*When it comes to the people and service here they are great! Id 💯 Recommend coming and checking out the animals please help them find new loving homes!! Id give them a 5 star rating for sure if I was rating only on customer service and pets! The place has been around a very long time and definitely needs some TLC which is why I gave 3 stars. Just had to clarify just in case someone sees my post and decides not to go cause of the 3 stars and miss out on finding a new furry/feathery/scaley friend cause of me (that would be so sad!) Please come check them out if looking to adopt🐾When I was little we used to visit Animal Ark on a regular basis and I had purchased many pets including gerbals and parakeet's. Being a HUGE animal person it was my "dream job" to work at Animal Ark when I grew up (tho that "dream" never became reality lol) This was actually the first time I had been back in over a decade or more!When I was little the store was always full of people and tons of different animals to adopt, it was clean and every pet I got from there was healthy and happy. That was a very long time ago tho (30 plus years) it's definitely a lot different than I remember. There is a lot of things that need to be updated and cleaned. The people working there were friendly and seemed to care. But some of the fish tanks were absolutely filthy and there are a lot of webs and tons of dust underneath and in-between the bigger tanks especially. Alot of the smaller tanks including the beta and axolotls were alot cleaner, but the place is very old and is in need of some deep cleaning and updating.I did love to see the adorable puppies and kitties and the parakeets since they reminded me of the ones I got from that same place so many years ago. The Axolotls are also adorable and amazing to see! But it broke my heart as well. I guess looking at a pet store as an adult vs a child I'm looking at it in a different way since I also am wondering where the animals come from. My daughter was with me and she is also a huge animal person. She actually wanted to leave cause it broke her heart she couldn't take them all home (any place there are pets needing homes she wishes she could adopt them all! Lol)They have been open a very long time so the place has changed A LOT since all those years ago when it was my dream place to work.What hasn't changed is how everyone is extremely friendly and kind as always. I'm sure the staff are doing all they can to make the pets happy and healthy, I'm guessing it's just a lot of work since the place is a lot older now and needs a lot of TLC. Bless all those who help out the sweet animals and I hope they get the clean, happy, healthy environment and attention they deserve and all find new homes soon! 💕🐶 🐁🐈‍⬛🐾

This is my favorite go-to local pet store. I mainly shop for aquarium related products, specifically aquarium fish, plants, and aquascaping supplies. Although other stores MAY have better selection or better prices for fish, there's no comparison in aquascaping supplies and selection of aquatic/vivarium/house plants in ALL OF UTAH. They even have their own special blend of all-in-one aquarium fertilizers and liquid carbon, with unmatched prices if you come back for refills.The owner's name is Mike, and he's a very knowledgeable guy in all things pet related and a talented aquascaper. When you go there, you'll many times see the aquariums and the vivariums that he designed himself, that always look stunning and beautiful.This store is the exact Animal Ark that's many times mentioned in popular YouTube channels such as Clint's Reptiles. They do have a wide range of reptiles for sale, and even greater selection of invertebrates both pets and feeders.

Really enjoyed coming here. It does feel kind of... heck I don't know the word. Almost old? But not gonna lie it has such a nice feeling when you get there. Sure, like all pet stores, they have to overstock some animals in order to have enough stock to make profit, but it seemed like the animals were being cared for in a very satisfactory manner. Kudos to this store, they have good availability and I was able to find supplies I had previously only found online.And can I just say the sheer amount of fish they have is jaw dropping. They have species I had never seen in person and overall is an amazing selection of fish. I love this place.Edit: came in here again just earlier today (Dec 21) and I was just blown away. I had a few questions about plants and shrimp and betta fish and the worker went above and beyond to teach me all about all the above. She sold me on an awesome plant and I just felt so taken care of and informed. Absolutely wonderful experience. I dont remember the workers name but shout out to her! Thank you for making my day :)

This place has a lot of aquariums that have a variety of fish and plants. Each tank is not just a genetic tank with fish like all the other stores. They all have unique layouts, substrate and plants. It's nice to see a store that has actual aquariums. This place has a TON of driftwood and rock. The reptiles also have enclosures with unique plants. It shows you they care for their animals. We will definitely be back

Really cool local pet store and for being local I didn’t find the price to be higher than a big box pet store. I had never been somewhere with stuff for aquaponics, so I feel like my mind was opened to a whole new world here. They have a good variety of plants and animals!

I was disappointed in the cleanliness of some of the animals enclosures, specifically the reptiles. There were a few that were very dirty and some with rotting plants in them. I know it cane be hard to keep plants alive but once they are literally rotting and turning to mush, they need to be removed. In one semi aquatic setup one of the plants had fallen or grown into the water and was completely rotted. Their was a layer of scum on the water from it and what looked like mold. I also noticed in their plant section quite a few moldy plants. Not as big of a deal in my opinion since they aren't in with animals but i wouldn't want to buy a plant that had been sitting next to a moldy one. I think its nice they are trying to give animals a naturalistic set up but if they are unable to maintain them all them its not worth it. I was also kind of unimpressed with the staffs knowledge. I know its unrealistic to expect them to be experts on every single animal they have but i was hoping for some info.

They are selling locally donated blue death feigning beetles for $35 EACH (usually $10-15 online) and claiming it's because of shipping costs, and when called out on it the owner said he'd do two of them for $60.The employees were super kind and I really appreciated them and their time, but that just seems so dishonest of the owner.

The are amazing, you can tell they really care for your animals. You will never find a neglected animal here, the staff is also super knowledgeable and can answer any of your questions about care. I never go anywhere else.

This pet store has an amazing selection of beginner freshwater plants! I've had these stem plants in my 5 gallon for about 6 months and I can't get them to stop growing. Not to mention they sell precycled media! Support this local shop and I garentee you won't be disappointed.

Animal Ark in Orem is one the best places to go to find a Pet! They have the widest range of animals to choose from. Reptiles, birds, dogs, cats, and fish are only a few of the great options to choose from!I think this place is a Diamond in the rough because of the options and supply for your pet.

The staff were great, knowledgeable and super friendly. Went in with my daughter to get stuff for her snakes. Their prices were excellent and selection was great! I picked up something for our ferrets, and they approved! Will definitely be shopping here on the regular!

It's a little bit small the place but I can see every person working there cares about the animals. I got one cat a year ago and one this last week, they hated each other at first but now they play together and sleep together. Pinky pie has a family now

Animal Ark is the Best fish and plant store in the state.I am an avid fish keeper. I like exotic fish, particularly Apistogramma. I also enjoy a very full and beautiful planted tank, to the point where I put CO2 into my tanks to get better plant growth.Animal Ark is the best fish and plant store in the state. I drive well over an hour just to visit this store. They are always busy and sometimes it takes a while to get a hold of an employee if you go after 5pm because of how busy it is. This is because they are so good and people love this store.

Best pet store in the area. Competent, helpful staff. Large selection of animals with pretty good turnaround, specifically with reptiles and amphibians. The staff appears to have a significantly better understanding of small animal pet care than a place like PetCo or PetSmart, in my experience. Prices are fair for the most part. Overall just a great local pet shop that I love supporting!

The baby birds are super cute 😍😍😍 I wish they carried Java sparrows but they're not common here to begin with. The cockatiels, Quakers, and conures appeared very friendly. Sadly, because of local thefts, their cages have locks with codes on them. But other than that the birds are cute, the staff is nice, and they love their animals 💓

I've been to a lot of pet stores in Utah, and they are the best I've seen. The husbandry is the most accurate, and they generally don't put a bunch of reptiles together in one enclosure(unlike most places).The staff is also more knowledgeable than most pet stores, especially any chain ones.

I have been here twice and have had a great experience both times. The first time was a few years ago when we were considering getting a cat, and I remember the employee being very helpful and friendly. The other time was this morning. We went in and asked if we could see the snakes and the employee this time was also very helpful and friendly. He even got it out for us to hold. He was also very knowledgeable about snakes.This place has so many varied animals, supplies and even plants. We will come back in the future.

I got a bird from this location, it died within days and they wouldn’t give me a refund on the bird even after they said I just needed to take a picture of it. They’re scammers, take your business elsewhere.

My toddler girls spoke to Cassie (I think?) from Belgium, who works there. She is so great. She took time to let the girls see her feeding the fish and see the baby turtle. She is very knowledgeable and is soooo sweet. Great place great prices.

Hands down the best pet shop I’ve ever been to. The people working there were INSANELY knowledgeable. I was setting up my tank since I was a kid, first time making a high-tech tank, first time making a planted tank. Their advice was extremely helpful and they knew everything I needed to know about fish compatibility, plant options, and tank setup. My tank has been running for 6 months now and thriving on an insane level. Extremely grateful to have been directed here!

This place is truly amazing! They have a large variety of plants, animals, and fish. They take excellent care of their fish and usually have a wide variety available. The employees are exceedingly helpful, with a broad range of expertise. Xander is super helpful, and answered a wide variety of questions with great kindness and knowledge. The only thing that could be improved is the accessibility to supplies for tanks, such as a greater variety of filter types and available media. With that said, I highly recommend this store to anyone who keeps fish, bugs, reptiles, or any other type of animal.
