Fantastic fresh soups and sandwiches. Prices are great. For seven bucks got a sandwich, bag of chips, dessert, and a soft drink! I would definitely go back as the place was clean and had a very large diverse menu. Also the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I've heard they've been around a long time, but growing up in the Salt Lake Valley I've never been here. I'm very pleased with my visit. The good menu here was great. My friend and I tried the paninis (turkey bacon pesto and chicken bacon ranch) and for being just a sandwich the flavor was worth it. We tried the soup combo and the cheesy potato soup was rich and tasty. We tried both of their sweet rolls (cinnamon and raspberry). Both were good, but the raspberry was my favorite. Everyone was nice and helpful with the menu. I bought my favorite sourdough bread and it was soft and flavorful. I'll definitely be going back for bread, lunch, desserts, and their frozen soup bags they sell of their soups they serve. Thank you everyone.

Simple, fresh sandwiches or soup. I had a grilled club sandwich on multi grain bread. There was nothing fancy or complex about the sandwich. It was well priced and tasted good. The combo came with a bag of Lay's, a cookie, and a soft drink. The chocolate chip cookie was over cooked, but other than that, I enjoyed my meal. Restrooms were clean and the staff was pleasant. I would not hesitate to eat here again.Parking: Just north of Bowmans with plenty of parking.Kid-friendliness: No dedicated kids meals, but they do have very reasonably priced sandwiches targeted at kids (pb&just, grilled cheese).

We Love Old Grist Mill here in Kaysville!Always a comforting meal waiting for our own delight...It's like bringing Sunshine into our souls on Rainy day...Great customer service, delicious food and the bread is always perfect! I always buy a couple loaves every time I come in. Especially the pumpkin chocolate chip bread.

We used to enjoy the sugar cookies here. About 3-4 years ago, we got them for the last time because they really were not very good. I decided today to give them one more try. After all, it has been several years, maybe they will be good. Today they had shamrock shaped sugar cookies and I got one dozen. The girl put them in a box, in 2 rows of 6 cookies, so they were kind of laying against each other. When I got home, I immediately took them out of their box and put them on an extra large cookie sheet so that they were laying flat. I couldn't even get them out of the box no matter how slow and carefully I went, without the stem of the shamrock cookie breaking off. About 5 or 6 out of the dozen broke off, and another 3 cracked and was ready to fall off. This was for a party tomorrow, so that was so disappointing. Then, I ate one of the stems that broke off, and it had a hint of a bacon taste to it. I don't know if they used an animal based lard/shortening, or if they had cooked bacon near by and the cookies absorbed the bacon odor or what. I ate a 2nd stem just to see if that would be better, but it tasted like bacon as well, along with a strong powdered sugar taste from the frosting. I wasn't impressed, and I probably won't be back for sugar cookies. The girl that took my credit card for payment didn't use gloves or wash her hands after touching the register and touching my credit card. She got a piece of parchment paper to put in the bottom of the box for the mint brownies that I had also bought, and tapped her hands all over it to get it in the box. That is not sanitary. The mint brownies had a cream cheese frosting, which I don't like cream cheese frosting, but I didn't know it was cream cheese until after I bought them, I thought it was buttercream since there was another brownie called "brownie cream cheese". To my suprise, they were good, and it wasn't an overwhelming cream cheese taste and actually complimented the brownie well. I also liked that the mint was not over-powering, it was subtle and the perfect amount of mint. I give the mint brownies a 5 star, but the sugar cookies a 1 star, so a 3 overall.

Oh this place… looks obscure… don’t let that fool you. I was in the mood for a good, hearty, delicious, homemade bread sandwich and that’s what I got! At a great price. I had a full sandwich, chips and a fountain drink for less than $8. They make, use and sell their breads here. Yum! But they offer so much more!! Cookies, seasonal quick breads, scones and breakfast!!! No more fast food or Starbucks pre made food. This is made to order on fresh bread….oh yeahhhhhI’ll be back in a few weeks when the weather cools for their daily soups! Andddd… not a cramped little shop. Plenty of seating so go and enjoy your food fresh there!

I love Old Grist Mill. The customer service was perfect. I was helped by a young man named Isaac who was very kind. He greeted me as soon as I walked up to the counter, and helped me order while making nice conversation. After I ordered he instantly started making my sandwich. As I sat down he did not skip a beat. He was either cleaning, or helping another customer. Very responsible employee. The establishment was very clean and tidy. And you get a lot of food for the price. I will be visiting again.

Cheap-skates. Sandwiches and cookies are good. Potato soup is bland and taste's like celery. They upcharge for EVERYTHING. They "issue" napkins. Sandwich, cup of soup and soft drink: $8.19. If you want the sandwich hot + .50. If you want it grilled + $1.49. If you want to upgrade to a normal bag of chips (they provide 1/2 an ounce), + .50. Crazy. Ate lunch with my wife = $20.00Kneaders, next time.

It's incredible how much their prices have gone up. Today was my last time eating there. The restaurant bubble is about to burst.

Called about buying bread bowls. The guy I talked to was very rude and ended up hanging up on me. I had a few other questions but he didn’t even give me time to ask. He was short with me and annoyed I called. Horrible customer service.

My friends & I use to go to The Old Gristmill about once a week. We went in one day, several months ago, & I let the worker know I wanted to purchase one of their brownie pans. I then ordered and received my lunch. Lunch was good, as usual.I’d already paid for the brownies so my friend and I grabbed our forks to dive in for a yummy taste! I’d purchased them before and knew I loved this one the best! One fork in and something was bitter! I looked up at my friend and saw her face.. she had obviously tasted the same thing. I took it to the counter & let both girls know about it. One girl walked away and the other girl told me it was fresh, but freshness wasn’t the issue. My friend and I knew what we’d tasted, and it was a bad nut..a pecan, I believe.I asked the clerk if I should get a different kind, or what should I do?? She told me I’d have to pay for another pan too. I was a little surprised, but I thought she didn’t understand what was going on..but she and the other girl just stood there, not knowing what to say or do. I told her I’d like my money back and she said she wouldn’t give it back, that I’d have to take the pan of brownies. I told her they really weren’t edible, and asked her to please call the owner. I knew I’d been in so frequently that he’d probably know who I was and I could tell him what was going on.She wouldn’t call..I haven’t been back. It’s too bad when you live in a small town with so few places to eat and one I actually liked has been crossed off my list. To be fair, I went to a store near The Old Gristmill and decided to walk in the restaurant and look around. I looked at a couple pans of sweets, and saw they’ve expanded their offerings with more bread, which was always good, but I smiled, looked around and finally said hello to the worker and they didn’t even acknowledge me.The taste of the food is important. But if the employees are rude or even indifferent I’ll choose another place to eat or just go home. Having a leisurely lunch out should be enjoyable on all levels.

I was fortunate enough to have been able to try one of their sandwiches for the first time this past Saturday, and outside of my own homemade, it was most likely the best sandwich that I've ever had.Between the quality ingredients, taste and price-point it puts Jersey Mike's to shame!

DELISH!!! I met a friend for lunch here today, to try it out for the first time. There were several groups of people dining in the restaurant, so I could tell it was a well-liked place. While eating and visiting, I noticed a steady flow of people picking up orders, coming in to buy bread, or staying for a meal. I am taking the time to write this review because I want others to know it is definitely a winner! I can hardly wait to go back!! I wish I had taken a pic of my amazing sandwich to share with you all. Mmmm!!! 5 stars from this Foodie!!! Taste and price are perfect! Friendly staff too!! Great job Old Grist!! See you again very soon!!

I wish this place was good. We went today for lunch. And our food wasn’t fresh. We ordered a sandwich and soup. The sandwich was nothing special and the soup.. I am pretty sure comes from a can. We also got a raspberry cinnamon roll and it wasn’t fresh.. so soggy and didn’t have any flavor.

What an amazing place! Came in with two build your own Sandwich orders (for my wife and I) and both turned out really good! I also got one order with chicken dumpling soup (amazing), a snickerdoodle cookie (soft and chewy), a fountain drink and two bags of chips. All of it was reasonably priced and the service was nice and fast. I will be back for our bread needs and future Sandwich orders!

This is a favorite of my wife and I for soup. Especially if one of us isn't feeling well. The soup we've tried has always been delicious, the servers friendly and the atmosphere inviting. If you are a fan of places like the soup kitchen in SLC you will like this place.Parking: Plenty of parking available.

One of our favorite local stops! The bread is superior to all other local bakery restaurants. The soups are fantastic, and sandwiches are great too. The owner is a very nice man whom is almost always there, and he has a great staff around him! On top of all those great items, I haven't even touched on how amazing their desserts are! No matter what you get you'll be pleased. Always walk out of here with at least one load of bread and a few desserts.
