This smiths is awful. The selection isn’t great, food is often expired, and the store is dirty. The meat section always smells like rotten meat and I often do see rotten meat, the ceiling above the meat has some serious leaks, and the produce section is mildewy. I’ve reached out to Smith’s about it with no response. Some of the employees are actually really nice but I’ve also had some bad interactions with others. There are plenty of other grocery stores in the area that are much better than this place.

I will not go back to this Smith's again after the way I was treated and humiliated! I was in the self check out and wished I had went through the man check out but as I was checking out the manager woman manager I may add kept asking me did I scan this item or that item I'm like what is this I'm being accused of stealing treated like a criminal! I finally told her to leave me alone and let me check out my items! She abruptly said don't you talk to me or my people like that and began to pull my cart out towards the entrance and said don't come back here again or I will call the police! I said go right ahead and do that! I've done nothing wrong to be treated like that! A word to anyone that reads this to avoid that Smith's at all cost! They are pathetic and that manager needs to be fired not allowed to be a manager at any other store! She's a horrible human being to put it politely!!! Just a word of advice to everyone go elsewhere for your grocery shopping needs even if its driving a little bit further to shop for your groceries I sure definitely would to save me from the grief of dealing with that horrible WOMAN manager as she calls herself absolutely disgraceful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awful self-checkout, shows you videos of yourself doing the self checkout, makes me feel like a criminal. Self checkout scales are glitchy, and makes you wait for the self checkout employees to clear your machine, which they are never paying attention and takes forever, while the screen shows you videos of what it thinks is theft. Deeply insulting for honest people.

Honestly, this Smith's has the best bakery around here, period. All the different types of breads are authentic in taste and texture. The donuts have flavor and not overly sweet. They have a good variety to choice from.

I went it this store this evening to get ear plugs, I couldn’t find them so I asked for some assistance. I talked to 4 different associates including a “make believe manager “. I asked in a calm voice and all however after the 4th person that didn’t know where these could be located, I did simply ask, “ do you know what ear plugs are? That’s when the non binary person at self check out try to get crazy with me. I feel that these people that work at this store have forgotten who keeps them in business.

They sell expired food, their produce section has mold, the ceiling above their meet department appears to have a leak, and their selection is sub par at best. I won’t shop here ever again.

I’ve shopped at numerous Smith’s locations throughout Utah and I can say the 42nd street location is by far the worst I’ve shopped at. They are NEVER fully stocked unless it’s a few days before Thanksgiving or Christmas or if corporate is there. They don’t stock until later afternoon which makes it difficult for those who go early because they are immune compromised or elderly. You would think this location is ran by children and you can see that corporate doesn’t care too much because NOTHING has changed at this location as you see when you read through the comments. We have called around to see how other pharmacies are doing because this locations pharmacy is ALWAYS running out of medication. You would think management would go through their monthly list of medication that gets regularly filled monthly to be prepared and order what is being prescribed monthly and then some so they are on top of things. I was in back of a lady that was trying to get her antidepressants filled and they didn’t have any! Mental health medication is something you cannot just stop taking and that’s what is happening to patients that get their meds filled at this location. We will drive 20 minutes out of the way to do a grocery pickup at a different location because this location NEVER can fulfill a grocery pickup order due to them never having what is on their app! If I could give them a zero star review I would! We’ve even scheduled for a grocery pick up and show up at the time we were told and then when we go to pick up our order they’ve come out to tell us they haven’t even started our order that was made 4 hours ago!!!

Smith’s has nearly everything you can imagine. This store is always clean and employees are nice and helpful. The prices of Kroger brand compares with Walmart’s great value brand.

Had what I was looking for. Nice helpful friendly overnight stocker helped me find what I was looking for. Then self checkout cashier was great also when I was having problems with the barcode not scanning due to manufacturers screwing it up. Thx y'all rock

Floral person was absolutely unhelpful and unprofessional. I asked her for a bow and she acted like I she was horribly imposed upon. She tried to just wrap it around the oackaging it came with until I insisted it be placed in a clear plastic sleeve that was free. So unnecessary. She should not be interfacing with customers.

Me and my Grandfather shop here weekly . We have got to know the store well and a few of the employee's. Not a bad place to pick up your weekly meals.

Produce never seems very fresh. Don't like store layout. Some of the people who work here are nice but I catch a lot of attitude for even asking a question. Something simple like do you have this. Prices have gone up but quality definitely hasn't can't blame the workers at all as the company doesn't make the best decisions.

I shop here quite often and usually it is a fine experience. Today shopping was a different. It was past 9:30 in the morning and there were no cashiers open. It is hard shopping with 3 young kids but when there are no cashiers open it makes things more difficult. Adding to the fact that there was a line more than 4 people with carts waiting for the self checkout and majority of them were closed too. I’ve never been more frustrated checking out at this store than today. It took me almost as king checking out as it did getting my groceries around the store. Hoping next time will be better.

The self checkout is terrible. I've just summed it up as a mad machine the last two times but this time the computer kept thinking I was stealing and recorded my movements. Then wouldn't let me continue to check out until an attendant came. It took 3 times of resetting it to finally checkout. I'll also mention how uncomfortable it was to watch "footage" with people each time the computer accused me of stealing. Prior to that it was weight problems. There were 4 people working the self checkout to help everyone. At this point it would make more sense to just have them work 4 registers. Oh well...

I have shopped at smiths for a long time but this location has gone downhill in the past few years. Every time I shop there, at least one item is out-of-stock and I have to stop at another grocery store on the way home which defeats the purpose of shopping at smiths. They also have pushed more self-checkout and a recent change to the self-checkout software causes problems ringing in items and you often have to get assistance from the self-checkout person who is often not around or talking to other employees. They may have lower prices than other stores but I have to shop at these other stores anyway since many of the items I want to by are out of stock. I could understand during the pandemic but right now they are having problems stocking shelves and this doesn't seem to be a problem for Walmart or Fresh Market that I often go to so that I can buy what is out of stock at Smiths.

Didn’t get to experience much. Arrived 10 minutes before close to pick up some soda and worker closed doors on my face saying we are closed. I asked why since there was still 10 minutes and she waved her clipboard and closed the door.

I forgot her name, but the girl at the pharmacy with brown hair and a scar under each eyebrow was an angel! She was very pleasant to talk to and got me a discount on my medication without me even asking. If a manager is reading this: she deserves a raise.

What is going on with glazed donuts fresh from the bakery stand?!! They hardly ever have glazed donuts the last few months and they are getting obsolete except the prepackaged ones now. The Texas sized glazed donuts have been gone for over 4 months!!!. Highly disappointed at this smiths and the one on 12th Street Harrison. Both are slacking.

I’ve been shopping here for 6 years, this location has moved almost completely to self checkout. Multiple employees standing around, doing next to nothing. I’m moving on and going to harmons. Prices here are inconsequentially lower but with terrible service and the carts here all suck. A chance in management is probably due.

I really love my job here as a courtesy clerk. Been at this store ever since I got the job on Monday, September 11, 2017 (the sixteenth year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks from 2001). I started at this store on the 18th of October 2017 (right before the little remodel and also before the COVID pandemic started) and still at this store so it has been four years now. And like I said I really love my job. Next october will be three years since I started and next september on 9/11 will mark three years since I was hired here. I work 4 days a week 4 to 5 hours each shift. I take the Utah Transit Authority but have to transfer from 612 to 625 since the 612 bus going every 15 minutes does the Washington Boulevard route. And 625, going every hour, does the Harrison Boulevard route.
