This is with out a doubt the most disgusting pet shop I have ever been in to. The employees are very rude and have no clue how to care for their reptiles. I found dead animals in enclosures, every snake was covered in mites, and almost all of the reptiles were severely under weight. They also had no pest strips sitting on top of cages, which are not meant to be used around people. Even in the brief time I was in this shop I over heard the employees asking each other if the customer noticed what was wrong with the animal they wanted to buy. I didn’t get spoken to once the entire time I was in the shop, just glared at and almost pushed by an employee. The one picture shows 4 large ball pythons in a single 40 gallon tank.

I adopted two chinchillas from here. While the employees were very nice and helpful, the chinchillas set up was awful. They had no padding in their cage for their feet putting them at risk of bumblefoot, no dust bath, the chin on the top half of the cage had no wood to grind his teeth on, plastic ramps and platforms with no covers for the chins feet, etc. While the chin on the bottom at least had some hay the one on top did not even have any Timothy Hay. Additionally, the chin on the top of the habitat was provided with a metal wheel for exercise, however this type of wheel hurts chinchillas feet. His ramps that attaced to his platform had broken off and were just laying on the floor of the habitat. Finally the temperature in the store was far too warm for the animals. This store offers a variety of birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals. They need to regulate the temperatures for the various animals, reptiles, and fish. Overall the employees are very nice and friendly, however they do not seem to know how to properly house the pets they offer.

Wonderful selection and great customer service! 10/10 recommend! If an animal is sick or new Jay won’t sell it which is great that he cares so much! These people are very knowledgeable and honest. Would recommend checking out if you’re in the area.

I really want to like this local shop but every time i go i feel uncomfortable and see poor husbandry. I am very concerned about these 2 specific snakes that are in a much too small tank. I wondered if they maybe had just been surrendered or maybe it was just a temporary set up or maybe they were currently paired for breeding but looking through reviews on here it appears they have been in this same tank for at least 2 years according to a picture on an old review. Reptiles are very easily mistreated because they can survive long term neglect. But just becasue an animal is alive doesn't mean it is okay to keep them like this. These snakes should be housed alone in much larger tanks with multiple hides and the ability to move from a warm side to a cool side. I don't know if they just are unaware or just don't care about these snakes. There are a lot of other husbandry issues with many of the animals It's just that the condition of these 2 snakes combined with knowing they have been kept this way for years is really shocking and upsetting. I want this store to do better for their animals.

The pets were healthy and there is a really good selection of harder to find fish. The location is fairly messy. Lots of boxes and spider webs. The staff was helpful but seemed sad. They didn't speak much and seemed disinterested in being there. It's not that they were unfriendly, they were just completely neutral and didn't speak unless they needed to. Kinda odd. But they were helpful. The tanks could use cleaning out

DO NOT SUPPORT JAY'S JUNGLE. The store is disgusting, there are flies everywhere. The animals do not have good living conditions, there are too many of them in cages together. We bought a bearded dragon here because it was cheaper than other places, and the dragon is sick. Jay is extremely unfriendly and the store system is extremely disorganized. Don't like it at all.

I have been here a few times yo get supplies for my reptiles as there are some pretty cheap prices. But when I went to the back to see the animals I was horrified. Every animal is grossly over stocked. I get it’s a pet store, but this was way too much. 3+ adult leopard geckos in a 10 gallon tank is not only dangerous for their health and safety, but also doesn’t allow enough room to have proper heating/cooling/humidity. There were many cages of leopard Geckos in horrible condition. They had stuck shed, we’re barely moving, had injuries, MBD (deformed bones), and were very malnourished. I’ve had leopard geckos for a while now and it made me so sad to see. There were many other reptiles in small tanks that were extremely overstocked.I cried on my way to another pet store, as I couldn’t afford to save them. This is horrible.

Bought a bearded dragon, within a week it was dead. We had all of the appropriate lighting, offered him greens and crickets, but the beardie refused to eat. We were going to take him to the vet but the beardie died within an hour of setting the appointment. We returned his body back to Jay and he instantly shifted the blame on us instead of apologizing for selling us a sick pet. We did get our money back, but will not be shopping here ever againI also noticed that all of the bearded dragons there had very poor lighting and were all lathargic looking with their eyes closed.

Love this place. I get crickets weekly for our lizard. The staff is super friendly. I've bought plants here as well. So pretty and they've done so well.

Went here to get some stocking stuffers for my pet ball python. The staff was nice, but I had a hard time giving them my business after seeing the condition of their ball pythons. Maybe they just don't know how to keep ball pythons or don't care.Stuck shed, no thermal regulation, no hides in any of their snakes enclosures. I wish I could have taken them all home with me.If you're considering to buy a ball python from them, make sure you do enough research on how to care for your animal so they are kept comfortable and happy. Buy everything you need for your ball python and set it up before you take them home so you know everything is perfectly regulated.

Great pet shop right in the middle of Provo. Went there looking for a bird and find that they have a great selection for a good price. Many of their products are cheaper than your regular pet shop. I will be buying my fish tank supplies here now on. Highly recommend this place.

So I've been coming here since I was a kid, and after a hiatus of not owning any invertebrates, I was happy to hear that they had scorpions in stock. l went in yesterday, and there was one left, and let me say you can't beat the prices there's just no way, on top of that the owner was so helpful getting the Scorpion for me he is very knowledgeable, overall I'm happy to see that Jay's is still open for business, because this is one of the best pet shops I have ever been in I'd recommend this over anything that is in Utah County the animals are long lived and healthy I had a pinktoe frome here live for eleven years.

They have a lot of different options to choose from. A lot of birds, cages, etc. We first went to PetSmart but they only had 3 birds. Jay's had probably 100. They are cheaper too.They had reptiles and fish, tanks etc. Nice people too.

The employees were really helpful, kind, and not overbearing. This little sleeping rat was kinda creepy, but also kinda cute… Look at those teeth! They had a lot of animals that had babies recently, so it was fun to see that.

I’m a first time fish owner and was really nervous because I wanted to do everything right. The employees were so nice and willing to help me. They were able to balance caring for the animals and being attentive to the customers in shop. They were extremely knowledgeable about the different animals and how to care for them. They answered all my questions about the different kinds of fish I should get. The supplies were very low priced and I was able to stay on budget AND walk away with everything I needed! The fish selection was phenomenal and I am extremely happy! I highly recommend this place!!

Great pet store. I've been to multiple other stores in the area and the prices here are unbeatable. The assortment of salt and freshwater fish is the best thing here in my opinion. They have more exotic things such as neocaridina shrimp and discus here at very reasonable prices. The store itself isn't the nicest, but I don't really care about that. The staff are more introverted, but always ask if I need anything when they are close by. Overall great place.

Good, local pet store. They have many animals and supplies in stock and are willing to order more for you. The owner and staff are willing to answer your questions and help out as needed. Prices are fair for what you get-sometimes cheaper than bigger pet stores.

We stumbled into this shop to explore & had a good time looking at all the animals - fish, birds, small reptiles & rodents. They have a large selection & the place felt friendly. It was a bit messy & smelly, but I guess that’s what you get with a pet store. We didn’t buy anything yet but might be back for some fish.

I used to work in a commercial pet store where rodent care could be greatly improved. This place was way worse. They use pine shavings for their bedding, which for hamsters is very dangerous, as they are allergic to it. I can't imagine healthy hamsters coming from here ever. Additionally there are waaaay too many rodents per cage and they really smelled. Their rodents are not taken well care of.If you want a cheap bedding that is safe for hamsters: Aspen. But to use the same bedding for all rodents, upgrade to paper pases bedding that is unscented. Care fresh or kaytee have this type of bedding.

Jay has a great selection of fishes that won’t cost you what it costs at Petco or PetSmart hands down. What I like most was when I went with my sister today he had new inventory that came in he was honest and said I’m not comfortable of selling them to you cause it’s not acclimated yet come back in a week and I’ll sell them. I love that honesty you don’t get that now a days everyone trying to make that quick buck. Just wanted to sure my experience. Will always comeback here to get more fishes

Very sad reptile keeping. Many territorial animals were housed together and in tanks much too small. Politely asked the employees about the improper husbandry, to which we were told “you don’t know what you are talking about.” If you want proper information or a healthy animal, go somewhere else! Prices were cheap, but you get what you pay for.

i used to work here before moving & decided to visit while i was in the area. Nothing has changed. The animals are still not treated well. Many of their water bowls were disgusting or dried up. The conditions they’re being housed in are dirty. I saw multiple sick animals, snakes with stuck shed, fish showing symptoms of disease. The rodent room smells violently of ammonia, to the point where I would go home with watery eyes & a burning feeling in my nose when I used to have to clean in there. I would not shop here.

The guy can be pretty weird so I don't focus much in talking to him as before. He is cool with being left alone. Maybe he is as reserved as I am so I talk to his employees instead. Which might give him the wrong ideas as they are high school and early college students but I need someone to talk to before buying. HahaThe place is nice but requires more strict cleaning as some rodents need to be in better conditions.

Hands down the worst service I’ve ever had. I went in looking for some education on a new snake I had purchased there a month before. I had information of my set up and everything to try and figure it out so I could get it right. The owner, Jay was really rude, border line insulting about helping me and me asking questions. He ended up keeping it for three days to see what the problem was and when I went back to get the snake, he refused to give it to me and said he was going to keep it but offered my money back. I explained I wanted to care for the snake and asked to be educated on what the problem was but he said he wouldn’t help me and gave me a check.. bottom line, I would Never recommend anyone shop there(all though I guess you can get your money back.) but especially go there looking for education. Jay will not help you.
