I'm here reviewing the Barn Cat Placement Program.Skitty, previously Boots, was an indoor feral with hiding instincts.... and today she claimed her throne in the Hoomin living room and allowed the Press to photograph her highness for the first time ever. This ended up being a happy placement of this particular cat, from a confusing previous life . Im very thankful.Never underestimate ferals, no matter how hissy. A ear clipped barn gremlin might become your new Lifestyle Coach.Cats are curious, and if it takes days or years, just let THEM decide when to officially join the household. Even if it takes years. This little hissy ball of furious fluff has made herself quite at home.Thank you to WHS for doing due diligence when placing critters. I didn't dare to expect a pet, but beyond all expectations, i think i have one now.

They are so great…on disability with an emotional support dog, vet yearly vax checkups and monthly flea and heart meds my Bruno gets at a discount and they are so good with him. I think they are by far the best folks Ive worked within such organizations and thats a high bar! Please donate to allow them to serve so many animals in need. Bruno and I thank you!

I have a 120 lb mastiff with social anxiety and was very nervous about taking him to get nuetured and up to Date on on his shot. The staff went above and beyond to make me and my dog extremely comfortable. I was soo impressed with the staff!! I would definitely recommend them 10 x over!! There pricing was Great! I expected to pay way more and they definitely didn't take advantage of my wallet! If I could give them 20 stars I definitely would!! The best veterinarian around!!

So impressed by this organization. Rowan received good care here, and they helped us a couple of times with food. I would encourage anyone to try them out if you need shots updated or if your animal needs meds. I appreciate them so much.

I needed spay and neuter appointments at their upcoming clinic. I'm so desperate to get my dogs sterilized but every vet near me is so booked out to the point they aren't accepting anyone, I found two open appointments and had the deposit for the appointments. I was extremely ecstatic about it. I can stay with friends or family closer with my dogs because they understand the situation, but the vet declined my appointments because I lived too far away. I'm left with no where to turn. No one to do this surgery on my dogs. I just can't even understand, they didn't even talk to me about it or anything, no call. They just. Declined. Devastating to say the least.

Adopted two kittens earlier this month from WCHS. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful and answered all of our questions. I could tell how much the staff care about the animals in their charge. Thanks so much! Rosemary & Phineas (Rosie&Binx) are doing well and we love them so much!

I adopted this sweet puppy 3 days ago (7-9-21). She is settling in very well. She is almost potty trained in just 3 days time, (only one accident yesterday), and sleeps through the night. She is very smart but also strong willed lol. She is still scared with noises such as cars and trucks driving by when we are outside but I am sure she will come out of her shell in no time. I am so happy this shelter let me adopt her. The staff at the shelter were all super nice. I can't remember the guys name that helped me with this adoption but he was super nice and willing to spend time answering all my questions. The shelter was clean and when you walk in you don't hear dogs going nuts like you do at other shelters. I suspect this is because the dogs feel safe there. I came to the shelter from an hour and a half away and was late arriving to my appointment due to GPS sending up through the boonies but they still allowed me to see the puppies and adopt this sweet girl. She is healthy and will bring many years of happiness I hope.I've read other reviews that mentioned they adopted out sick animals and I 100% don't believe those reviews. There was absolutely no sign of sick animals at this shelter and all animals leave there completely vaccinated and spayed or neutered (or an appointment to have them spayed or neutered if they aren't already). If I had to make a vet appointment for vaccines and to have her spayed it would have been a few hundred dollars at least so I am grateful that this shelter makes sure their animals leave with a clean bill of health and up to date on shots. I highly recommend this shelter for anyone looking to add a pet to their family.

I used to volunteer here in high school- lovely place that really cares about their animals. My family has adopted 2 cats from them in the past and never had a bad experience. Recently I adopted the newest member of our family, a 2 year old chocolate lab. Great experience, very easy and straightforward!

The animals are reflection of the caring staff. Everyone who I met at WCHS was incredibly kind, compassionate, patient and genuine. I had spoken with Eric a few times over the phone over the last month and knew I wanted to adopt from them. I am over the moon happy with my little Ravioli. I changed her name to Marissa ♥️. We’re looking forward to seeing you all next week !!!

Great facility. Because of Covid you need to call and schedule an appointment, but I left a voicemail and they got back to me the next day to schedule a time to meet the dog I was interested in adopting. They let me introduce the dogs twice to make sure they got along, and now I am the proud mama of a beautiful, well behaved pup!

I tride to ask for help with my animal. Sure get they don't do emergency visits. So I asked for suggestions. No answer just got hung up the phone. No humanity. My animal has a bad infection.

I love Jessalyn and everybody at Windham. I worked alongside them as a volunteer sending our kitties to them to be adopted (Florida to VT). They did an excellent job taking care of the kitties upon intake and found them all homes. Their facility is really clean and they truly love all the animals, they learn so much about them and treat them like they are their own pet.

Absolutely perfect staff and clinicians! Everyone was prompt, friendly and helpful. Being new to the area and a first time customer with my new cat, I wasn't sure what to expect. They exceeded expectations. The cost was VERY affordable. I highly recommend bringing your pets there and donating generously if you can. Thank you!!! Steve and BellmanTheGray

Don't get me wrong it's great that it's a no kill shelter and they'll work with you on your bill. I've gotten both my cats fixed there. Great people.

The humane society likely saved my kitty's life. My male cat was sick with an upper respiratory infection and was getting worse by the day, hacking, dripping from his eyes and drooling. Very lethargic. I was in touch with them and my regular vet who couldn't see him for at least two weeks. The humane society scheduled him for next Thursday but had a cancellation for yesterday, examined him and immediately got him all the treatment he needed. They took my calls and gave me advice beforehand, calming my ragged nerves with kindness. My kitty is already showing signs of improvement, and the cost was very affordable. I am so grateful for this and all the times I've brought my kitties to them.Thank you so much! 😌

USELESS for doing anything about people who do NOT care for their own animals. These children believe lies and defend the indefensible. They are the problem, not a solution.

I just went today with a possible stray cat that I found, and Jess was super helpful. As a cat lover, my first instinct is HELP HIM, but she gave me some much more realistic advice that suited his specific situation. She didn't make me feel dumb for bringing him in to be checked out, and I'm confident that the plan she came up with was the best possible solution. I love that we have people like her caring for vulnerable animals (and their people) who just need a little patience and understanding.

Why did you guys give me your word on my two cats I had to surrender because of a domestic violence situation would stay together but they didn’t? Yet two other cats that have been they’re longer get to stay together? Please make that make sense to me??? The only excuse you gave was it was easier to get the money and clear space. She was also a calico everyone loves those so why not just “adopt” her out alone. You took their comfort from each other away and you lied. I can’t wait to get my other dude back because I’ll no longer trust this place. There was also a dog who was named Bear fractured leg and you guys still “adopted” him out before he was healed. Nah man you guys just want the money. Cause few years ago heard bout a pit bull who was surrendered and you lied about how the dog was treated. You said she was abused. It’s a little case I’m building on you guys for giving false information. Don’t trust them

Took great care of my animal, and 155 for shots, microchip and a neuter is a great price. Fast, friendly, and they really do care about your pets.

The best staff and very clean place. They treated my mom's dog for a female infection and we're so gentle and kind to Miss Tiki she had surgery for a spay at there clinic and the cost was only 200 No vets are taking New Clients and the ER for animals wanted 2500 to walk in the door. Thank God For the Human Society my mom's dog is her life and they treated her dog no questions asked and quite quickly they have spay clinic and wellness checks appointment available at there shelter.. Not sure about other humane society but this place was amazing.. can't thank them enough

I got both female dogs fixed here and they did so wonderful with them! It didn't even slow them down! I mean they were a little tired the first day, but the next day they were back to their playful selves! I couldn't believe it! Thank you so much for your gentle hands! Five stars hands down!

All I can say is WOW. We just adopted two lovely kitties from WCHS and the staff was so kind, helpful, responsive, informative, and thorough. Each animal we met was happy and clearly extremely well cared for. Their high level of commitment to animal welfare is beyond obvious! Jessalyn (the shelter animal manager), has been exceptionally wonderful to us - answering questions and helping us navigate some minor health issues even after adopting. Thank you Jessalyn and WCHS!

My darling, sweetheart, and best friend Cammie pulled a crash-out as Beagle dogs love to do, however; this time she made it out to the Hiway. Thank God above she was picked up by a wonderful passerby who I would love to thank personally (thank you and god bless) who took her up to Windham County Humane Society where she was booked, photoed, paw printed. She was safe and in good hands. After s urchin get all of her normal haunts I was on my way up to our friends home wher cammie’s girlfriend Agnes’s lives when another great neighbor stopped and informed this now frantic fur baby daddy that one of their friends had found an overweight old Beagle and had taken her to the doggie steal bar hotel. After gathering my thoughts wallet and shoes the trip was on to retrieve my baby girl. I had never in the 3 years of living here in West Brattleboro seen hiway 30 but with help from good neighbors I was there in no time. The FANTASTIC YOUNG LADY that greeted me knew who I was and why I was there. She was so great I cannot begin to express my gratitude for her kindness and understanding. Words are lacking in this situation. Just picture a 66 year old boy with eyes sweating (men don’t cry) retrieving his best friend. Cammie could have been killed that day if not for the wonderful people involved in her rescue. I know this, her sister was killed last Father’s Day by a hit and run driver just 50-60 yards away. Cammie is all we have left so we treasure her.God bless all of the hero’s involved and a great thanks to Windham County Humane Society for being there and caring.Post Script: another neighbor stopped by to check on Cammie, at first I didn’t understand how they knew about our ordeal. She showed me my sweeties picture posted on the Society’s Facebook web page……..now THAT’S fast networking. So cool. Again God Bless and thank youSincerely, yours with gratitude. Pops Fitch

These people who work endlessly to help save the lives of less fortunate animals are simply amazing. They go above and beyond for our pets and provide more services then I could list. I recently bought a puppy who turned out to be Parvo positive and care for my pup at an animal hospital would have been very, very expensive. They went out of their way to teach me how to nurse her back to health and gave me all the supplies needed such as a IV bag, medications and special foods all at no cost. They made sure to check in on her and saw her every few days to see how she was progressing. They have since given her all her shots and she will be spayed there as well. They help everyone but especially lower income households who need just a little help caring for their furry family members. Highly recommended!

Went here Tuesday they are doing a monthly clinic type thing now and so I brought a friend of mine that couldn't get there and have her dog's nails cut. Worked out great quick, very friendly staff and affordable as it gets. That's all I can speak about here.

Really nice people helping adorable animals. They let my family come and visit with the dogs, which was great for my children. It is helping them get used to dogs with different personalities while we prepare to adopt in the near future. We are thankful for these opportunities and will be back next weekend to visit and play some more!
