This is one of those if you know you know places. It's an amazing place to stop if on a road trip. The food is always good. You will javelin plenty to choose from. The BBQ plates are priced right, and the service is always amazing. I've been stopping here for years and always see the same people working at the counter. They know what they are doing. The restrooms are always maintained very well. They have gifts for just about everyone if you need something quick and qorky. If you are thinking about stopping at buccees, save yourself the time and go here instead.Parking: Large open spaces and dog park

I absolutely have to stop here if I am anywhere close by. I love their sausage, real authentic kolaches, and all the things you can only find here. There is always a line so please pack some patience. But definitely worth the wait. I did discover this trip if you get ground sausage kolaches it is not pan breakfast sausage they use ground link sausage. My favorite kolaches this trip was the czechadoodle and the poppy seed. They have a new section outside that has all kinds of metal art that is awesome!! Love love love Slovacek’s.

As you’d expect, this was a sensory overload experience but so far everything I’ve eaten is totally worth it!!I had a jalapeño ranch chicken salad sandwich for the drive home. It was delicious, savory and with the right crunch & kick from jalapeños. I warmed up a couple kolaches at home, peach cream cheese and a Nutella cream cheese and OMGGGGG!!! Both are delicious! The peach had amazing flavor while the Nutella was decadent.I have several other flavors to try, a couple meat kolaches and a sausage plate - will report back!Little ones had brisket and it was delicious!

Slovacek's ExxonMobil Gas Station and Country Store is a true gem nestled along the Texan highways, and it's more than just a pit stop for refueling; it's an experience that leaves you with a smile. My recent visit was nothing short of extraordinary, and I can't help but share my enthusiasm for this hidden treasure.First and foremost, the convenience of stopping for gas is unmatched. The ExxonMobil station boasts clean and well-maintained pumps, making refueling a breeze. But what truly sets Slovacek's apart is their mouthwatering Texas BBQ. The aroma alone is irresistible, and once you've tasted their tender, smoky meats, you'll be hooked. I couldn't resist indulging in their savory brisket and tangy pulled pork, served with all the classic fixings. It's BBQ heaven, right there at a gas station! What surprised me most was their extensive gift shop. It's a paradise for anyone seeking unique country gifts. From handcrafted souvenirs to locally-made goodies, you'll find treasures you won't come across anywhere else. I spent a delightful hour exploring the store, picking up charming trinkets and gifts for loved ones back home. The friendly staff at Slovacek's adds to the overall experience. They're welcoming, efficient, and always ready with a warm smile. It's clear that they take pride in providing top-notch service.Slovacek's ExxonMobil Gas Station and Country Store is more than just a place to stop for gas; it's a destination in itself. Whether you're filling up your tank, savoring the best Texas BBQ around, or hunting for unique country treasures, this place has it all. Don't miss the opportunity to experience the heart and soul of Texas hospitality at Slovacek's – it's an unforgettable adventure that I'll cherish for years to come.

The butcher the baker, the candlestick maker. If you don’t know what to buy someone - come here. There’s a dog park and a whole outdoor gift store. Tha indoor section of the store near there tends to smell like dog.Complete tourist trap. I’d love to know how the locals feel about this. It’s completely overwhelming to me.It’s a hurry up (to order) and then wait (to pay).Sweet tea is not sweet. To me, this is not a true representation of the beautiful west community. If you want to see what west is really like, go into town, and try kolaches somewhere else. The biggest sock selection within 100 mile radius.

This is a massive convenience store! You may be stopping to refuel your vehicle, but you can refuel tummies with Czech sausages or your lawns with fun decor. How about some school spirit to fate your infant nephew into? It's all here! No human babies? No problem! Lots of room to run around for your 4 legged companions!

Smelled so good I couldn’t wait to take a bite ! Tasted amazing. All the staff was super friendly! Lots of cute things in there. (If you’re looking for a pineapple cream cheese they don’t have one 😂 it was asked many times) over all great experience would recommend to friends.

After all of my business trips into Forth Worth. I decided to stop in. It is so deceiving from the outside. This is a different spin from the Bucees that everyone goes ga ga for. I found this place extremely charming and full of unique items for those special people in your life. I would highly recommend a pit stop here. They even have a dog park for your furry baby. You won't be disappointed in your visit.

Their customer service was terrible . No help . We stopped by the day before and saw something we wanted at the “Christmas store “ . They explained to me that that store has no phone and i asked if they could try reaching someone to put a hold on a vase i saw . They left me on hold for 5 minutes and then hung up. I called back and she said ,”you just need to come see if they still have it” Little did i know that my friend called them as well trying to get the vase shipped to me for my birthday . The response she got was “if its here, it’s here you just need to come find out . So my advice , get a phone for the other store. Thank you

This is always a greatvplace to stop. Great homemade food selections. Bathrooms are very clean. You can get farm fresh foods here. If you want to shop, you can do that. They also have a large beer selection. They have a collection of kalaches(spelling). They also have gas. Looks like they just opened a Christmas store. This is a must stop and visit. They sale Exxon gas.

Was on a mini road trip and stopped here for breakfast. Finally got to try the infamous kolaches. They lived up to my expectations. I got the bigger jalapeño cheddar kolache and it was great. I also got a pumpkin fruit kolache. This is a great place to stop for gas snacks and food.

Super good BBQ and sweets. Got the 2 meat plate with brisket and turkey. The brisket was tender and had good flavor from the fat. The turkey was tasty. Also got beans and really good sauerkraut. The bbq sauce was a compliment to the meats and they provided extra bread. Staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful.

I had heard about West, Texas being the kolache capital so on my next trip to Austin I decided to do a Kolache taste-off and try some of the places by I35. The first one I tried was the best known, but it was disappointing - I felt rushed, and disappointed after my first bite. But on the other side of the highway was a sprawling new destination that looked like it would be pricey and a disappointment, but the only disappointment was that I hadn't gone there sooner. I could have spent half a day there looking around. The bottletop beer area was brilliant, and the bakery area went forever filled with delicious looking freshly made treats that were surprisingly affordable. I have done some research since, and found that Slovacek's started as a sausage company, and I would believe that - the jalapeno sausage cheese kolache was delicious - just the right amount of heat, and decent cheese as well. I may have to buy some sausage to take home next time as well! And I will be back... a lot. Now I have a new reason to travel south on 35!

Been driving by this place every time I drive from Austin to Ft Worth and back. Saw this place on the Texas Bucket List and Shane has never let me down! Just had my first experience here and had my first Texas kolache as well! Damn, I didn’t know what I was missing! Since I have nothing to compare to, I’ll just say it was simply Amazing!!! Fun place with a bakery and meat shop and the customer service was second to none. Will be my new go to when doing my drives back and forth. I highly recommend this place. Come out and support your local businesses and avoid chains!

Stopped for a quick bite. Heard great things about this place and it’s history. Very packed and busy. Decided to try the brisket stuffed kolache. Wasn’t much “stuffed” inside. BBQ tasted old and wasn’t much flavor. BBQ was laying flat like it was pushed down before baking so there was a huge gap for air between the meat and inner bread. Felt like opening a bag of potato chips. So I smashed down the sandwich so everything was touching. Nothing but air :/

Not much for truck parking but I could smell the Kolachies from the parking lot.Restrooms were clean, staff friendly and the line a bit long but that's just means ita good right?Quite the variety of items. And well, the choice of food, wow.I had a hard time deciding.Definitely will have to come by again.

Delicious kolaches full of "the king of flavor." The triple crown and jalapeno ones are magic.Beautiful Christmas decorations. If you have kids or are a Christmas fan you'll be mesmerized. Trinkets and decor pieces are a bit pricey though. The employees were alright, not exactly welcoming but not rude either.

Traveling on Veteran's Day, which is why it's as packed as I'd ever seen it. I love coming here. There's so much to look at and I love their kolaches! 😁 They have a variety of foods, snacks, pastries, even frozen yogurt. They are very well staffed, so even though the lines are long, there's not much wait.If you want to pick up some giftables, they have shirts, socks (even some with pockets), books, cups, mugs, wind chimes, coasters, bags, jackets, wine, ornaments, blankets, pajamas, toys, plush, garden decor, slippers... There's SO MUCH here. It's so neat to stop and walk around here or just take a break and enjoy some food on one of the tables. They also have a dog park behind the building so that you can have your pet run for a bit.The weather is cold and rainy right now, so the lights went out and we could buy last minute items since the card machines weren't working... Also, gas pumps are out.

Gas prices are what they are, and they have clean bathrooms. We only stop here when we are traveling through because we don’t live in West, Texas. I will say I’m giving this place three stars because if you are looking for something decent to eat the barbecue plate was pretty good. It is not the best barbecue I have ever tasted, but it is definitely better than stopping at McDonald’s or subway.
