Such a cool find! Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. We got brisket and the ribs and they were delicious. Also the cornbread was the best I’ve had in awhile. We had no room for pie, but next time will definitely try some as it looked super yummy and there was a huge selection of different ones!

Good experience. Would come back. Service quick and friendly. Lots of seating when stopped. The steak fries on onion rings great. The smoked chicken sandwich moist and tasty. The brisket sandwich moist and flavorful. The smoke on the beef was milder than I like tho. Both sandwiches served with a nice garnish.

So I came here twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. Dinner was awesome. Great food, awesome server, and great atmosphere. The second time was for Sunday breakfast, and the service was awkward and stale, the “medium” steak and eggs was beyond well done, and my toast for my meal never arrived. The “over easy” eggs were still clear. Awesome lunch/dinner, dangerous breakfast. Lots of potential here but comes down to luck of the draw.

Duke’s Slickrock Grill, Hanksville, UTThis town is very small crossroads with 2 restaurants: Duke’s and a Mexican restaurant. As plant based eaters we had low expectations in a town this size however we were pleasantly surprised to see a veggie burger option. And the double salad I special ordered was fresh and delicious, which is amazing considering all the salad ingredients are trucked in from many miles away. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was friendly.

I was here two years ago actually. But best service I've ever had. Pretty sure the boss served us and he was so nice and helpful! Gave us tips about the area, showed pictures for hiking suggestions and gave a free pie with us, as I had decided not to get one as I was looking for another type of pie. I was going away amazed, and that I write a review 2 years later is a testament to it's leaving impression!

Duke's Slickrock Grill is a fun, eyecatching John Wayne themed restaurant located in Hanksville!It is on the Utah State Route 24 road, about an hour from Capitol Reef National Park. We thought was ideal for us or anyone passing by to stop for food after or before a day's hiking in Capitol Reef NP!We visited Duke's Slickrock Grill back on the 24th of March 2022 when we were going from Capitol Reef NP to Bryce Canyon NP.It was pretty quiet on the day that we were there and it was just us and another couple that were in the place.Staff:Kori was our waitress on the day and she was exteremely friendly! She gave us some info about the restaurant and the town of Hicksville as well as the surrounding area which we really appreciated!Food:The food was ok. We both ordered cowboy stew which was lovely and seperately I ordered the Stagecoach which was the chicken fried steak and my partner ordered the McLintock which was the smoked beef brisket. Both meals were good but not mind blowing.However, the real star of our meal was the cornbread appetizer with honey butter. It was simply fantastic!Drinks:They served plenty of water and I tried a Larger native to the state of Utah which they served in a chilled glass. Which I thought was a nice touch especially on a warm sunny day!Decor:The interior is full of John Wayne memorabilia and western themed items that give it a uniqueness which you can only get in the West!Cleanliness:The restaurant was very clean and inside and out and the tables were all prepped for customers with various condiments and shakers.Restrooms:The restrooms were clean which is always a positive!Overall:We had a great experience Duke's Slickrock Grill and I would definitely stop here again! Solid 4 out of 5 on the Google Review scale or a 7 out of 10 if I could give it that.Parking: Plenty of parking out front of the restaurant!Kid-friendliness: This place would be very fun fpr children I would think with the wild west and John Wayne themes!Wheelchair accessibility: The establishment had a wheelchair accessible doorway with reserved parking spaces out front. They are located near the front door for the convienience of anyone who may require this.

Wandered in here while on a road trip—wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised! We received a really warm greeting immediately upon entering and service was fantastic throughout. I had a bowl of chili and it was prepared well. The place was cute inside and just taking a glance at other diners’ food everything looked pretty good. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to get here but if you’re driving through Utah this is an excellent place to stop!

What a delight in a small town. We had been camping for five days and we weren't sure what to expect for food in Hanksville, UT but we knew we had to eat. We arrived at an off time so we were the only ones in there. Place was clean. Service was great. Food was delicious. We had a couple different appetizers and three different meals. Everyone really enjoyed everything. I highly recommend the brisket nachos and pulled pork sandwich. My friends loved the trout.

I love this John Wayne themed steakhouse.The food is amazing. The service is great.I stop here every time I come through Hanksville.Be sure to get a piece of fresh pie after your meal....whether you have room for it or not.I prefer the blueberry with ice cream.

Either we were soooo hungry the food tasted as good as almost anything I've ever had. The smoked brisket was very good. I could literally taste the smoke flavor. Kori was our host and waitress and she was genuinely kind and this was a great place to stop to break up a long drive.

Driving through Hanksville we were looking for a place to eat and Duke's hit the spot. Such a great restaurant with superb staff. We felt right at home. They were attentive and were able to get our order out quickly. They have great menu for kids and adults alike. If you are traveling to/from Lake Powell or Capital Reef this is a great place to relax from a long road trip and enjoy a quality meal.

Wow this place is in the middle of nowhere! and unfortunately the area had suffered some pretty bad flooding, but Duke's was OK. We were seated quickly and the lunch menu options were fair. I had a taco salad that wasn't anything special and the rest of my group felt the same about their food. I'd say try something else in the area, but guess what? Give it a try.

This was a real gem of a find. We left Castle Reef going to Moab and saw this roadside out in the styx. I am soooooo glad we stopped.My daughter and I had the Wyoming Outlaw (chicken fried steak with hashbrowns) and I left not a bite. Kid almost wrangled hers as well. GREAT breakfast. Biscuits any southerner would be proud to call their own. Gravy was good and it was all cooked to perfection. Well done to the friendly staff and our thanks for being great.

This place is by far the best place to eat for n town. The service has always been excellent. The music the play is the good country music. The food is great portions for the money, and has great flavor. I have not had anything bad there, but my favorite is the burgers. The brisket sandwich was awesome, but I don’t like my bread getting soaked and soggy. This is our stop when we need food. Most people stop at Stans because they are not aware of this joint.

Absolutely amazing food and service!!We were about 50 mins from Hanksville and going to arrive about 15 mins before they closed. We called ahead and asked if they would be open and if we could still show up. They said Absolutely!! We arrived and apologized profusely, but after a 5 hour drive this was our only option. They were super excited to have us and asked us all about our trip. The servers and cooks were nice. They kept telling us to take our time.The food is legitimately really good too. We came back for breakfast too!

Had breakfast and dinner here during our stay to visit Cathedral Valley. Fries are very good. So is the Omelette and toast. Giving 4 stars because the pasta lacked flavor.

Good food, friendly service with a laid back atmosphere. Perfect stop on our days trip from Colorado. Will definitely be back sometime.Kid-friendliness: Friendly atmosphere for our four year old.
