To put it simply, Dr. Drake and his staff actually care. He and his staff cared for our elderly puppy Rocco during his last stages of life by easing his symptoms and struggles. Alamont was a good partner, gave good advice, and (above all) empathized with our plight. Are they perfect? No….but they are committed to finding a solution and helping you be the best pet-parent.

I have taken all my animals to Dr. Drake for 14 years. He is amazing and you can really tell how much he and his staff love animals and care about their well-being. It doesn’t matter when something happens with my animals, if it’s an emergency we call the office and his answering service gets ahold of him and he says meet me at the office. Pricing is always reasonable. Would always recommend Dr. Drake and Alamont to anyone!

Dr. Drake is a wizard with animals. Our cat Azaka is a hassle when it comes to touching his ears. Somehow, Dr. Drake just gets in there, does what he needs to do, and boom. Done. He’s a pet whisperer. 100%. Top it all off with the amazing pricing that Alamont has, you’re set. A dr. that keeps your pet calm and does it for great prices…that’s hard to find. 10/10 recommend.

You could not ask for a more compassionate, knowledgeable veterinarian! Dr. Drake and his staff are absolutely amazing. This month I had 3 pets taken care of with injuries, teeth cleaning, neutered, vaccines etc. I highly recommend for your furbabies and for your peace of mind that they will be taken care of 100 percent. Drake is a great vet.. he shoots straight and let’s you know what your pet needs.. you won’t over pay a dime. I have been going here for years and I always leave very satisfied.. bath done..nails done… and really “done” My pets don’t like to leave this vet home.. they love the workers who clearly love pets. I am always satisfied with prices, especially when the service is actually done. I have been places and they bring out my dog and I look at their nails and places where I can tell if my dog was washed.. nails trimmed properly… and it’s not done at all, and they know it’s not and won’t even bother to check what i’m talking about, when you feel a vet is all about money .. it is. Thanks guys.. and always remember Alamont First 💯edit to add: that things are still going great. I still recommend Dr. Drake and support his work,and care for all animals. He has tremendous patience. When we are worried, he remains calm which calms me the worried parent. My pets love it here, it’s is a very calm and quiet environment where only the animals are talking. This is a respectful place which respects your pets,your time, and your hard earned money . He is very knowledgeable, and shares that knowledge with you, so you can help yourself at home before having to make that trip to the office. He strives for health not money

I do not ever give reviews but this review is much deserved and needed. Dr. Drake has saved 2 of my cats as an EMERGENCY VISIT. He tried for days to save my other cat and had exhausted every possible thing for him, it was just his time to go. Dr. Drake is very intelligent. He cares about the animal, not the money you're paying him. He will and does go above and beyond always. I will NEVER GO TO ANY VET THAT IS NOT DR. DRAKE. He is the best of the best. He's so thorough and he takes his time with your pet. He acts fast and effectively. 10/10 stars. I will even travel hours if I had to just for him to take care of any pet I have.

The staff are always very helpful and friendly and they take the time to appreciate my pets when they are in, instead of just looking at them as a means to a paycheck. My pets actually like going to the vet! I refuse to take my pets anywhere else. The drive from San Antonio for the treatment my pets receive here and the fact that my pets feel safe makes it worth it. I really love this place!

Although it was a very sad day for us we had to say goodbye to my best friend Oley. The staff were kind and caring. Giving my son a few last moments alone to say goodbye . Gone but never will be forgotten. RIP Danger

Took a female dog to get spayed, chipped, and vaccinated today. They said that she threw up while under anesthesia and gave her an injection (of a motion sickness medication) without calling to see if that would be okay with her owners. After getting the bill we found out that the medication was $75 but sells for $21 online. I'm not completely sure if she actually needed the medicine but the owner was unhappy about the extra cost without being contacted before-hand. I'm not the owner but I did help pay for the treatment of the animal. Therapy looking cat upfront was very nice though.

The staff there is extremely friendly. Dr. Drake is fantastic, thorough, and has a good knowledge base to help you make your decision. No complaints. I've taken dogs and cats, and both were treated like family. Even their pricing is very reasonable. Doesn't try to push anything on you and nothing frivolous. Really just a very good vet office.

The last thing I want to do is relive this experience, but if it helps you find a better vet for your pet, I'm glad to do it.This morning, we had a horrific accident where our dog ran under my wife's car as she was backing out of the driveway. As our dog died in my arms, my wife called Alamont and the answering service answered. As my wife, who could barely fight back her tears to talk, explained what happened, the lady from the answering service asked her what she wanted the vet to do about a dead animal and suggested we call animal control to come pick the animal up to dispose of it. She hung up as I began to tell her what I thought about her inconsiderate response. We called back and asked to have the vet call us. After quite a bit of time had passed, we started driving to Sugar Land. Once the vet called back, there was no apology for how insensitive the answering service was, just a mediocre apology about the response time of the callback that belittled our situation more than offered any sort of sympathy. Absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful. The emergency vet hospital in Sugar Land treated us with comfort, professionalism, and respect. They were patient while presenting us with options and showed sincere sympathy for what we were dealing with.Please consider other options before you choose this business!

After I found a stray kitten in Wharton, I knew I needed to seek veterinary care as soon as possible. I called Alamont first thing in the morning and they were able to work us in for a checkup. We established care, received medications—including dewormer, antibiotics, and flea/heart-worm medication—and his first vaccine for a great price! I highly recommend Alamont and we are so lucky to have an affordable option nearby with great customer service and a caring staff.

On 8/18/23 🐈 I had to rush one of our barn kitty's to Alamont Vet clinic, because she was being attacked by two stray dogs, by the time I could get the dogs off her, she was in bad shape and in shock, I wrapped her in a blanket and kept her as level as possible . I knew the office did not open till 8am but we had to drive to Wharton , I knew they would be open by then . The office gal told me they were booked solid for the day, I explained I was a current customer and this was an emergency. They found a way to get us in, and Dvm , Dr Hoffpauir saved her life. With the right combination of medication and wonderful care Elsa made it and used one of her 9 lives . We are so grateful for the care she received.

I chose Alamont Vet Clinic on the recommendation of friends, not because they're affordable but because of their expertise and experience with rescues. So I brought my rescue shepherd puppy here twice. My dog is smart, affection motivated than treats, and fights the leash strongly. She's a rescue so she had a hard life as a stray and may be dealing with trusting humans again. For the first visit, we came to establish care after the adoption from the shelter, yet I think we came at a busy time which was towards closing time. Dr. Drake and his techs came in and asked for my dog's name and how she was, but didn't ask for my name so I had to interrupt and say my name and I'm the owner (who's paying the bill), at most. Other than that, he and the tech were very gentle as they checked and gave shots. Clear instructions for at-home care was given with brief explanations, no sweat. Our second visit was supposedly for boosters but puppy had an ear problem and we encountered Dr. Muegge. My puppy immediately melted into Dr. Muegge's hands, but that's my dog's tendency, she's cautious of males of any species she doesn't know. Dr. Muegge and her tech was just as gentle and patient as Dr. Drake. She patiently cleaned puppy's ears and taught me how to do it at home. Puppy was skeptical of the treats given to her but let the vet care for her as she probably appreciated the calm tone and touch given to her. Again, I had to interrupt and introduce myself. At the end, she also gave clear diagnosis and plans for the dog. I appreciated that she shared her experience with rescues too. Worth mentioning also, is Ms. Grace who's helpful with scheduling. I also appreciate that they don't hard sell on the food and pet care they have, they just mention that they have items on hand. I'm given the time to consider or decline the offer. Overall, I'd come back and recommend this vet team. I wouldn't stick to one vet to socialize my dog since both vets are great. Maybe the only slight need for improvement is to acknowledge the human that brings the animal.
