1. Service needs supervision by owner along with training of staff, felt like early 20’s were running the place, no attention to detail.locked doors no introduction to the room which had wife controlled heaters, no written instructions in the room. Door entry instruction was also nonexistent. Our room was at the top of the stairs around the back .third level. There was no way directly to the lodge on the second level, you had to go all the way down to the ground level and check the door, it was often locked. Then had to walk Around the building to gain entrance to the main hall on the second level. Hand rails on the west need sanding and varnish. I got a sliver😩. Wi-Fi was a hassle. All passwords for their numerous networks were not provided in our room. Why even have passwords if you’re a mile from the neighbors??? Their needs to be ownership supervision on all levels, the only part that functions well is the restaurant. But there was loud music of course😵‍💫. This could be a great place but needs a lot of supervision and teaching before that happens.Rooms: Nice overall but needs more instructionsNearby activities: LotsSafety: Hand tails need sandingWalkability: GoodFood & drinks: Good

I'm glad we had reservations here because the location was perfect on our journey. We only got the bedroom they offer for a one night guest, and it's window faces the dining area - glad the restaurant closed fairly early. The room was TIGHT with the bed and a cot for sleeping two - no walking room. They have a cat on the property who is REALLY a traveler's Romeo. He snuggled with us until 4am and then wanted to be released outside into the wild and started cat calling until 5 am.It was an experience!

Service is essentially non-existent at this rustic remote cabin/lodge. In our two days there we never saw anyone behind the desk or serving as a manager or cleaning the rooms, but we were awoken at 7:31 one morning with the sound of a backhoe moving rocks. Wi-Fi is next to non-existent and cell service is zero bars. It is one step up from camping but that is a bear slight step as the showers are out of doors and the communal restroom may be down the hall or across the Gravel Road in the thistle Thicket. Be prepared to rough it in a yurt and count yourself lucky that you're out of the rain

I hated it. I shared my room with a mouse, a couple of spiders, and several beetles. The comforter was clearly unwashed and smelled awful. There was actual blood on the bathroom wall. There is no cell reception and Wi-Fi is spotty. Management was impossible to reach and the food was inconsistent at best.Rooms: Actual trash. The bed was okay but the bedding wasn’t washed. All the furniture was broken. Mice and bugs had free reign.Food & drinks: The kitchen was closed half the time and when they were open they switched back and forth serving canned, cold meals and yummy home cooked ones. It was very inconsistent and frustrating.

My husband and I stayed at the studio at the Headwaters Ranch. We had a really nice and relaxing stay. Although the space was a little tricky to find when we arrived, Lance the property manager pointed us in the right direction. Really clean and nicely decorated space. I loved waking up to the cow moo's from the farm and the birds chirping. Also the private water fall/swimming hole was an awesome added feature that my dog loved. Really nice as a pet friendly option too.

It is a very particular place, that we found and immensely appreciated, and where we appreciated the nature and quality. We stayed 3 days, the chalets to sleep were Cos y and very nice and the cooking is absolutely delicious, oriented towards local product and very creative.Dominique and Jeanne Marie from Switzerland

This was a very nice experience. It was remote, with very few people and beautiful scenery. We stayed in a cabin and used it for a base to explore the surrounding area with a fantastic hike one day up Lower Calf Creek Falls. The accommodations are very nice and clean. However, it is very rustic and rural. If you enjoy solitude and time away without distraction, this is a wonderful setting. If you need to be able to call the front desk, order room service or step out for an evening with a variety of restaurants and entertainment, this is not for you. There was wifi, but I had no cell service for nearly three days. This is not a criticism, just something to be prepared for. We will certainly come back.

Beautiful ranch with unique cabins and yurts. Food at their sweetwater restaurant is one of the best in the region. We had a wonderful stay.

This place is amazing it’s our second year in a row staying here and the staff is as friendly and helpful as ever and since they were having some issues they gave us a free upgrade. The scenery, the remoteness, the beauty, the whole package is just so incredible and worth it. We will be back again! And we’re telling our friends about this place.

It was absolutely incredible! We had been on the road for 22 hours, and the beds were exactly what we needed! They also helped us get dinner on Wednesday night when many of the town restaurants were closed. It's so comfortable with so much personality. The views are absolutely beautiful and all the animals are so pleasant! Breakfast the next morning was incredible and super filling for our day of planned hiking!

If you have an opportunity to stay at this magical place take it! The land is secluded and beautiful. We stayed in the large tipi and it was perfect. Such a unique experience! We ate at the sweet water kitchen and had the best meal we had in a long time. We watched shooting stars at night. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, and there are endless places of beauty to explore nearby.

I first stayed at the Ranch in 2009, when I believe the new owners had just recently acquired it from the previous owners. I had an amazing time there. The ranch was beautiful, the location is simply magical - so many wonderful hikes to explore - and the people working there were welcoming, friendly and helpful. I only had great memories from my stay there in 2009. This year I planned another trip to Southern Utah to celebrate my birthday and since I'd be in the area, I thought I'd stop by the Ranch again. I was expecting to enjoy staying there but wow, was I impressed! They have improved it so much since my first stay years ago. My friends and I stayed in the Cowboy Tent and were so happy with it, especially considering the price! The beds were very comfortable, the tent was very clean and warm and had an amazing view. The outdoor 'live" shower surrounded by plants was such an incredible experience! They've built a great garden by the main ranch house and I loved knowing that most of the food I was eating was fresh and coming straight from the garden. Oh and the food! The Sweetwater Restaurant surpassed my expectations. I had read online reviews saying how good the food so I knew the restaurant had improved a lot since my first stay - but I honestly didn't expect it to be that good! My friends and I had a 5-star gourmet experience in the middle of the desert. Very creative dishes with amazing flavours. It was an incredible dinner, we were all so impressed. We went hiking to the Calf Creek waterfall and to the "100 hands" petroglyphs, both hikes were amazing and very close to the ranch. To conclude, my experience staying there again this year was even better than I had expected. The owners have done an amazing job over the past few years, it was very clear how much work and love they have put into the Ranch. I'd recommend this place to anyone going through the Boulder Mountain area - families, couples, individuals. And thank you to the staff of Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch for making my stay so pleasant once more. I will definitely return!

What an adorable hidden gem! I found this place because I knew I had to have dinner at Hell’s Backbone Grill and wanted to stay somewhere close because I was going to be dead to the world soon after finishing dinner. I decided to treat myself to sleeping in an actual bed after having been camping for the last week. I stayed in the main lodge, in the smallest of the rooms. There’s 3 rooms that share 2 bathrooms in the upstairs, but I was the only person upstairs the night I was there so it was fine. I could imagine if it was totally full there might be a wait. I was originally planning to take off at dawn to get an early start to more hiking, but the bed was comfy and there was a continental breakfast so I stayed a little later than planned. Totally worth it. I drank coffee on the patio that looks out over the property and the garden that they use for the small restaurant that’s on site. From the map I saw in the office, it looks like they’ve got a large property. I only stayed in the main lodge, but I couldn’t see the cabins or tipis that were mentioned on their website, so they must be farther back. Such a lovely place, I will definitely be coming back at some point

We discovered this place because we were searching for a place to have dinner, and most of the options in Boulder Town were closed. We were surprised to find this guest ranch in an area we’d never imagined had any infrastructure at all. Our group ordered burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. All were excellent. The chicken sandwich was particularly good. The setting was beautiful and the atmosphere was lively.

We stayed in cabin 2. Spacious living room with kitchen, two bedrooms. Comfy beds and great views! Loved eating breakfast by the waterfall (easy walk). Saw cool birds too.

A beautiful, unique, serene get-away! The staff were great, Kat, Eric, and Heidi were the ones we had interaction with. We were the first residents to stay in the main Lodge in many months, because of the covid virus, so there were issues. Kat was very good with working through the room issues. Eric, the chef, helped us with the dinner ordering issues. And Heidi helped us in multiple ways. Thank you. But there are issues. We were frustrated problems attempting to communicate with calls, emails, or using the web site. We had a great time walking the grounds and enjoying the tranquil and beautiful evenings and taking in the amazing location.

Stunning Cabin #3 was perfect getaway for two busy couples meeting for fantastic Escalate weekend. The cabin is spacious, comfortable and has a lovely upstairs deck (with 4 chairs) that was perfect for dining and sunset views. Morning coffee was on the shaded back deck (also 4 chairs). Compact kitchen with stove, oven and microwave. Full refrigerator (get some ice in town for cocktails). Super nice WiFi, 10 mb p/s speed, although who cares when you’re in heaven? Heating, AC, full bath with excellent shower. Charcoal grill. Sweetwater kitchen is a hidden gem and we loved the carbonara, salads and cocktails. Lovely outdoor deck dining in serene haven. We love staying here and will return!

We had a lovely time here. We stayed in the Cowboy Tent, which was the perfect balance between a cozy indoor space and the outdoors. The breakfast in the morning was simple and delicious. The best part about staying here was the dark. You can see the whole night sky and every star in it.

We stayed one night last July. The directions would have been impossible to follow in the dark, except that my husband is very familiar with the area. Once we arrived, our room was small and very spartan for the number of beds it had in it. The worst part was that the "air conditioning" unit they had for our room was not adequate to actually cool the top floor room that it was in. AND in the middle of the night it started beeping and wouldn't stop until we unplugged it.Breakfast consisted of an extremely dry bread and unripe fruit. While the proprietors were nice, and the area is gorgeous. And we did expect a spartan experience with a shared bathroom--the fact that our bedroom never got below 80 degrees made it difficult to sleep--which was the reason we were there. TO SLEEP. We will not be staying again.

Boulder Mt. Guest Ranch provides the most phenomenal experience you can imagine! The accommodations are superb, food is delicious and the staff provide exceptional customer service! A special shout out to Cassie at the front/reservation desk. She is kind, friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area. And Lev is another phenomenal staff member. He works hard in the kitchen to provide an excellent breakfast and is full of great ideas for hikes and bike rides.

Group reservation was booked 3 months ago for 2 nights; we drove over 4 hours and arrived at the ranch. Even though we had confirmation (we had six cabins booked), there was no room for us! Office manager couldn’t justify, why rooms were given to other people!! Not friendly staff. We had to drove back to Escalante and find a place to stay overnight. After lots of arguments, front desk was able to give us 2nd night stay.We came to the ranch next day around 8pm, after long day of hiking, no one were there to check us in! We had to use our phone torch to walk to the office. This ranch is in Farms, very dark soundings!! Then the office girl came in and open one of the cabin for us and gave us keys for other cabins and left. We could not open one of the cabin. There is no emergency phone number, where you can contact someone. You are on your own! With all the noise, guest from other cabin came out and help us open the cabin with knife he had. (Thank you, Sir). Last year his daughter had similar experience, even though she had confirmation, her cabin was given to some else!!My husband’s bunk bed was not even done, seems like used  Place is not as clean as it seems!! Be aware before booking this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was intending to camp outside town on a crosscountry bike trip a few years ago but the temperatures were subzero - some kids at the grill in town rang up this place and they had a room available and the receptionist stayed up very late to welcome us in. One of the best value places I stayed in my whole America trip. I was peeved we hadn't arrived earlier to properly appreciate it, would definitely stay again if I was in the area!

Way, way off the beaten track and absolutely worth a visit for two or three days. We used the Guesthouse mainly for overnighting between trips out to Bryce Canyon and so didn't explore the local trails, but I suspect they are wonderful. The highlights of our stay were several creative and delicious meals - far better than expected - and hanging around the fireplace afterwards trading stories of the day and, sorry to say, checking our phones (btw WiFi was pretty good but not great). Highly recommended overall.

This place is for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature. There is no cell service and internet is very limited, so come prepared to get out and enjoy the scenery. Boulder mountain is minutes away with beautiful scenic pullout; so breath-taking views are available without hiking. The lodge has limited services meaning come prepared and have your meals planned ahead of time. This place is great for weekends, but really comes alive for events like weddings and life celebrations. Also, the teepees and outside structures are great and add more of an out in nature feel.

Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch is incredible! It may not be for everyone, but it is definitely one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Talk to the staff--- They are always kind and insightful, the food is excellent, and it's the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of the escalate/grand staircase area. There are many many exquisite hikes and drives all around, BMGR is the perfect place to begin your adventures!!
