We come here frequently for our tarantula feeders but I must say the selection of specimens is amazing! We love just looking around.The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. They answer all of our silly questions and even show us things they know we will love but didn’t notice. Amazing all around. Pictures are our most recent purchases from the shop!

I am so impressed with the Scales N Tails Riverton team. The store is Spic and Span always, the employees are knowledgeable and so quick to assist, and I have a great experience every time I stop in for feeders. They are not pushing me to buy a new pet like so many other places; but they are always teaching me something new I never knew about before. It’s fine that they run out of certain supplies from time to time; that just tells me that they have a high demand for those products, and they inform me the next possible date they get in their newest shipment. I just wanted to let you all know that I have not found a place like this before and you should be commended.

The owner is a gollum with his bathroom. Due to “owner policy” my 7 year old was unable to use it when we were there to purchase a rat and crickets. I had to haul my 3 kids out of there to take them to the near by dollar store and she almost made it but had an accident, which was fun to clean up with a toddler on my hip and embarrassing for her. Stupid policy especially for paying customers in an emergency. Most employees are awesome, I’m not sure her name but she is always so kind and helpful. The guy that wouldn’t bend the bathroom policy for a 7 year old might be spineless or heartless.. not sure which one but I hope the owner gets hit with a bout of the runs and is told to run 150 feet..

I’m giving this review 2 stars because I was not impressed with my experience, and the store itself. I recently moved here and was excited to see a reptile store near me. I decided to check it out and definitely was disappointed. The store was boring, small and nothing about it stood out. As I walked around i noticed some things. each enclosure was insanely dry. When i looked into them, the water bowls were super low, sphagnum moss was completely dried up, the substrate was super dry, etc etc. it made me sad to see such tropical animals like chameleons in such a bone dry hot environment. even the store itself didn’t feel humid at all. Weird when humidity/moisture is one of the #1 priorities for reptiles. I also noticed a big ball python that first of all, had way too small of a water bowl, and second of all he was so hot that he was completely inside the water bowl, and there was no water left to cool him down. just straight up sad. I decided to buy some frozen mice after looking around. The worker literally just grabbed all the mice with her bare hands and then proceeded to touch everything and anything around her. I understand doing something like that in your own home, but while working at your job? and touching everything after just spreading it all around? It was just gross to me. I paid for the mice and my jaw dropped at the price. over 32$ for 10 MICE?? to me that is absolutely insane!! then they asked if i wanted to tip? definitely not after paying THAT much for 10 tiny mice. I also noticed the entire time i was there, an employee was on his phone the whole time. just staring down. I don’t understand the mentality of being glued to the phone, while on the clock, while there is a customer in the store. I will not be returning and I will buy my mice elsewhere where they are reasonably priced!

I just bought my son, a Mexican red knee tarantula at Scales reptile store. We had a great experience. We were a day past their big sale, but they gave us the sale price anyways. The animals there are in extremely good health and the employees are happy and knowledgeable. They took the time to answer questions and determine the sex of the tarantula. We are excited about this purchase. There are a lot of awesome pets available at this store.

Tyson helped us with the purchase of a leopard gecko. He was very helpful and patient as we learned the best ways to feed and care for our new little friend. We love their frequent buyer cricket card and our kids really enjoy seeing all the cool creatures they have. It’s a great place to go for your little (or big) reptile fans!

their sick animals are not separated. (the frog in the photo is my own before he died) i've owned three frogs from here, two of which died as babies. my third one, despite giving him as much treatment and help as i could, did die of bacterial dermatosepticemia, it's heartbreaking owning an animal you love deeply and cannot help. i miss my sweet boy, and i wish those other animals gain healthier lives somewhere else. sleep well, my sweet boy🖤

Great little shop. The staff have always been incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. Many own reptiles themselves and so they have great experience to help people new to reptiles or those while had them for a while. Good selection of geckos and bearded dragons. Several varieties of snakes as well. Tanks and the needed materials to set them up properly.

Tyson, Steve, Lydia and Emily are super amazing!! Everytime I come in they educate me on somthing new. They make great conversations and man do they make me want to buy everything!! They handle the animals very well to the point they've tamed a green tree python!! The enclosures are always clean. Very impressive store!

Great store with great employees. The store manager is very knowledgeable about tarantulas. I have purchased the majority of my reptiles and tarantulas here and they have always been in good health. Their prices seem fair and they treat their animals really well.
