Really was not sure how to rate this one, our cabin was nice but the smoke detector was lying on the kitchen counter not in the ceiling of the bedroom where it should have been, the bathroom sink would barely drained even after their maintenance person came to fix it, other than that the cabin was good. As for the resort, part of the reason we chose Dutch John Resort was for the activities listed, such as the basketball, volleyball and gym to name a few but the basketball court had no backboards and thus no baskets, the volleyball court had weeds about knee high and the gym was dirty and some of the machines did not work. The employees in the office were very nice but did not have any answers about the condition of the questions I had on the activity portion of the resort. Would I go back, probably not unless things improve.Nearby activities: Flaming Gorge Lake

The resort has a lot of potential. We stayed in spots 43/44. Great things are the water pressure, size of pull through spot, close dumpster for trash. They have also planted nice pines for privacy between the spots. BEST thing was the very friendly staff at the desk/gas/fishing supply. Things that could improve and reason I gave a 3/5 rating. No wifi available as advertised where we were located. (We did go to desk and inquire if we were doing something wrong. Nope- no access in the back.) The area was not kept up well. Very high weeds(ticks) between the lots and lots of mud when it rains. Which means lots of cleaning. Especially when you have pets. Our jeep actually got stuck in the ruts. This could be solved by adding rocks. There is also some sort of storage/junk yard located in the camp. It does have a fence. But unsightly. As I mentioned this business has a lot of potential. But we will not stay here again. There are other campsites in the area with amenities that we find necessary.

Skip the Ice Cream! We had been told that the shakes and hard ice cream were amazing so we made the trip to the resort. Menu board shows an Oreo shake for $6 but we were charged $9 because they were out of vanilla soft serve. Hard ice cream shake should have been delicious but when served, it was the consistency of warm milk with powdery Oreos crushed in it. It was inedible and very disappointingFood & drinks: Skip the Ice Cream! We had been told that the shakes and hard ice cream were amazing so we made the trip to the resort. Where’s the option for ZERO STARS?On a girls trip fishing trip and we checked in to the moose cabin which we expected to have a working heater when it’s 17° degrees outside. That was a fail. Maintenance came by and mentioned they could upgrade us to a newer cabin with heat. Manager was not accommodating that we were requesting a cabin with heat in the bedrooms. He wanted us to pay more money for the upgrade. He moved us to the fish cabin with no heat and proceeded to give us the excuse we could get more blankets. We had asked for a refund since we found another resort to stay at 10 minutes down the road with working heaters. He refused to give us a refund and I mentioned our friend will be requesting a refund with her bank as we didn’t receive the services we paid for. He responded good luck and that will never happen. My response I will write a review and attach photos. He said he would comment soon on this post. Want to hear the millionth excuse on why we didn’t deserve a heated cabin in 17° weather? Stay tuned! This is short and sweet I could have written a NOVEL of the unprofessionalism this man (Dave/David) displayed to us.***Response to the owners reply: I sleep with my thermostat at 62° every night. I did not want my room at 80°. I wanted a HEATED cabin with the low at night below 7°. We were offered a space heater and more blankets, that’s unacceptable. ***Since Dutch John was unable to provide a warm cabin and that’s what we paid for naturally we wanted a refund. If I wanted to use a space heater and more blankets I would have brought a god damn tent on this trip! ⛺️

We stayed 3 nights, we were supposed to be 4. When we arrived bathrooms were filthy, I spoke to manager, and she said the person who cleans was off on the weekends. Three days later someoneMOPPED the floors a dirty mop. They were rude about it. I have pictures of the dump. yea the reservation was under my wifes name. still your place. do you have a gas station out in front?

My 24 year old son was visiting flaming gorge and and had some mechanical problems with his car . The front tire lug nuts came loose and the tire fell off. He was able to put it back on but the lug nuts were partially stripped so needed to be replaced before coming back to Provo where he lives. He was able to drive to this resort and they said they could replace the 5 lug nuts. They said they would have to drive to vernal and get the parts from an auto zone which was a little under an hour away. They then said they would charge him $400 for this repair. It took 20 minutes to fix the car once the parts arrived. I really think they took advantage of my son that was in a hard spot. I don’t mind paying for service , but feel this place is a rip-off . Don’t have mechanical problems at this place

The bathrooms needed supplies more often than it did not.one of the cabins the air conditioner did not work so they had to put up with hot rooms. We had 27 people there this year for our 1st visit and really overall it was absolutely fantastic other than those 2 little small factors. They were working on the playground the volleyball court so the kids had to find something else to do. thank goodness we brought bikes and games for them to play. Warm days and cool nights We all enjoyed and had a good family get together.

We stayed at the luxury cabin at the Dutch John resort last weekend. It wasn’t clean at all. We got charged a $200 cleaning fee for a dirty place. There were bugs and spiders everywhere and the kitchen barely had enough cookware to get us by. For the price of one of these cabins I wouldn’t recommend it. The two people working in the store weren’t friendly or helpful at all. It’s too bad- we stayed here 5+ years ago and had a great experience.

Have been camping for 6 years and I can count on 1 hand the really unfortunate places we have stayed in... this is one.It is run down and the showers are horrendous.. rust in the shower and curtains don't even pull all the way across for privacy. The one good thing was a fire pit, but the view from there was a barbed wire fence around a junk yard.Do not stay here!

Rooms were nice to come home to after a day on the river. They were clean and in a great location after pulling out of section A. Sure beat camping after a long day on the river and we had some rain so it was nice to take shelter. The communal fire pits were great and still provided the outdoor experience in the evening. The lower level of the plus X features a kitchenette and couch but was tight for 3 adults. We didn't spend much time in there so it was ok. The food options were disappointing. The restaurant was pretty much closed down. They did some to go food, mostly fried. We had to drive up to Flaming Gorge Lodge to get a real meal. It was the end of the season in mid September so maybe they were ramping down. I would definitely stay again.

We went to the restaurant and gas station only. I don't have any knowledge of the lodging. The restaurant space is very cool. The ambiance and artwork were rustic and appealing to the fishing community. My husband and I both ordered the fish basket with fries for lunch and it came to the table overcooked, the deep-fried batter was black. Our waiter may have had a language barrier or wasn't experienced in how to wait tables, but I believe he tried to be attentive. He would stand silent and motionless for long periods of time looking at you, which was weird, but he was likeable. The gas station charged us $7 for two cups of hot chocolate we had to make ourselves from powdered Swiss Miss packets. They only had premium gasoline and we didn't feel like paying $5.69 per gallon, which would have been forgiveable except we stood at the pump in the cold wind attempting several times to get regular or mid-grade, with a message that our card was declined. Just put a sign on the pump so people know.

The motel rooms are great! The beds are comfortable and very clean. The hooks and boot tray are perfect for drying and storing waders and other clothing! The bathrooms are nicely renovated. The electric fireplace is very cozy and the TV is awesome! Additionally the staff are all very friendly and the food is exactly what we wanted before and after long days outdoors!

RUN, DON’T WALK, FAR FAR AWAY from Dutch John “Resort.”We arrived in the middle of a snow storm only to find our room at 40 degrees F… when we turned on the “heat” it was pushing out cold air into the main bedroom where 3 of us 4 ladies would be sleeping. We spoke with maintenance who agreed this was not working, we went to the front desk to ask for another option or for this to be addressed. They moved us from the Moose cabin to the Fish cabin, unfortunately the smell of propane was extremely strong and this cabin was also not heated properly. We were told that there would be no other option nor would there be a possibility of a refund. We chose to stay somewhere else. After reading other reviews I now see this is a common problem that they ignore. Save your money, the photos speak for themselves.

We stayed at the RV park which is pretty nice. We were a little disappointed at the store and "steakhouse"? You could not eat at the restaurant. It was take out only. The place to order food from was not very well kept. The showers were OK. There was a nice laundry room. The fitness center wasn't open. The sporting goods store was really nice! Everyone was friendly. It just seemed to need a little TLC and better upkeep.

I have mixed feelings about this place. There are some beautiful aspects like the duck pond and the trees but there are other aspects that would keep me from coming back. The bathrooms and the laundry were dirty. There was trash littered on the ground and dogs that were not on their leashes. The help that checked us in seemed a little tired but the gentleman riding around in his cart asking if we need help was wonderful!

I have stayed at this resort 4 times. When I travel I always look for a place that has a good shower house. This resort has a large, roomy, modern shower house that is always clean! That's truly all I care about, but besides this, the restaurant has very good food and they have specials on the weekends that I did not ever want to miss out on. The staff is funny and full of personality. They have several local people working that know a lot about the area. I have used their shuttle services and rented rafts many times and I discover something new and get a lot of great pictures every time I go. The resort has a relaxed atmosphere and the area is a great place for families, there is so much to do.

We rode our Harley out to Flaming Gorge to see the the sites and check out the dam. We rented a plus cabin for the night to rest and what a nice experience it was! The cabin itself was very nice, however, it could have been cleaned more thoroughly for sure. It wasn't real bad but, it wasn't really clean either. Dutch John Resort is in a great location and they have pretty well anything you could need. The steakhouse was GREAT! The food was prepared perfectly, we had a steak dinner, and I would highly recommend the 16 oz. ribeye! Also the waitress Leeann was so nice we would go back just to see her again. Thank you Dutch John Resort, for a great anniversary night! Also the ride in was epic 😎 some of the most beautiful country in the state of Utah hands down! Do not hesitate to stay here you will love it!

I've been going to Dutch John every year for the last 3 years. We have rented fish cabin in combination with another cabin each year. This year the AC in Fish cabin was working well for the first 2 days and then broke the last night which wasn't great because that was the day we did a lot of cooking. My family in the 2 story cabin were cool an comfy with working AC. But all this is better than camping in a tent. The location is ideal for rafting on the Green. We rent our rafts from Dutch John Resort and the rafts are well maintained.

The only good thing about this place is the location. Every time I’ve stayed here the room or the share bathrooms are filthy. They are understaffed and will put you in a room/cabin that has not been cleaned. They have the WORST cancellation policy. You basically can’t cancel. They will not refund your money. Beware of this awful place.

if i could give this place 0 stars i would. which is sad because i’ve been here before and it was awesome. must be under new ownership or management. we came all the way from slc as a gift for my father in law. the first cabin we were assigned to, the pipes were frozen and the heater was completely off. nobody had gone in prior to our arrival to turn it on or check it. the next one they wanted to move us to, same thing. finally we got into one with running water and heat. we mentioned to them we had a infant with us and if there were ANY issues with the heat we’d have major problems. i have emails upon emails proving i’ve been communicating with them with no response. well, they did respond after i sent my first major email only to answer my one question about the restaurant and store and front desk all closing at 5pm. early. when we checked later there was still staff inside afterwards. god forbid we arrived after 5 pm. at 5am we noticed we were FREEZING cold. heater was blasting at 90° and it was blowing COLD AIR. we have our infant in a onesie, sleeper, bear suit and beanie. under blankets. it’s 55° in this room right now. DO NOT STAY HERE. we’ll be speaking to them in the morning. i’ll update based on that experience. UPDATE: we had to leave due to the room getting colder and colder. google says they opened at 7am but they decided not to show up for work today. Unless they opened later they had no posts about that anywhere. Don’t lodge here. Absolutely horrible service. Still have had no reply to my emails.

Been staying here 2-3 times a year for the past 4 years and have been nothing but pleased. I’d like to see the restaurant open a little later to accommodate later (because I like the food) groups coming back from fishing the reservoir or the Green but I understand it’s a tough thing predict.I severely smashed my pinky finger while getting ready to leave there this morning & wasn’t prepared to clean it medically. The nice lady at the gas station took care of me. Cleaned, disinfected and wrapped. Just had to come on here and leave a deserved good review as way of saying THANK YOU!

Total scum bags. Paid $150 for a vehicle shuttle. They left the lights on and the battery was dead when we arrived. I had to buy a new battery. The manager said “we did the shuttle” and if they killed my battery by leaving the lights on, it’s not their problem. They will shuttle your vehicle, yes, but they will take no responsibility if they do any damage. Their only job is to move it. Damaging private property is ok with them.We live in a world where some business do the minimum and charge the maximum. Most ppl are good, this manager is not. He told me “go ahead, write a review. No one cares about you”
