Love this place for the house smoked pastrami alone! The bagels are the best outside of NYC! Plus a REAL on site butcher shop! Incredible burgers 🍔 and poutine. So many choices and so little time… give yourself a treat and go out of your way to eat here! Breakfast is unbelievably good! I stop here whenever I can!

I can’t wait to eat the entire menu!!!! So worth the drive. Well written menu that is executed flawlessly. Retail side of the establishment has some hard to find goods for the kitchen. Looking forward to taking home something from the meat counter next time. There will be many next times!!!

Amazing little store. Makes incredible sandwiches, salads, and burgers. It has an eclectic assortment of micro brews and beer and a nice wine selection. I highly recommend stopping in and checking out Brownsville Butcher & Pantry

The Brownsville Butcher and Pantry is an amazing find! We travel to this rural area of Vermont a couple of times a year and feel very grateful that we came upon this business. We now make it our spot to stop every time we are in Vermont. The ambience is quintessential Vermont! The workers are kind, the locals are welcoming, the sense of community is very evident.We enjoy eating at the café because the variety of freshly baked goods is incredible. They offer to customize anything that you may want. It is evident that they have a strong base of regulars who are so welcoming. It is refreshing to sit back and watch the genuine connections between the workers and the customers.The meat selection is fresh cut and locally sourced. The vegetables and cheeses are locally sourced as well. The store carries basic grocery supplies as well as an extensive wine selection.Please make it a point to stop in and experience this locally owned community market and café. Like us, it will become your new spot!

These guys are known for their high prices but staff many times make up for it. Not today. Called to order a bone in standing rib for 6 people (approx $150 worth) and the lady on the phone simply did not have any customer service skills and handled my questions terribly. As if I’m asking for it free. I was willing to drive close to an hour to their place to buy this expensive piece of meat but with that attitude, I called back and cancelled the order. I took my business to the Woodstock village butcher where they are super friendly all the time.

This place is incredible.If you are looking on google maps right now because you are trying to find a place to eat or to pick up a few things for the road- do yourself a favor, just come here.High quality. Fantastic selection. Artisan. Clean. And the owners care deeply for their customers.I moved to the area from Philadelphia and I hit the jackpot to have this place so close in a rural area.I’m not joking, I really did. And it’s not just because the food is great, you can find that anywhere.The big thing is the owners care about the people who shop in the store, and where they get their products from. There is a community effort that is woven into the fabric of this place.There is a massive effort to maintain a high standard.So not only are you supporting a local business, but when you shop here you are supporting local farmers, breweries, cheese makers, etc.The Butcher and Pantry is a hub that extends into the multitudes of crafts people that are in Vermont.So, shopping here- yes you will get fantastic food and local products. But you will also be supporting what makes Vermont- Vermont.

The staff was friendly and the establishment was clean but the prices were absolutely brutal. Charging up to $10 for a breakfast sandwich solely because the location is next to a major hotel is genuine robbery - not even Manhattan is that expensive.

Staying nearby for work. Heard about this place at work before I even checked in to hotel. Place is too cool!! You just feel better being there. Food is great, seems they support all local suppliers. Travel all over the country, going to miss this place.

One of the best spots we've been to since being in Vermont! Reuben and hot Italian were impeccable, cheesy fries were top notch, and the apricot jam bar was on a biscuit so short and crumbly it dissolved on impact. 10/5 stars, would recommend.

We spent several days near Woodstock, VT during the summer. During our mini-vacation, we visited Brownsville Butcher & Pantry for breakfast, and then went back again, and again…It is a great place to get some fresh produce and any other groceries and essentials. You can get VT milk, eggs, cheese, etc. here also. It also had a nice sized café in the inside, offering baked goods, sandwiches, and more. They had a line of people waiting to order, which was a good sign.We got a few baked goods, two donuts and a scone. They were all pretty big, so we actually took some home and enjoyed them later. They were all great, not overly sweet but elegantly sweet, which was great.For the hot food item, we ordered Egg Sandwich, and added Tomato, Sausage, and Spicy Mayo. The huge sausage was simply delicious! Every bite was heavenly! I could have that every morning!We went back another time for lunch, and ordered Philly Cheesesteak, Burger , and Pesto Fries. The fries were amazing, totally shareable size, so very addictive! The patty was super juicy and packed with flavor. The bacon was meaty and amazing, and all the veggies were fresh, and cheese was perfectly cheesy… It was certainly a great burger!The last time we visited was our last day in Vermont. We went on our way out, so that we could have them in the car as we drove back home. We ordered Turkey Club and BLT. It had a generous amount of turkey, really fresh and high quality. The bread was toasted just right, and perfectly buttery. Very filling! And the BLT...This was the best BLT I’ve ever had! The bacon was super juicy, thick, and cooked just right. So good!We enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff there were all friendly and attentive, the store and café was always clean. Definitely one of our favorite spots for food in Vermont!

I drive by this place frequently on my way to a Rover client. Pretty much every time the parking lot is FULL. So I finally decided to stop in and have lunch. It was amazing! I had the Italian and my husband had their version of a Cuban sandwich. Both were delicious and the fries were equally amazing. We also had a lemon meringue donut that was delicious. We did buy a hot sauce in the market but haven't tried it yet, smells amazing. We absolutely plan on coming back for breakfast and to try their burgers.

We used Brownsville Butcher & Pantry for our wedding cake and they did an exceptional job! Needing a gluten free cake, we were very selective on who we went with in order for it to taste good for all guests. No one could tell the difference! We are so grateful and highly recommend them for whatever your catering needs are!

all the employees were friendly and nice. be careful about going for the cafe as their hours aren’t always listed. some days they close at 4pm(only the cafe). great selection of pantry goods. they had vegan cupcakes one day but they didn’t seem to regularly carry vegan pastries.

High quality and delicious. We got the steak and pastrami sandwiches, with fries. Every single thing was so good down to the homemade ranch. The brownie…huge portion and an actual fudgey brownie. Everything=perfection.Service has also been very friendly, every single time, no matter who we are talking to. Everyone behind the counter is great. Definitely a favorite spot now!

If you are in the area stop here!! Amazing menu and atmosphere. This is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. In the summer they have the best soft-serve ice cream and they offer a variety of craft beers throughout the year to complement your meal. Bonus points for it also being a little store to stock up on drinks and snacks for the rest of the day.

Absolutely love this place. The food is incredible and the owners are very personable and truly care about the food they create for you. Rotating and creative menu options make you want to try several items at once. There's an excellent tap list as well that has the same amount of thought put into it as the food menu. I'll be bringing any friends or family that visit here.

Had a delicious lobster roll last wk so returned today to have another. Today's lobster roll wasn't enjoyable at all having been too heavily saturated with melted butter. The bun fell apart cause it was so saturated with butter and the wrapper and dish was covered with butter. There was so much butter we couldn't taste the lobster. We will not return there for a lobster roll.

Well worth the drive from Chester! Their breakfast burrito is truly spectacular - the ingredients are so fresh and the combination is perfect. It's probably the best one I've had anywhere. I took home a blueberry cream cheese danish that was also fantastic. They have quite a few ingredients in the store that are difficult to find elsewhere, too.

Beat breakfast burrito I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of breakfast burritos. The pastries are out of this world, and the bagels look like perfection. Would absolutely recommend stopping by, the meat selection at the deli was also fabulous.

In the beginning......Oh how shiny new things are so good. Letting competent staff leave and getting away from what you do best as well as being severely inconstant is death by paper cuts. Being the only choice in a desolate location is like life support. 14.00 for a pre made "wish" sandwich? Not putting packed on dates to extend shelf life has caused several porcelain paint jobs. Self served baked items isn't what I call sanitary. I hope somebody actually grabs the reigns soon.

I was so happy when they opened. Vacation in the area yearly. Amazing smoked beet Reuben sandwich and always great draft beer. Excellent groceries, baked goods, toiletries, anything you need without having to go far. Friendly staff too.

We had lunch on the recommendation of a family member. The food was good, the staff was not particularly friendly. My biggest criticism is this: I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich for a 5 year old. It was listed as having cheddar and American cheese. I asked to not have American cheese as I don't consider it a wholesome food. I was told the policy was that they can take off the American but not substitute any other cheese. I found this odd, ungracious and not in keeping with serving good food. I would gladly have paid a few cents more for another slice of cheddar.
