The best products, amazing prices, and unbeatable customer service by knowledgeable people so overall 5 out of 5 hands down.If all you care able is a number rating review you can stop reading now because detailed review starts now.I’ve been following TheBioDude for a few years now and Josh, the owner, is the main reason and inspiration behind my journey to provide better husbandry for my reptiles rather then the bare minimal “it’ll do” standardized mentality that most owners start with due to mainstream industrialized image of how to keep and maintain our reptiles.I recently bought my first new reptile since learning about bioactive setups watching Josh and TheBioDude via YouTube and am so excited to start my first bioactive build which is where the review finally comes into final detail because I’ve recently ordered a enclosure and now my first purchase towards the build specifically from TheBioDude which is the lights and fixtures I need for my bioactive build.First thing I noticed was the amazing price on the products I bought, and after that the information and knowledge about the products and what it’s used for helping make it easier for me to decide exactly what I want and needed to buy.I ended up getting TheBioDudes solargrow fixtures for both my plant lighting needs and uvb needs just bought designated size Arcadia uvb bulb for the second fixture and saved a bunch of money on the fixtures while also getting the same if not better quality product compared to other name brand products, which they also offer comparable name brand products if that’s your fancy as well. So that’s the product and the pricing as examples of how knowledgeable Josh and TheBioDude is as a whole, so what’s left is the customer service.Before placing my order I emailed customer service about a specific BioDude product as well as a few other minor questions about my build, being as it’s my first bioactive build and I’ve come to know and trust the knowledge and information giving from TheBioDude and to my surprise not only did they take the time to answer not only my product question but my other small questions and on top of that informed me of a few other sources for information towards my build, which for a company to not just give you there information but also give and recommend other sources as well is pretty rare and a nice bonus. Now that I had the information I needed I continued to order the fixtures and lights I needed one of which included a very fragile bulb, and TheBioDude being a Texas local company and me being from Arizona I had my order shipped rather then going in store, and the fragile bulb regardless of being packaged very well, arrived damaged and again to my surprise they were extremely fast to response to my email regarding the purchase and handle the situation not just fast but friendly and professional which like most of this reviews points, is just so hard to find in company’s now a days. So again, overall in all aspects I am beyond satisfied with the product, the cost, and the service provided before and after my purchase and am looking forward to purshasing from TheBioDude again for the rest of this build and any other reptile needs I have, definitely going to be a life long customer.Photos show the product I bought and example of the product on display of one of my enclosures.

The Bio Dude has been a total game changer! Despite owning reptiles for over a decade, I've always been worried about my bearded dragon having loose substrate. I discovered Bio Dude and finally felt comfortable to do loose substrate for him and am SO glad I did. I switched him to bioactive and got some other things to improve my corn snake and crested geckos enclosures and everything was packed super well. Plants all alive and healthy, nothing broken,etc. All of my pets have been exploring their new set up but my beardie in particular seems to be more alert and active, inquisitive of his plants and digging burrows. He is 8 and I worried he was slowing down, but he genuinely seems happy.Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

Great video demonstrations of proper setup using the BioDude products. Could piece these things together individually but my kids (13 years and 11), wanted to do this on their own, so buying the pre-packaged kits that are sized for each individual terrarium was perfect. We recently got a new family member from The Bio Dude, and the whole experience was as stress free as shipping a helpless, tiny animal halfway across the country could possibly be. They answered all of my questions quickly, and fully, and were super reassuring when I became panicked over my own misunderstandings about tracking information. She arrived in excellent condition, carefully packed, and looking quite comfy. From the moment I contacted them about her, to the moment I placed her in her new home, less than 36 hours passed. All in all, I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a company that is truly passionate about the animals the way a small company would be, while still providing the efficiency and ease of a much larger franchise with thousands of people at their disposal. I have purchased many different things from the bio dude, His substrates are absolutely amazing. His products are top notch, His one product that I enjoy the very most is his bio shot.A product which you add into the substrate and or your potting mix helps your plans to grow and thrive and when I say thrive, I literally mean THRIVE LIKE NO OTHER!I have a crusted gecko vivarium and the dirt has been bone dry for some time until recently and my plants inside have been growing and thriving somehow with bone dry dirt and the only thing I can think of is the type of substrate that I bought from the bio dude AND THE BIO SHOT THE WINNER!I also have some potted plants that contain the bio shot and those plants alone are thriving and growing faster than any of my other plants. If you're looking for an amazing thriving vivarium whether it be crested, geckos, dart frogs, spiders, etc. The bile dude substrate and the bio shot combined will allow your plans to grow and thrive like there is no tomorrow.Highly recommend the bio dude and his products.Thank you bio dude for doing what you do and the products you have made and come up with!The bile dudes staff is also super helpful, friendly and informative. I have never had a problem when interacting with the bile dude staff. Doing business with the BioDude is like having your own personal consultant, which I sorely needed when seeing up my first bioactive enclosure for my first snake! My myriad of questions were all answered within hours and with very detailed information. I am incredibly grateful for their help! When the mister I ordered from them didn't work, they were able to talk me through a quick and easy fix at home. Before contacting them I had called the manufacturer and their rep advised returning it. Had I bought from Amazon, I would have had to go to the trouble of returning it and waiting for a new one. I've bought from "The Dude" (and Co.) several times over the years. Most recently a Terra Sahara kit for my new leopard gecko. Not only is the quality of product top-notch, but the support from the team is as well. I've seen people throughout the Internet gripe about prices, but honestly, so what? It's really not much more expensive than if you sourced your own material....plus, you are supporting a small business. It's awesome. I'll keep buying stuff from/recommending them.

First off, 10/10 FIVE STAR SERVICE!!I don’t usually leave long reviews, but The Bio Dude really exceeded my expectations.. I was looking to make my cresties enclosure bio active and wasn’t sure where I was going to get everything.. I had heard only GREAT things about them so I figured I’d place an order. I AM SO GRATEFUL THAT I DID. They make it so easy with all their different bio active and plant kits! Everything arrived on time and all of it was in perfect condition. The plants were healthy and beautiful, I was more than happy when I received it. Another reason I love The Bio Dude is their staff. Everyone I spoke to was more than kind and truly care about their customers. I had a few questions, and within an hour I received a phone call from Paul to help me out. I really appreciated that so much! In all honestly, if you are in the market, don’t hesitate… JUST DO IT. You will NOT be disappointed. It is clearly evident in their product and customer service that they really love what they do. It’s always nice to know you’re supporting a small business like this that really cares!! Wow! Customer service is amazing they make sure to help you with whatever questions you have. There is a lot of selection when it comes to woods and logs for your reptile homes!! Way better than a petsmart or petco. It also looks like they take great care of their animals and give them a lovely spacious home.

Awesome place. When dealing with herpetology you have to be careful because 80% of people and pet stores are sketchy, dirty, and don't take proper care of their animals. This is not one of those places!All the animals here were in enclosures that were better than most zoo displays and they looked healthy and happy. Obviously they looked beautiful too!There was an amazing selection of wood, plants, substates, natural decor, and cork. I got some pretty sweet isopods too. I've bought isopods from other stores and they're labeled as having 10 in there but in reality there's only 4. Here I got all 10 full sized adults. There was also a good selection of enclosures that were properly priced.The staff was so nice and helpful too! We buy stuff from here where I work pretty regularly and it's great to know that we're supporting one of the hard to find ethical businesses in the reptile community. Definitely do your business here! :)I also got to see some pretty cute dogs! Lol

Imagine your money being thrown on the floor in the rain? That definitely wasn’t a nice occurrence. I’ve been buying products from Biodude for 3 years now. Josh Halter’s YouTube channel was the first exposure I had to bio active terrariums. They made something that seemed very complicated very simple and easy for beginners. Biodude is a company that knows their stuff, and has excellent customer service. I am always happy ordering from them and if I ever have questions or concerns they always reply promptly and provide educated responses. My ball python is as happy as can be in his Biodude set up.

Updated review: The customer service was very good, they reached out very quickly. They assured me that there was likely a miscount in the culture, which can happen from time to time, and gave me a culture with the correct count. They also offered to let me check any future cultures before purchasing! Very friendly staff and I look forward to purchasing from them again.This is my first time buying an isopod culture from them, which was listed as an armadillidium peraccae 10 ct but upon opening, discovered only 1 full size adult and 5 juveniles, for a total of 6 isopods. I combed through all the sphagnum moss and sifted the substrate, but I didn't find any bodies to make up the missing isopods.The packaging was great, substrate seems good quality with tons of dried sphagnum and crushed leaves, but I've never had an isopod culture contain less than the described number before. With all the online orders I have done from other breeders there is usually an extra isopod added in.Been coming here for years for their cork bark and wide array of plants, and never had a problem, but this recent purchase does make me hesitate to buy their isopod cultures in the future.Super unfortunate to have to give the bio dude anything other than 5 stars, as my friends and I love their selection of products :(

Just went today because I m thinking about maybe getting a Tarantula in the future but have no ideas where to start. The staff helped me so much!!! I shopped online. They were only one of a few places that had the reptile vitamin I used to buy through my local pet store. Their price was also very low compared to some other places. The website said the vites was shipped free but something went wrong when I got to checkout. I called Bio Dude and they said they would send me a special invoice for ordering it as it would take some time for their tech people to diagnose the problem. True to their word I got the invoice within the day and placed my order.I've been giving this reptile vite to my little turtle for a few years now as part of my plan to keep him healthy. Absolutely loved it. Excellent knowledgeable friendly people. Unique items for your lizard friends cages would light fixtures bulbs this kind of stuff. So glad I live so close I will be frequenting them often.
