Not a great store. Chronically understaffed means checkout lines are very long. Office usually CLOSED. I've caught them selling things like expired bacon, reported it and nothing gets done.Added a photo on April 10 of deli sandwiches for sale (sell by 4/12)- note all the meat is a pestilent gray.

Here's a few ideas that would help grocery shoppers.√ Have more more handicapped parking spaces.√ Have smaller carts for those of us who are single and who have mobility issues that make it difficult to maneuver the larger carts.√ Have more employees on the floor to assist shoppers.✓ Pick up the ☎️📞before 20 rings at customer service. All this while you're in the store trying to find one of the staff to talk to.✓ Organize the 50% bakery items so you can actually see them. 🐰🐇 It's two days after Easter and you're trying to sell the cakes at the same price as before the holiday.✓ Train customer service to defer to a manager when there is a ServSafe violation told to them. The clerk acted like it was no big deal. Shame on her.I think the customer service rep was overwhelmed. The person before me getting lottery tickets the clerk said "oh did I give you the ticket back? Did I give you both tickets? " And she put somebody on hold on the answering on telephone 📞 . By the time I got her attention, she couldn't even remember if I had given her the money or she had given me my ticket.✓ Why is it important for you to have to ask individuals for their telephone number? As a single person,I don't want the whole world to know my telephone number. Why is it you haven't issued a system where that isn't necessary?✓ By the way, an observant grocery store cashier didn't happen to notice that I had bags right in front of her in my cart.✓ What's wrong with this picture? If you can't see it already, the case is missing a a complete door ! The cooler and the contents in it we're not ServSafe. The contents should have been removed and the display case should have been down until it was repaired to the correct temperature.I got to be honest, this never happens at Trader Joe's.I think honestly it was one of those cases of Alexander the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad, day experiences.

Update #2 - as of today, May 6, 2024, still no callback or contact. I told you they just don’t care. Stop putting up with this nonsense and travel a few extra miles and shop somewhere else!Update #1- I reached out to their chat feature on their site. They told me somebody would call me back to discuss my concerns. As of this writing, no one has called me back. Just as I suspected, they know they are the only grocery store out there so they can do whatever they want on their own timeframe. Sad.I can’t believe I keep coming back to this store. Actually, I can, only because they are the only store around…. And, they seem to know it. This is why nothing is an emergency here. No shopping carts available, produce shelves empty, Pricing consistently inaccurate, 2 out of 20 check outs open on a busy day, store and parking lot always seem filthy. Understaffing is a problem…everywhere!…, I get that, but seriously, I’ve been coming to this store for years and today is the first time I felt that I just couldn’t take it anymore and had to say something! Please get it together!Shopping tips for this location –-Grab a shopping cart in the parking lot before you enter the store because 8 times out of 10 there will be NONE upon entering and you’ll be forced to walk the length of a football field and back to get another one from the lot. May not seem like a big deal but on a 10° day, it kind of sucks.-Bring sanitizer with you. Everything seems to have a layer of dust or filth on it.-Lower your overall expectations-customer service desk is never open so don’t count on specialty services.-include ingredient alternatives to any recipes you might be making because odds are what you’re specifically looking for will be out of stock.-Pack your patience at checkout because again 8 times out of 10 there will be only 2 lanes open out of 20 and the self check out will be backed up to the deli counter.… And finally, check your receipt before leaving the store! Again, 8 times out of 10 there will be a discrepancy on regular and especially sales prices that are advertised in the isles and will not be honored at check out. And no, it’s not that I’m not an avid shopper or I’m not aware that digital coupons are applicable, the prices are just wrong, outdated or just not in sync with the cash registers, ultimately causing a bait and switch situation.The only redeeming quality about the Colchester store is the pharmacy. Consistently excellent.

Went in the other week, and still thinking about the experience. My partner and I were on the lookout for paneer but couldn’t locate it, so we approached the Deli staff. We were met with lack of acknowledgment from the girl behind the counter for the first 5 minutes. After finally getting her attention and asking about paneer availability, saying she would check with the manager. However, instead of going back to inquire, she spent several minutes on phone, returning to us she simply stated that they didn’t have any paneer without actually checking it.As a person of colour and a gay person, it only happens on rare occasion and i am familiar when i am being treated differently.

I prefer Shaw's over any other store in the area. My only gripe is that the bill racks up quickly. All in all though, they've got just about everything you may need and the staff are very pleasant.

If I could rate it lower, I would. Worst experience hands down. Crabby old woman as the cashier doesn’t even bother to ask if I want bags for all the groceries I just bought, watches me as I put it into the bags. I thought this was a cashier’s job? I don’t know. Very strange experience to watch strangers and the cashiers watching you bag your own groceries for a good 2-3 minutes. Never does she offer help. The array of products here are good, but I couldn’t even find good undamaged produce and everything is high price, low quality.Definitely sticking to City Market or TraderJoe’s. They treat customers a lot better with better products, too.

It's pretty good for a grocery store. They have that dinosaur kale I like, not just curly kale like most of the others. Of course, parking aplenty. Staffed by local H.S. kids, who I've known forever, so I can't say anything too bad about them, but then again, they know me, so... they're probably extra nice. I like the salt & vinegar wings. Mmmmm. I only rarely eat any while shopping.

In the dozens of times that I have shopped here, not one single employee (besides cashier) has said hello or even acknowledged my presence. It’s really very strange. Some even rudely cut in front of customers to do what they need to do. The lady in the deli is always nice when I approach her though. The store does have a large selection, but it’s so overpriced in comparison to other stores.

It was an awesome experience today. The Coca-Cola truck, all decked out for Christmas, was there with Santa. We got to take pictures on his chair while he was taking a break feeding the reindeer.

I would return to this store purely for the courtesy, enthusiasm and friendliness of the check out guy I dealt with. I'm sorry I did not get his name. He was cordial and funny and helpful and witty. It was quite a treat, and I told him so. Especially since I had just had my head snapped off by a very rude young female associate at Costco, across the street. Thank you so much Shaw's! 👍[AHA! His name is on my receipt. Thank you TRAVIS!]

Cashiers miss Amanda she was friendly, nice and knowledgeable. Travis on the other hand was nice but when I asked him to help bag my groceries he responded with he was busy doing something else with my order. 1 you don't talk to a customer like that. 2 he should of just said ok

Pretty solid all around but a few downfalls. Often out of stock of highly desired items. Sale items often don't ring up as posted and have to bring it up to staff member for them to correct pricing. No cashier to run checkout lane later in evening and only option is self checkout which can get backed up with customers and cause for long waits.

Shaw’s overall is good, but the sushi maker needs a lesson on how a ripe avocado looks and feels like. I’m from South Florida, so I’ll give you a lesson! If the fruit has some give to it when you squeeze it, then it’s ripe! If the fruit is rubber or hard as a rock, then it’s not ripe enough for eating or in sushi. It’s disgusting!

This is such a great Shaw's! My family and I have shopped here for many many years and we always had a good experience. The employees are very friendly and eager to help. Everything is fresh and delicious. The store is clean and very organized! 😁

UPDATE (6 months after my first review):As a new resident of Vermont, Shaws is now my favorite store and I give it 5*. Service has improved quite a bit, shelves are well stocked (as best as they can) and I recently tried ordering online for pick up. I was really surprised at how efficiently they can do it and in a timely manner as well. I have now used the service 3x and have no complaints about it. Associates are very good at “shopping” as items are always fresh and well packed. Shaws is always very correct when charging and whenever there’s a tiny mistake, they’re very good at correcting immediately.(6 months ago, gave them 4*)Big store. First time there yesterday. A few empty shelves. Lady at the Deli counter was happy they hired a new person to help out so the Deli could close a little later (6:30pm). They also have a hot bar for chicken wings (not too bad!).Can/bottle returns facility was not working. Container was full and they had no staff to empty it. Overall, a decent and neat store. I’ll be going back 😊

Clean, well stocked, spacious, and not too busy/adequately staffed. I've only been there twice so far, but the service has been great (cashier noticed a bottle of kombucha had a cracked cap at check out), and I've never had to wait in line long to check out. Good selection of organics, gluten free, local and craft beer, etc.

I'm in Colchester 3wks out of the month and this is my go to grocery store. The take and bake meals are a welcome quick meal when I don't want to cook and the veggies are always fresh (love the pears!!)Plus, being open late is a big help.Thanks for what you do.Keith

Everytime I try to shop here it's always something. Either they gave expired items on shelves or out of stock for months. I also had horrible experiences with drive up and go. They either forget to give me bags or lose my order completely. Which is what just happened to me. They charged my card and then called and said they couldn't fill my order due to system issues. Their only solution was them to take 4 hours longer than promised to fulfill my order manually. But I would still have to go in and check out normally by putting all the stuff on the belt and bagging it all. Might as well shop myself too. Which defeats the purpose of drive up and go

It doesn't offer a lot outside of meat and potatoes in groceries. Some items aren't available at all or are limited and not always available. It's basic and if one is a foodie cook, it can be frustrating when buying for a particular recipe.But it has good people to make up for its deficiencies.And while product requests can be made, I've rarely seen one go through at sister stores in the family of stores.

I got some Ben& Jerry's Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream from this Shaw's. It was grainy like rice pudding... There was this like yellow creamy stuff surrounding each bit of cookie dough🤢egg yolk separated from the temperature beated dough🤢 it had clearly thawed and been refrozen many many times. Absolutely disgusting and a huge let down because it was my cheat day.. some treat. Health hazzard and just plain lack of care for a huge product name. B&J's is from Vermont too!

Standard grocery store. Deli has fried chicken, meats and other food that you can "takeout". Produce section is very standard, you won't find exotic fruits or veggies but if you want the basics its decent. The store also has a good beer and wine selection.

The shaw's grocery store is down right unaffordable right as soon as you enter the store! It's way too expensive for anyone who is on State assistance (EBT Food Stamps) I only get $192.00 a month and my 01st trip to Shaw's was terrible because of the markups that they have been putting on their inventory! I can't afford to get my groceries from that shaw's supermarket in Colchester vermont anymore after my 01st trip there a week or so ago. Sorry shaw's supermarket in Colchester but it's true and you guys know that for a fact but some people just can't help but too go to your store because of a variety of reasons. I'm Disabled but I have people who will give me Rides too other stores but unfortunately there are people who don't have that kind of friends who will do that for them. Until you guys lower your prices and not make an extra $5.00 on a $1.50 piece of meat, you won't be seeing me again at your grocery store. You guys are taking advantage of a lot of people because of their situation on the pandemic and then take every last cent from them in order to feed their children and you guys should be ashamed of yourselves for doing what you guys are doing!

Typical grocery store but we shop here for variety, options on products and in-house made foods anf fresh meats and seafood. They are pricier than other chains locally but all prices are up on everything currently. They have many rewards/coupons u clip online to get product sales and discounts. Clean store.
