Such a wonderful experience. There was great coffee and food, and we enjoyed the sights, people-watching, crafts, and crazy good handmade skills. I bought some of them, which cost a little more than usual, but I feel just fine purchasing something homemade in Texas and laying a little more! This day was super fun, with lots of memories made! ❤️Wheelchair accessibility: Not only is the event wheelchair accessible but there are wheelchairs available.

The food in the restaurant was delicious! It has some unique items that were tasty and that gave a down home - home cooked meal feel. The whole compound is controversial as I know they have had many past wrongdoings. But, I feel that the younger generation is revamping that outlook on their community with hopefully, some wisdom and moving forward with more care for each others well being. Everyone is very polite with some truly amazing skills presented. Whoever does their marketing is on point with their modern decor showcasing their “old world” charm. I was very impressed.

This was a neat stop. We saw the Weaving Shop, the Blacksmith Shop, the Coffee Shop, The Gristmill (best Oatmeal Raisin Cookie I've ever had came from here!!), the General Store, the Cheese Shop, and the Buggy Barn. It's a look into how life used to be and there are ways for you to participate also, like taking a looming or weaving class or the Fall Fair that they have Thanksgiving weekend each year. We will return.

We enjoyed a pleasant lunch here. It was so nice to see the new building after their fire. They did a great job rebuilding.Service is always friendly, everyone you come across has a smile for you.We arrived when they opened, so there was no wait. We were seated promptly. Order taken and drinks provided in a proper time frame.I ordered the brisket quesadilla, my friend ordered the chicken fried steak. The food was hot upon arrival. My quesadilla was delicious, I would definitely order it again. And my friend seemed to enjoy the chicken fried steak.Always a friendly place to dine. We will definitely return.

Very beautiful, historic buildings, handmade arts and crafts, handmade furniture and lots to see. Worth the drive, theres also a cheese store and coffee shop. The people were all friendly and welcoming. The weaving shop had lots of variety from supplies to ready to use items.

This was my first time to the Homestead Heritage Café even though I had been to Homestead Heritage several times (it’s a beautiful property). The Café was located in a temporary location while they were working on the original building. It kind of lacked personality but we understood it was temporary … it was clean and our server was very kind. I had the quesadilla burger with sweet potato fries, both were delicious – our server said it’s very popular while my daughter had the Southwest Veggie Sandwich, which was on the hot side (the Jalapeño bread and chipotle ranch made a lot of heat) and fruit. Our meal was $53 including tax – 2 sandwiches and 2 teas.

Tons of things to do here. If you like to live off the land, farm, or live colonial style this place has it all!I love buying the homemade soaps and candles from the general store. They also offer a ton of classes like cooking, baking, woodworking and more!I also love eating at the Homestead Cafe, definitely recommend getting a reservation, it is always packed! The hamburger is one of the best in Waco. The patty is super good and the buns are homemade and amazing.Vegetarian options: Veggie wrap is very good.Dietary restrictions: Great options and accommodating for allergies.Parking: Dirt lots all over the campus.Kid-friendliness: Great and safe environment for kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

What an amazing place to visit, learn and create! We got to make a pinch pot, a spoon and wooden craft. The restaurant was amazing. The food is grown fresh on the property. The shops had so many creative and practical items to choose from. A warm loving atmosphere. Many herbs and herbal health options. A must visit!

Really enjoyed our visit here. Everyone was friendly and the quality of the crafts is outstanding. We also at lunch at the cafe. I had the coffee burger and peach cobbler. Both were very good. The community seeks to promote sustainability and a simpler life and visiting here is a great way to see some positive alternatives.

The place is amazing, peaceful, and the grounds have a beautiful scenery. The food is so delicious and authentic, this is one of our favorite restaurant so far. The food is fresh and prepared there so to me that makes it extra the delicious. The staff is so helpful and so soft spoken, they provide excellent customer service. This is definitely one of the must go check out places when visiting Waco, Texas. It's located off Gholson rd, and there is parking right next to the restaurant. They Also have a general store where you could pick up a few grocery store items, some are homemade. There is a lot this place has to offer, I highly recommend this place.

I went here with my two best friends, we had a BLAST. Loved the entire complex. We went to all the shops. The products are legit, as far as a young adult can tell. They make their own stuff in small batches and are very willing to talk to you about it. Furniture is really great from what I can tell but it will definitely cost you. The food is excellent, especially the cheese. I'm lactose intolerant and ate a metric F ton of their low pasteurized milk, cheese, and ice cream. I'm talking more than I've ever consumed in a day. I should have been totaled at that point, but alas - not one single complication. All their dairy products were fantastic and I'd do it again Some woman in the cheese shop was so nice to me, warms my heart. Omg, there was this one super nice man in the cheese shop who explained literally everything to us: aquaponics, cheese aging, the inn that traveled from New York to Waco...just the nicest guy (Jason). 10/10 STRONGLY recommend

Such a beautiful place to visit and the Fair is the best place to go to every year!! Five ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐ for the food, music and scenery!! I always recommend this place to my friends and family. Vindel and his wife are good friends of ours and we always look forward to seeing them. Regina is one of their many talented singers and I am blessed every time I hear her sing. You can feel the love of Jesus at their musicals for sure!

Omg to the tenth power. What a place very relaxing very nice people. I could've lived like that. Every building that was open had really nice and informative people about their products and the buildings. And the restaurant there is totally awesome too. Our waiter Joel I believe was his name is one of the nicest young men at any restaurant we have ever been to ever. Good job Joel. I love the old buildings that were rescued from other states. There is history , so much history come and learn some , learn a craft learn about the culture. Great job to all the fine folks at homestead heritage

I’m so disappoint in my experience here. The website looked so promising and I had read somewhere that it can take you about 4 hours to experience everything. My sister and I decided to go for the day and we were honestly done with everything in under 2 hours. We thought we would be able to observe the cheese making process. All we saw was a plaque explaining a bit about the process and we could see through a glass window the big machinery where the cheese is fermented. That’s it. Same with pottery. We were under the impression we were going to be able to observe people making pottery but nope, just a big room with mugs for sale and we were told we could come back later for a pottery class for $100. Basket weaving was a room with baskets for sale, nobody was weaving anything. We were however, able to observe a woman spinning wool into a dish towel. The general store had some yummy homemade bread but the gift shop, although interesting to look around at everything, was really pricey in my opinion so I didn’t buy anything. I will say the cafe exceeded my expectations. It was rustically decorated, very beautiful and the burger I ordered was tasty. We were going to try the ice cream at the waffle restaurant for dessert but we learned they would be closed until 7pm. The people who work/live here were not rude but definitely not overly friendly or helpful. This place has a lot of potential and could really benefit from some PR help to make it great. I just wanted to leave this real review in case anybody else was planning on spending the whole day here and would like a heads up.

Such an amazing place as soon as you enter you get a sense of calmness just walking around and enjoying the views. The cafe hits you in the face as soon as you walk in with such amazing flavor smells . Looking at everyone eating the amazing food there sorry I didn't not take photos of the food but trust you have to try it. I will be going back they have an event coming labor day took a pic of the flyer.

We had zero knowledge of this place before seeing it in an Airbnb things-to-do in the area. This place was as interesting as the Magnolia complex. It is a Christian community. For public consumption, they have a lot to offer in terms of practical, traditional crafts and homesteading. We spent at least 3-4 hours checking out their craft village (woodcrafts, pottery, blacksmithing, quilting, fiber crafts, basket weaving, a grist mill, cheese, etc). The craftsmanship is high quality. They have an extensive offering of classes and workshops. There is also a market, coffee shop, homesteading supplies shop, and a farm-to-table restaurant. Reservations recommended. The atmosphere was casual but the food was upscale. A little more pricey, but quality, presentation, and taste were excellent. There is also a local artist whose oil paintings of western landscapes adorn the dining rooms. They were wonderful and priced from $400-5000. If you are coming to Silos, do yourself a favor and save a day for this place. It's fabulous. Oh and a bed and breakfast opens in May. It's charming.

I’ve been going to Homestead ever since my mom passed away in 2011. They have always been very kind to me. I have taken several classes there and I continue to do so because it’s a great way to relax and just enjoy learning a new craft and being with such wonderful people.Parking: Lots of parking. During their fair you may have to park way out but they have golf carts that will come by and pick you up and drop you off at the fair. So don’t worry if you can’t park close just hang out by your car and someone will be by to get you.Kid-friendliness: The people here have been so sweet to my grandson. They know him by name and he’s been coming since he was born. He is now 12 years old.

We accidentally stumbled upon the Homestead Heritage today while in Waco. What a pleasant surprise! We enjoyed walking around the campus and exploring each of the shops and what they had to offer...pottery, basket weaving, blacksmith, pottery, and so many more. I wish we were in town longer so we could take one of their furniture making classes. I love that they teach others about their skills.

Love coming here even though its almost 2 hours away. Great community full of good people here. Some of the nicest people me and my wife have ever met. And most of all the things they create that can add so much value to your daily lives is beyond amazing and inspiring. Very rare and unique what they have going here. Their children are really lucky to grow up in such a community. Good times here 😀

I truly enjoyed going to the heritage craft village near Waco. The people I met are amazingly kind and sweet. I first met Sue on my way to the weaving shop and she was so kind to explain everything about the shop to me. I bought wonderful organic cotton for a first weaving project on my new to me loom. Afterwards I wandered around the beautiful grounds. I saw the forge, wood shop, gristmill and more. There is a true sense of community here and plan on going back for workshops. The village is open Monday through Saturday 10-6 and it’s an easy drive from DFW. I found out about the craft village when I stopped in at the tourist information center in Waco. They had a flyer and the ladies at the info center helped me with directions. For those interested in going for the day; there is a cafe on site and I saw lots of people who seemed happy with their lunch as they were leaving.

A beautiful and wonderful place to visit and bring the family. It is like you are being transported back in time and it truly is a relaxing and peaceful place to be. The handmade items and crafts will be addictive so remember to bring money to pick a few things for your self and family. The blackberry creamed honey is amazing and the hand spun yarn is extravagant and beautiful. I can't wait to go back and get some bath salts to try as well.

The people of this community are very friendly and hospitable. Furthermore, they pursue excellence and high quality in everything they do and make. They even teach courses there if you desire to learn some craftsman skill (weaving, blacksmithing, wood working, . . . ) The photos I'm attaching include one of a wooden canoe they've built for a customer. The operating grist mill there was originally built in 1760 by an associate of George Washington. It was later purchased and moved to this location. Interesting place. Great food in the cafe!
