First time visiting, and I walked out with a puppy.Knowledgeable, friendly staff who were happy to answer all my questions.My fiance and I have a dog at home. They offered us the opportunity to bring our dog there to see how he would do with a puppy.Upon purchase, they gifted us the same dog food our puppy had been eating. They told us to mix it with the food we wanted to start her on to help her stomach.Puppy was up to date on shots. I do have to take her back for another one soon, which is discounted and administered by the certified veterinarian there.Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would buy a puppy and/or older dog from there again.

I love this place! They are a small overflow no-kill shelter which means they help other shelters in the area minimize overcrowding. It is astounding what they accomplish with a staff of only 3 people and a handful of volunteers. I started volunteering here about 6 months ago and they are very flexible with their shifts. If you are thinking about helping with pets, this is a great place to get involved. You can spend time with the animals but also help with a million other operation things that always need to be done. Volunteering behind the scenes I see how much they care and the work required just to operate a small rescue like this. Daily cleaning of all the animal spaces. Daily cleaning of everything else. Daily feeding and scooping poop and changing litter and washing bowls and sanitizing everything all the time! And they run a vaccination clinic!If you are thinking of volunteering, do it here. If you are thinking of adopting, do it here. If you are thinking of donating to an animal rescue organization, do it here. (They are too small to qualify for many of the animal welfare grants available.) This place is great and worthy of your time!

Was a great experience. I was greeted & checked in, they have great alternatives to rawhide chew bones and best of all my pup didn’t flinch or even feel his combo vac shots because the tech was so gentle and quick- will be making a donation and purchase soon! Thank you

I am shocked that I didn't rate this awesome shelter before this. We adopted our dog, Sassy, 2.5 years ago from them. Highly recommend!! They are so very dedicated to all of their animals. When we were looking for a dog, they were the most knowledgeable about each dog that was in their care. I really appreciated that when we did adopt a dog from them, that they took the time to talk to me about what to expect with my particular new dog. They even gave us a free bag of dog food to help with the transition to whatever brand of dog food we had at home.

We've adopted both of our dogs from here. We have used their boarding service when we are out of town for vacation. Affordable boarding and they do a good job with the animals.

I have only the greatest things to say about this shelter. My husband and I adopted a dog from them in January. His name at the shelter was Ken, but we named him Mac. With how many dogs you have you probably don't remember him, but he had SO much energy when we met him and decided to adopt him knowing he would be a handful and difficult. As soon as we adopted him it's almost like he knew we were his people and always would be. He ended up being the easiest dog in the world to train. He was potty trained within a week, crate trained super easily, and was trained off leash the first 24 hours. He now hikes peaks with us, backpacks and camps with us, mountain bikes with us, etc. He has traveled with us to Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Canada, all over Utah. He's our perfect dog. For all the energy he has as soon as he's around children he becomes the calmest dog you've ever met. I am eternally grateful for Second Chance for Homeless Pets for saving our Mac. I'm hoping to find some time to volunteer here to repay them for what they've done for us. They take care of everything for you; neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, etc.

We were looking for a kitty after our 17 year old Maltese dog passed away. We discovered Sacond Chance Homeless Pets online and went to check out their cats and found a black and white kitty named Stone. We were ready to take him home but ran into a snag when we were informed that he was under quarantine for 14 days because he bit the person who was attempting to give him a rabies shot. So we anxiously waited the 14 days and came back and adopted Stone. He has turned out to be a delightful and very loving cat and the best part is he doesn't shed! Thanks to the folks at Second Chance for the great care they take with their cats.

We came just to "look" and found a puppy that was everything I wanted...next day I came back to get him haha :) The woman who helped me, who is also the owner I believe, was so amazing. We came kind of late, 45 mins before they closed, and she was patient and did not make us feel rushed. I definitely recommend coming here for your next furry friend!!

I took my pup to get her second shots. I think we had a better experience than all my local vet check ups! They explained everything to me, gave me info and I was in and out so quick!! I love this place! Will recommend and will be back!

I adopted a cat here almost two years ago named Nova. She went from being terrified of everything to being as sweet as possible. I appreciate that this place does not give up on animals. The staff was very helpful and provided useful literature for caring for cats that have been through difficult times. If you want to adopt, this is the place to go!

Staff is absolutely helpful and nice, they gave me a great guidance when I adopted this cutie. Even after his adoption, I called them again with some questions, and they were very helpful :)We are going to be forever thankful to Second Chance for Homeless Pets for allowing us to meet this little guy. Utah is part of our family and he has brought so much love and joy to our lives.I highly recommend this place if you are considering to rescue a pet, you won't regret it!

Went there because the humane society kept running out of animals for black friday 2018 and it was the best decision I've ever made. Adopted the sweetest boy in the world (Rugar). He came with all his shots, he was chipped and he has been the best! They are a great place to find an animal to give a forever home to. Please go check them out! :)

We adopted our newest fur baby from here. The staff cares about what they do and you can tell they love the animals! His name was puptart, but we found Loki fit him better!! Hes a very sweet and energetic dog..... Even the cat has finally accepted that he's staying lol!!

They have great pets. But would not let us adopt a young kitten because we didn't live in the area. It was too young to get fixed. Didn't take into account that I have 2 others that are fixed and chipped. And I would have got it done.

We recently adopted our dog, Ember, from Second Chance. Rhonda, the owner of the establishment, was so kind and incredible in every imaginable way. She was very patient with us and gave us all the time we needed to get to know Ember before we made the big decision to adopt! It's obvious how much Rhonda loves each and every animal in the shelter, yet she is well informed about the different challenges that come with adopting a new pet. They're super friendly.You can walk in and mention what kind of dog or cat you're looking for.They helped us by letting us bring our dog to meet our future dog.They also have a shop with toys, leashes, treats, etc. at really good prices.

We love these guys. We come here for our pet's vaccines and have never had an issue. They handle our pet's with care and love. As well as any animal I've seen in their care. Prices for services and products are good and fair. I only wish I could have them closer to us.

I volunteered doing Foster Field Trips to get the dogs out of the shelter and socialized for a couple hours and then return them. I'd recommend this program to anyone. Doing this not only was a good way to get to know the great shelter staff better, but also gave us a chance to get to know the dogs. We ended up adopting one!

The website was hard for me to navigate, but I'm sure that's partially my fault. I have never adopted a dog before. I have always bought them. Chihuahua's are what I have had for over 20 years. I just put my last Chiweenie down at 14 with kidney failure. I am very interested in adopting a Chihuahua, or Chihuahua mix. I'm hopeful about adopting 2 female young or puppies, but I'm getting more discouraged every day. Both my daughter and I are disabled and we can't have a big dog. We will keep looking. 😊

The girl helping us was so kind! Took the time to let us play with our new dog, as well as took her into the cat area to make sure the dog would get along with my cats at home. The process was so easy. We are in love with our new dog. They spayed her and took her stitches out for free.❤️❤️

Update: adoption process was quick and easy! They let us play with the one we were interested in. So grateful to know they try their best to save all dogs. Lola is now 3 years old. I got her when she was 4 months and she’s the best pup ever. Thank you!
