Employees wouldn’t check me out, made me try to use self checkout which wouldn’t work with the items I was buying and also isn’t really accessible to me due to a disability. So the incompetent employe instead stood there while my partner spent 20 minutes trying to use the self check out which didn’t work. Tried to charge us 4 times more than listed price for an item. Self check out doesn’t work for many items and shouldn’t be forced.

Left money in self checkout...someone stole it!! Came back within 1/2 hour, person watching the registers was gone for the day? at 9:30 am? .. They said they saw nothing on the cameras? NEVER returning to this store!!! .. response to your idea... No refund offered!

Shaw's is my go to grocery store as well as the pharmacy. The Berlin, VT store is always very clean and inviting with a great product selection. However with that said their deli staffing level of 1 associate every Sunday is completely unacceptable! The gal that usually works there is great. She is fast and efficient. The problem is she can only do so much when there is usually at least 4-6 customers deep waiting. The deli is by far a huge opportunity when it comes to the proper staffing levels on weekends. It's been this way for a long time so I doubt it will get addressed.

This was my first trip to this grocery store, having just moved to the area. It was the worst grocery store experience I’ve had in the entire country, spanning from Alaska to the east coast. The produce section was ENTIRELY BARE. There was literally NO FOOD LEFT. Not even in the organics section. No onions, broccoli, beans, tomatoes, avocados, bananas, lettuce, salad, etc, not even a single lemon. Spoke to the produce person and she said their shipment never arrived. Unbelievable. I’ve had better food security living at the end of the planet in Alaska. I will not be returning. Seems more like poor management. I’ll keep shopping at the store in Montpelier. Prices are the same anyways.

On Saturday 8/12/23 we had a Class Reunion with Appetizers only. We ordered them from Store #616 in Berlin, VT. The order was perfect. All of the Food (Fruit, Veggies, chicken wings and tenders) were fresh and ready when we arrived to pick it up. The staff was amazingly helpful! Everyone that attended were very impressed with the Quality and Quantity for the price we were charged. Thank you!!

(Berlin Corners location.) It used to be a much better grocer. But today, two lanes were open at 5pm on a Saturday (see pic). A couple of weeks ago, that bread was EXACTLY where it was when I photographed it - middle of the aisle and covered in blue mold. I think the pics speak for themselves.

Decent little store. Bring your own bags. I was surprised there aren’t any self checkouts. Food selection was pretty good. Prices were also pretty good. The store is a bit outdated, but so is half of Vermont, so there’s that.

Beautiful store. A very nice lady Shaw's employee working in the baking aisle gave me some great tips on different ways to make a birthday cake. She was working very hard but took time out to talk to me and my friend. What a very nice lady. Also there is always a very good sale on Seltzer water here!!! 😎

Felt too fancy for me, but they had like 6 cashiers instead of the usual 3 I see in other grocery stores, so the lines were really short!

Would have a higher score, but the Grumpy Old Spanish Guy in the deli section was RUDE.Idk if he can speak English or not, but pointing aggressively to another deli worker like you're annoyed when u ask for help is not what I call customer service.If it's a language issue, then learn to speak enough not to be rude.Other than that, decent clean grocery store with plenty of selection. Beware the Grumpy Old Spanish Guy! 😂

The obese old manager woman with short hair wouldn't let me return something, she had a real "see you next Tuesday" way about her, never shopping here again and neither will any of my family members or friends when I tell them all about her nasty demeanor. And her "screw you" scowl she gave me.

I go early to shop. Would’ve gave 5 stars but there is a new manager in the seafood dept. seafood use to be on display when the store openedbut now you’re lucky if they have it out by 9amI’m sure a lot of people go without fresh seafood for this reason

I’m sorry to say that I am about to switch my grocery store to Hannaford‘s. It is now becoming very difficult to find organic or healthy products at Shaws. Some days the produce is pretty decent but though the organic produce is awful, I largely shop at the Hunger Mountain co-op for produce, but even finding regular brand for cooking bran Muffins was impossible today.

Meat and seafood department is this stores weakness. I few weeks back the lobster tank had dead lobsters in it and the meat case (packaged area) had pools of blood in the bottom and had not been cleaned. I don't think I have ever seen a dirtier meat case. I should have taken pictures.... Please put someone else in charge and clean up that department.Edit: 10/12/21 - Was in there the other day and much better, don't think my review had anything to do with it but glad to see they cleaned this up.

The store app is pretty janky but the selection in-house is always great, especially for Vermont! I always find something new and interesting to try.

I just don't shop at Shaw's period but I'm learning you can get items here that you can't find anywhere else. So if there's a specific things you just can't find at other grocery stores, check Shaw's out. They have the most impressive ice cream selection.

I like the store clean employees nice. But the just for u coupons In the flyer is terrible you try to click the item that you want the sale price for example pork chops marked at $4.99lb . In flyer $1.77 was like $15 off. Half the time the coupons don't work. You've got to ask they gotta get a supervisor you hold up the line. Its embarrassing. But $10 $15I WISH THEY WOULD STOP THE ON LINE COUPONS AND JUST PUT IT ON SALE OR NOT I HATE HAVING TO USE MY PHONE TO GET THE SALE. Just give me a card to slide price chopper.

Ordered 2 meat/cheese platter the day before a big event. Presentation great, didn't like the olive bowl in the middle but will know for next time. Deli did a great job and were expecting us.

I used to live nearby and have since moved. I came in to get flowers for cemetery nearby. The lady in floral was very nice and made a pretty arrangement for the cemetery. I always find what I want in this store along with great customer service.

I despise this shaws, mainly due to the lack of self checkouts. At 6PM they will have at most 2 registers open, lines 4-5 people long with carts overflowing. It's literally quicker to drive down to Hannaford in south Barre and then drive all the way back into Barre than it is to stop at Shaw's, a quick stop usually turns into 15 min at the register. Install self checkouts (like every other grocery store in the area) or run the 15 or less lane.

I usually find everything I ask for or want. The fruit seems to be very good there. I do stop occasionally at two other grocery store and they rate almost as good. It's nice and close for me to shop.

Good luck at the meat counter; you'll wait forever, even if you're the only one there. Yesterday I stood there for 5 solid minutes before I thought to ask the woman who was wiping off a display nearby if anyone was working back there."Yeah, me. But it's gonna be a while cuz I'm busy"This was after I had to go track down a cart in the rain because there were NONE in the store.And only 2 registers open at 6pm on a Friday afternoon. The lines took forever.That's customer service? I won't be going back. I'll be spreading the word

22 years I’ve been getting cakes and cupcakes for my kids birthday’s and the last 2-3 years they’ve been awful! Friday I pick up cupcakes for my autistic sons 12th birthday and not only was the color wrong but there was barely any frosting! Last year his entire cake was smudged couldn’t even make out the pictures of the Pokémon.. crazy to pay what I pay to have awful cakes and cupcakes!! Shaws I’m Berlin I’m very disappointed

Love Shaws! Not all store are equal though, the one in Barre has an awesome wing, salad, and Oliver bar!! I one in derby is lacking good management in their produce section. It's not as good as it used to be! The bakery is amazing, I love how well the cakes are decorated. Polite and helpful staff.
