We stopped into this inspiring and enchanting little eatery and it was nothing short of magical. The pastries and quiche were delectable and everything there looked invitingly delicious. I highly encourage stopping in here, grabbing a book, a table, and a bite to eat. Such an experience in an unassuming but gorgeous valley town. I hope to stop in again soon and take photos to share.

Not particularly welcoming, the corn and cheddar scone was very heavy and greasy. Coffee was good. The atmosphere if the old books was great

Can’t say enough good things about this place: gluten free bagels, cute store, good prices, fast service. We stopped here because we wanted a quick coffee and ended up staying an hour. It’s rare you see gluten free bagels, much less homemade ones, much less homemade ones that actually taste good!If you’re in the area, stop by and check it out, you won’t be disappointed. The pinnacle of cafe-ness.Plus, covered patio for seating.

Stopped in for some soup as we were hungry from traveling. It was a perfect combination of bookstore and bakery. My husband got the Portuguese stew and really enjoyed it. I could not make up my mind so I asked to be surprised. I received the vegan chowder. It was light but flavorful and the bread was fluffy and buttery. Fantastic! We grabbed more snacks for the road on the way out.I can tell that this food is made with love. Thanks to all those who make this place so amazing!

Absolutely incredible bookstore. Unique, vintage, rare and autographed one of a kind books of all genres and types. Then add in amazing eats and sauces and food to buy. I bought a smoked maple syrup bbq glaze as well as a maple syrup siracha and both were amazing! Amazing poetry section!

Great little place to relax with a book and have fresh snacks and drinks. There's locally made creams and soaps. Nestled in a small Vermont community. Was not overcrowded on a Saturday afternoon on our travels to northern Vermont.

Such an amazing surprise finding this cozy, wonderful place for breakfast. The egg sandwiche was quite tasty and filling and coffee was great. There are seating options in different rooms surrounded by books and savory. So good!

Great little bakery (and books). Food was good. Coffee was good. Parking is kinda available all over town. I came in on a Tuesday and didn't realize they were closed so I had to wait a day to try them... But it was good! Friendly staff and pleasant seating.

Couldn’t love this place more. It is absolutely worth a stop along Highway 100. The fresh bagels are a treat & we’ve also enjoyed a couple different soups. The espresso drinks are a bit of a wildcard in terms of taste, but that only adds to the quaint vibe. There are a fun variety of rooms & cozy corners to settle into, and it has a whimsical charm that will make you want to stay for hours. We’ve come back multiple times!

We found this little gem of a place while staying outside Rochester. The tomato/rice soap was excellent, as we're the croissants. Will be having their cheddar bagels this morning at home. A must stop while traveling through.

This place is my dream!! Books, everywhere!!! Second-hand to boot. Cats! Wonderful shop owners. A coffee shop next door and their overflow/additional stock. I spent way too much and enjoyed every minute of it. This was a stop on our way through town and I cannot say no to a book store. Made my husband pull over. If I'm ever in the area again, I will absolutely return.

Must stop here! Super cute little book store and pantry store that sells the most amazing soup. Try the sun tea. Go look around the shop and make sure to get something!

Sandy's Books and Bakery IS THE BOMB! You can't find a more comfortable, chill place to have a lovely sandwich and a coffee than Sandy's. Grab a good book and enjoy the vibe. Excellent food and refreshments. Outdoor seating in the warmer months. Don't miss the trout sandwich on a salt & pepper bagel.

Cute, decent bagels and OK coffee. The Vermont products they sell are much better than anything else they have in the store. That said, the mix of bookstore and coffee shop is cute, and idealic. Worth a visit but maybe not for lunch / breakfast. The cookies are good, and it's the only place in town to sit down with a laptop and work. The service is also kind of awkward - not much personality.

If you're here, you must stop. Coffee, excellent sandwiches, bookshop x 2. Owners are wonderful, joyous people, smiling and engaging. Spent a lovely hour in here reading a chapter, browsing cool cards and little gifts, and enjoying a sandwich and coffee. Great stop to hop off the bike for a moment.

I am not sure what I am writing a review on here. The books or the bakery? The sandwich I got was mundane, at best. Very little soul in that little guy. The stuff here was not overly expensive. But this sandwich was like 4 bites, dry, and mostly devoid of taste.Soup was ok-to-decent.Espresso was terrible. The maple donuts were decent, I'll say that. The cookie was actually a little dry. Man I am ringing this up pretty hard, I guess. I just think they swung and missed on too many things.I absolutely love the concept of this place and we loved LOVED the tables in the book rooms. Because of this, I may come back 1 day to try and figure out a better set of things to eat so I can try to love it more than I did.

Me and my partner came here the morning after a very scary close call with death. The soup and coffee here was the perfect comfort food! They use local organic ingredients and the food feels very homely and nutritious! The atmosphere is lovely with the pretty outside area and little seating areas hidden around the book shelves!Waiting time is quite long but worth it!

I stopped here on a trip with my partner, and they offered lots of delicious treats and goodies. The book store was also packed with a bunch of different books, even an eclectic selection of niche topics.

Great selection of new and used books, great selection of locally made crafts/consumables, and a really great bakery. We go here weekly for both the food and the environment.

Delicious baked goods and breakfast sandwiches! Coffee and lattes are also great! It is such a great place to stop for a quick meal or snack. There are so many interesting books to browse. You can also get great gifts here, like local maple syrup and other specialties. You can get food to go or sit in the cafe.

Update: Stopped on our way up north for brunch. I had 2 feta and spinach crossants and Lana had a ginger/oat scone, totally yummy along with fresh mint sprig iced tea !! Here's experience, terrific atmosphere inside and outside where we chose to eat under an umbrellaed table. Organic and Vegan foods all made to order and brought to your table. Nothing negative about this place at all. We'll be back often !

Cool place with nice atmosphere. Food was meh, but staff very friendly and outside sitting on the lovely veranda was enjoyable.

I rarely review, except for what I consider exceptional places. Sandy’s Books & Bakery is one of those! Want coffee? It’s excellent, but furthermore there are many additional homemade choices worth trying from cold brew coffee, to Aztec Cocoa to Golden Milk. But there is a full menu of various baked (and delicious!) items including soups. Not enough? Well, there are a number of unusual and really good local items for sale as well. If you are gluten free- there are items to choose from. All this as part of a really enjoyable bookstore with excellent atmospheric places to read (and purchase) a book with your drink. If you are looking for a cool place to visit that is Vermont culture at its best- look no further than this gem in the heart of Rochester.

Sip the Vermonter (latte with a maple syrup finish) and read one of the great 2nd hand books off the shelf (I personally love "yup, nope, and other Vermont dialogues")

Great relaxed 'Vermont Hippie's cafe and bookstore. The food is really good, the book selection is interesting and the people seemed nice, though busy. Everything I tasted was delicious, there were some good shopping items (they had bottles of the saki we really like, but can be hard to find) and there are a few seating areas inside and out. Sandy's is a good example of what makes Vermont unique and great.

This is one of the most wonderful discoveries I have made in Vermont. It literally made my day. I wandered in at random and found some of the best bagels and baked goods, all in a charming setting of books and cozy reading nooks. I can't wait to go back.

This place makes me want to move to Rochester and spend my days sitting in one of their many cozy corners for hours just reading books and snacking/drinking coffee. The ambiance is something out of a dream! Food and coffee were also delicious and everyone was so nice.

Wonderful bakery. We had bagel sandwiches, smoked salmon and smoked trout. They also sell and array of coffee drinks. The staff is very friendly. Seating outside on the porch and inside among shelves of used books for sale. Book store is in two houses, with a large assortment of used books. Definitely worth stopping at.
