breakfast kind. You don't stay in business with attitude like that. I'll pay half price for a premade breakfast sandwich that's just as good at Maplefield's and doesn't come with a heaping side of attitude, heck I can even get gas at the same time!

The deli woman is incredibly rude. Overpriced hardware and products are the only other things they offer besides sarcastic customer service. I love supporting local but not this place. I’ve given it three tries now and have been disappointed every time. I won’t be going back.

Car dolly broke down literally right in front of their store right at closing time. Gracious workers let us buy a breaker bar and socket to change a tire (forgot tools at home). Bought the wrong one and they let us exchange after hours. So grateful!

THIS STORE IS VERY OVERPRICED ON EVERYTHING THEY SELL...BE IT FOOD OR HARDWARE OR EVEN FLOWERS AND PLANTS...IT'S A LOCAL MOM AND POP STORE...AND THEY ARE RIPPING OFF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY...MANY PEOPLE FEEL AS I DO...AND THUS REFUSE TO SHOP THERE...
