Damien and Jeff were super unhelpful. Before making an exchange I spoke with one of the female cashiers last week about making an exchange for some cat food. I explained my cat had an allergy and I grabbed the wrong food by mistake. She assured me that an exchange could be made without a receipt or phone number. I came today and explained the situation and for some reason I was told I couldn’t make an exchange after all. Since I had no use for the cat food I left it with them. I had no need of it since my cat couldn’t eat it. I can’t believe a manager wouldn’t honor what I was told or allow me to make the exchange. It costs the same so I wasn’t trying to get more expensive food or anything. Plus the cashier kept saying I wanted a return so he wasn’t even listening to what I was saying. This isn’t the first time I have had problems with PetCo but this will sure be my last interaction with them.

If I could give the “groomer” Hanna a zero I would. I brought my 1 year old dog into get a bath and nail trim. When I picked him up she said she didn’t clip his nails because he growled at her. My mother and I were shocked. He NEVER growls at people. I asked her if he showed his teeth when he growled. She said “Well it was a really quiet growl” I said “So he was “talking” to you and I laughed. She was going to charge me for the nail trim I told her she better not. When I got my dog home I went to pet his head and he flinched away. He NEVER did that before going there. His nails were all chipped and broken. She was mean and rough. I think Hanna should be fired.

The staff that helped me (Makenzie) was so knowledgeable and helpful in finding a harness that would work for my Alaskan Malamute puppy. She was friendly and seemed to enjoy her job

Only thing stopping 5 stars is availability. They didnt have the item I purchased online (at the store where I picked up) despite the computer system for stocking said it was there. Im suppose to receive a refund for it but havent quite yet.

So many things about Petco are fabulous, including the program to adopt pets. However at the same time they sell reptiles, ferrets, hamsters, chinchillas and fish…all of these animals have the same issues with breeding farms! We must get enlightened!

Staff is very friendly and talkative, most seem to know a lot about the animals, Animals are treated the petco standard: just barely well enough to live and sell, they seem to be out of animals often but I guess thats a normal thing. Fun to go in and pet the cats occasionally.

The employees in Barre, VT are always the nicest people. They make it a joy to go into that store. It’s a rare thing to see such customer service these days. They always have a smile on their face. When I visited on 3/11/23, there was a long line of people checking out. Within less than a minute all three cash registers were manned, and the line quickly shrank to nothing. Yet, I never felt like they were rushing me at all. They were still as pleasant as ever. When there is no one in line, they always ask me about my cat, what she likes, etc. they seem to genuinely care that you have the best for your pet. I really can’t stress enough how it is an absolute joy to shop that that store. I can’t say the same for other Petcos I’ve visited. The Barre store is just special. Petco should really be proud of them and reward them for providing such great customer service. Just as a side note, I don’t work for Petco or know any of the employees personally. If never wrote reviews of stores, but this one deserves the special praise.

We took our dog here for a grooming appointment. We had previously warned out groomer that our dog was very sensitive to having her nails trimmed and touched, but she promised it would not be a problem. 5 minutes after we drop off our dog we get a call from the groomer saying she can’t cut our dogs nails because she is barking and wiggling. AND WE STILL HAD TO PAY, FOR THE 3 NAILS SHE CUT. Unbelievable.My dogs has never been so stressed out. When we picked her up she was shaking, and her nail was bleeding. I highly advise against bringing your dog here if they are not perfect and super still. The groomers are really unprofessional, and only went through an 8 week training program. They should not be grooming dogs. They hardly had any equipment that would have made the experience smoother. Like a lift for the dog, or a tub. It was just a high up table, and two young woman trying to forcefully hold our dog down.It would be way more worth your time to just go to the professional groomer right down the road. Our groomer was Skye.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE GROOMING SERVICES! 😡

Went I'm today looking for a hamster. Absolutely blown away with the amount of help, knowledge, and kindness of the employees I had the pleasure of dealing with. Jessie mainly helped me out with the entire set up, I needed everything. Knowledge, pet, food, just everything! He also made it really fun and actually really quick too! Thank you so much for everything again!! So happy I chose to go when I did and where, it really was a great time and I learned alot. I will definitely be a returning customer and be referring people to the store. 😊

Very friendly and efficient staff. Love how all petcos layout is the same. Only thing I wouldn't ask to use the bathroom. They just opened at 9am I was in there at 930am and the bathroom was filthy. Not a busy store.

I bought 6 guppies and 2 mollies, 5 guppies and a Molly died. I have a very well cycled tank and other fish in it that are fine. Wouldn't recommend buying fish here. They are not taken care of. Cat litter is cheap though 🤷‍♂️

The little girl who is the "groomer" and the general manager do not care about your dog. Today I was in TJ Maxx next door, several people heard a dog screaming from PetCo through the shared wall. I went over to PetCo, and tried to ask the groomer about the dog, (she was a young disrespectful employee) then asked for the manager. His response was "What do you want me to do about it? The dog has probably never been in a crate before and it's stressed!" I'm sorry Mr. Manager, but YOUR JOB is to come up with a protocol to CARE for the dogs in your grooming area. If that old dog's owners had heard the way their dog was panicked and screaming, they would be shocked! Horrible treatment of your animals when bringing them to PetCo for grooming- don't do it. Just go to a real, compassionate, professional groomer. I am shocked that the "groomer" and the manager let that pup scream in panic for hours waiting to be picked up. They have a bad reputation, and I heard it for myself today. They will not take care of your dogs - they don't care about animals.

Cared for my 5 month puppy with his first bath at petco! He came out smelling great and happy! He showed he didn't like the blow dryer so they stopped and let him air dry. Let us know he might be damp due to fear of the blow dryer. I was happy they took my puppys emotion of fear and handled it with care! We definitely will be back!

If I could give this store a 0 for price gouging I would!!I just went in here to get a can of Pet Corrector Spray and almost dropped over when I saw the price. I had to look twice!!I realize we are in an inflationary time but to even try to pass this off has to have some consequences so I took a picture and will be forwarding to my friends at the State. This just plain taking advantage of the consumer and hoping no one sheds any light on it. well, you are mistaken and wrong!Needless to say they had a "can off air" (6oz at that) priced at $32.95!! Petco, I realize you are a "big box store business" in it for the profit but to even try to say you care about pet owners and pets and try to pass this off is to say the least shameful, and you SHOULD be ASHAMED of yourself as a business!Lets see how the cookie crumples on this one when it comes to accountability and ethical business practices with the State of VT.PS: The consensus I have heard is that most people are going to One Stop (Myself included) where the atmosphere is MUCH MORE professional, helpful, and caring and they are not taking your shirt and your pants when they sell you something. One Stop is a great store and if you are looking to get away from the disaster know as 'PETCO" take a ride literally 1 minute down the road. You won't regret it.

Good prices, employees is ok. They need to improve their inventory ordering system. Also they need to improve their shelves stocking. Every time I go there for guinea pigs food and supplies, their shelves is always empty. I'm gonna have to start going to the feed store in Montpelier from now on.

They are simply amazing. The staff is friendly and helpfully when you ask them question. They even managed to help bring in my very stubborn Newfoundland for his grooming appointment. I also HIGHLY recommend the Grooming Salon. Joey has ways with animals. He immediately got down on the floor and let my pup come to him and he helped him calm down. Joey is very efficient and professional. I don’t know what I would do if he left. I will most definitely keep coming here. Also a shout out to Dameon and Brittany for helping me with my dog food when I did curbside pick up!! What a wonderful store!!

I arrived at the store at 7:59, got to the doors and they were locked at 8. My animal is at home giving birth. I needed supplies because I didn’t know she was pregnant. This is not ok. If it happens again I will go to the higher ups. Doors should lock 5 mins after closing

The employees were wonderful! We adopted a baby boy ferret and LOVE him. We named him Moses. The little guy is so happy to have a home. He couldn't stop kissing my nose this morning! Thank you for writing to us. Moses and Panda Paws get along wonderfully. My husband and I are so glad to have had the pleasure of adopting our new fur baby. We just love him.

Too many out of stocks...fresh pets (in tubes)always/low..never any of the salmon..my dog is allergic to chicken and now the only fresh pets available has chicken. This week even the treats i normally get were out of stock - i continue to do some shopping there hoping this will change byt gradually shifting my dogs to other food and my business to other stores

Usually I love this store, but there was a new girl running register and overcharged me for a few items and this guy staking shelves would do a proper price check. Didn't know how to void items or what she was doing and she wouldn't ask for proper assistance of a supervisor and just looked spaced out and not with it at all. Let's just say that was the worst costumer service I've ever seen in my entire life from both people and im still not empressed and unsure if I even want to go back to petco.

The staff was extremely rude, and acted as if I was incompetent in taking care of the animal I was trying to purchase. ( I worked in THIS location) less than a year ago, and have never been treated so bad by a customer service provider in my life. They pester customers about the facilities there pets are being sold into but their own facility is disgusting.
