sadly, DVS has declined under the new ownership. It used to be our stop to pick up the Sunday paper, milk and other things; the new owner stopped carrying out of town papers despite feedback, so we go to Shaw instead. While we still shop there, I estimate that we have spent $1200 a year less on groceries than before.

I love this place. They have a little bit of everything. Their meats are the freshest I've ever bought. People are very friendly and its a pleasure going there. Always someone available to help you out. They care about their customers.

I'm getting gentrified out of Hardwick and checked out Newport and Derby. Lake is nice but Derby had a better vibe as a Monter. Main st Derby had some nice houses. I keep going north. Barre Plainfield Johnson Hardwick now maybe Derby. My Hardwick rent went from 650 to 850 with 200 heat. Cannot eat and have heat or medication pick 2 out of 3. Then your taking a sick day to get paid. Oh that's illegal. LoL

This place has gone down hill since the new owners took over. The staff isn't nearly as friendly as it used to be. No one said hello or even acknowledged customers in the store. I was absolutely astounded that the price for a whole chicken @ $5 per pound, was barely under the price of a steak elsewhere! The prices have gone up so much! DVS used to be the best place to go for quality deli meats at a good price. Now it's not worth going there.

This is a great store -- somewhere between a general store and a tiny supermarket. Their meat is excellent -- their steak Florentine is an elegant and quick to cook meal, and is absolutely lovely in presentation. It's flavorful as well. Their selection is limited by their size, but one can, for example, buy fresh organic Canadian bib lettuce grown a few miles north, or find a home-baked pie at a bargain. The service is gracious and the staff always has a friendly word. I will often bypass the larger stores when I shop in the area. I may spend a few dollars more than the big-box stores, but I'm happy to support a local business that cares about me.

Its small and has narrow aisles, but they have evrything, even a full service liquor store tucked discretely in the back left corner of the store. Excellent local pies cakes and pastries at fair prices. The reason they don't get 5 stars is because they have almost no organic food :-(

The store has everything for such a small place and the laundry mat is clean and cheap. The employees are nice and the prices are great. They have a tiny liquor store inside, which is great and there deli meats and deli staff are awesome.

Employees are very nice, friendly & helpful. Nice fresh produce & meat/seafood selections. Excellent baked goods (pies, cookies, breads, treats, etc.). Great deli, excellent service, with good fresh pre-made sandwiches & salads (garden, potato, bean, pasta salads, etc.) ready to go, whole baked chickens & other pre-made warm food (dinners, mashed potatoes, etc.) ready to go, will personalize and make any size meat package you want and even cut it up for you (eg., diced). Often too crowded though, with very narrow aisles (makes me anxious, but maybe not others). Will give you rolled quarters for laundromat (hard to find these days). Vermont Liquor Store inside, plus beer & wine. Don't go just before closing if you don't want to dodge the floor cleaning, lol. Wonderful market... I love it!!!

When I go to this place, despite my French accent, they manage to understand me. The butcher's team is always attentive to the needs of customers, no matter what time of day. The entire store team is polite, pleasant and professional

Deceptively larger than it looks, they have a surprisingly good selections of fresh produce , pre-made grab & go sandwiches and salads, as well as what you would expect at a grocery store. Short lines and friendly staff makes this store a great option from the big chain markets.

Great village store, I've been here many times, they have good meats, dairy items, and overall general groceries. Aisles are close so you can shop and be done much faster than a big supermarket, also great if your just looking for those in between shopping times, greet you with a smile to. Laundrymat at building directly behind them.

I always find the products I want here, not like Walmart, where every time I go there first, they never have what I want. I always end up at the Village Store in the end. Although, some of the prices are ridiculous!!!!!

A great neighborhood store. Well stocked, wide variety cut meat, deli meats and vegetables. Prices are better than big grocery stores in many instances. Oh, and great people.

I'm telling you right now if you want good meat Derby Village Store is got it they go around checking their meat every so many minutes make sure it's up in fresh they got good me all the way around there's no doubt about it steaks Hamburg you name it all that meet their Derby Village is it's good good meat that's why I buy my Delmonico's up there and sirloin even the cold meats Hamburg you name it they got it they'll cut it for you right there if I have to
