About 6 years ago Fuzzy Friends took in a homeless dog in our city when our local shelter would not and found him a forever home. I was so very grateful! I was asked by them to write about his story which was posted on their website. In December, I submitted an adoption application for a puppy. About two weeks later I received a phone call asking if I currently have a dog. My answer was yes, I had to put down (due to cancer) her companion. She is very lonely now. I was asked by Fuzzy Friends that "am I aware that this is a puppy"? I am 62 years old, my husband is retired. We live on 40 acres, I walk my dog constantly, on a leash, never do I let her off the leash.(hawks and coyotes). I explained that to her. Now over a month later, I have heard NOTHING. I feel like I was denied because of my age and due to the fact I don't live in Waco. I would welcome the chance for them to visit my home, call my vet and I can provide references. The dog I tried to adopt is still available for adoption and has been at the shelter since October 2023! But yet they "boast" about all the animals that found homes! But don't have the decency to contact you when you are obviously denied. Exactly what is their criteria? Maybe they should post that before you get your hopes up!I have lost all respect for Fuzzy Friends Rescue.

The adoption fees are outrageous. I was so excited to adopt until I saw the price. I can see maybe 100/150 for adoption but $400+ is more than a car payment. I hope these animals find good homes, not hopeful with the reviews I've read so far.

Impossible to adopt here. They claim they want to save these dogs lives but don't approve ANYONE. They are super nice when you come in, and play it off like, "wow you will be a great fit" just to deny you. Then they give you ZERO reason for denial.Absolute joke of a "rescue" they run here.

One of, if not the best, rescues in Texas. I have gotten 2 dogs from them, Athena and River and they both are amazing dogs and in great health. Unlike some animal shelthers where people don't really care about their jobs, all of their staff is amazing people and truly love their animals!

So slow on checking for approval with the applications. Told us we had a 5 day waiting process and on the fifth day it’s still in a huge stack of unreviewed applications. The dog we wanted was already adopted before they got to ours because someone was before us in the supposed “stack of applications”. It shouldn’t take 5 days to review applications and they need to be more orderly and neat so they don’t make the mistake of having someone fill out an application for a dog that already has one. Every applicant should be reviewed before immediately adopting it out. I feel in love with this dog and was devastated to find out she was already given away due to poor management of applications. Don’t come here if you’re looking to find an animal in a timely manner or if you want honesty about applications on their animals.

Poor customer service, I applied to adopted 2 cats almost a week ago. Got an accident call 3 days later when they tried to call my vet office. Then received a call 3 days after that and was informed I was denied which I could understand. But when I was told “mhm disappointing isn’t it?” In the most condescending rude tone possible. I was shocked by the staff completely rude and unprofessional behavior. Definitely don’t recommend applying for their animals.

This is a great shelter with a lot of heart. The dedication of the staff is obvious and we found everything to be very well organized when we adopted our sweet girls Emme and Zoey recently. The adoption fees are very reasonable and we gladly went through the application process which took less than two days in our case. As much as we would have loved to bring our new fur babies home right away, we do welcome the thoroughness in making sure the pets receive adequate homes. The entire process was a very positive experience and we highly recommend Fuzzy Friends Rescue!

Got our little rescue girl from here on the 25th of last month. Staff was friendly and cooperative. Health and safety precautions taken. Even gave us masks and checked temps before entering. Safe space for four-legged friends and bi-peds alike.

Wasted almost two weeks of my time waiting to find out if I could adopt a dog only to find out the dog was foster to adoption only which apparently means you have to live in the area. They seriously couldn't put that on they page or tell me that in the beginning? Then on top of that they kept saying they never received any proof of dog vaccinations even though I was on the phone with one of them went I emailed them and she even said they received them.

Seems like they take good care of the animals, and my family was really excited to adopt a dog from here but we were really disappointed with our experience here. We fell in love with a dog there and were so excited to apply for her. She did great with our daughter and it felt like a great fit. They said no one else had applied for her yet and that it would take 2-3 business days to get a response on our application. After about a week we called them when we still hadn’t heard back. They said they probably just needed a couple more days to review the application but that they would call us to update us. We called twice and were told the same thing each time. We found out through their Instagram page the next week that that dog had been adopted by someone else. No one bothered to call us to let us know.Just FYI if you get a dog from the humane society, they come with updated vaccines and if they’re not already spayed/neutered they will pay for it to be done.

They were incredibly rude and unkind to my parents who fell in love with a dog at their facility. They refused to adopt to them for reasons they couldn't be bother to explain. They were even willing to pay the RIDICULOUS $800 adoption fee and still weren't approved even though they adopted another dog from them 10 years prior with the same living arrangements.Go to the humane society and avoid this vanity project.

Fuzzy Friends Staff and Volunteers (S&V) are excellent. Everyone was friendly and had a smile on their faces. While choosing our sweet baby, the S&V was knowledgeable about each cat. I had a horrible experience…. When my family walked in… no one was around we have never been to a adoption place and honestly don’t know that I will ever try any place like this again… a blond woman was clearly to busy to give any help to my family… I was an inconvenience to her… I would think that an adoption place would want to have their animals find a loving home but not this place. I hope these animals are being cared for.

Wonderful place! Personal are terrific! Private rooms to get to know the dogs on a personal level. Just wish you could adopt puppies younger than 4 months. You can tell that these animals are well cared for and loved.

So we had a total of 3 dogs including the 2 dogs that we adopted from fuzzy friends and was looking to adopt another after our 3rd dog dog died (he was over 15 years old). Due to large vet bills of trying to save my dog's life & the 2 surgeries for the other dog due to knee problems, the vaccinations were a couple of months behind but we made an appointment to get the vaccinations done but the appointment was 2 weeks away. We put in an app for a new puppy and was verbally threatened by a staff member that they were going to take our dogs away and also sent this email to me, threatening to take my dogs away. I was looking forward to bringing my dogs in to show them how great they're doing for the meet and greet. Now we're terrified that they will try to take my dogs even though they will have their vaccinations up-to-date by that time which is 2 days from now. We will not be back & will adopt elsewhere. They never inquired about whether or not there was an appointment scheduled but decided to attack & threaten us verbally and through email. For what I was going to spend on just 1 dog there, I can save a total of 4 dogs at the humane society! They are overpriced to say the least & their dogs are incredibly skinny...skin & bones! I have added the email that was sent to me by them. This is unacceptable, unprofessional and incredibly insulting that rather than do their due diligence and ask a couple of simple questions, they would've seen that we had everything ready to go for their vaccinations and heartworm tests! This could've and should've been handled better but instead they went on the attack and threats without any evidence. I would strongly not recommend this place to anyone ever.

Few weeks ago, I filled out an application for a senior cat. I checked the reviews after that and people got rejected because you need to show proof of vet records of past cats that you have encountered. Problem about that for me was that I didnt own cats before, but taken care of cats when the friends or family were on vacation. I cant supply that information since they werent mine. The cat was approved to someone else. Im happy he got adopted, all pets deserve a loving home. I got an emailed informing about his adoption and replied if there is an approval for me to get another cat or the status of application. Its been two weeks and no response back. How is the facility supposed to find loving homes for pets if there is lack of response. Fortunately, had to go to another city 1 hr away and adopted two senior cats. Staff needs to do better to communicate.Edit over a year later: No reply back.

Update:After speaking with the founder of the rescue, I understand more now about what happened. She agreed that the way in which things were handled would leave me feeling this way, and was very kind and apologetic. Hopefully this will help dealings with others in the future so that no one else goes through this! Communication and transparency are important and she seemed committed to ensure the staff there understands that as well.Very disappointed with this place. I contacted them about a certain puppy, and was promised, in writing, that when this pup was ready I could adopt her. I even spent almost 2 hours there visiting her with my current dog, my mom, and her dog. Everything was great, then when we left started getting phone calls about all these physical problems (none of which were exhibited while we were there) and that they didn't know when/if this pup would be available. None of these "problems" were mentioned while we were there? What was the change?? I've no doubt they decided to promise the dog to someone else and were trying to get me to back out. When I didn't, they never contacted me again as they promised they would. Don't deal with this place if you want honesty and fair treatment! You won't get it here.

We were selected to adopt out Toby and drove 100 miles to pick him up. Callie met us and was very professional and helpful. It was love at 1st site when we saw Toby in person. They give you time to get to know the dog you want and let us bring our other dog to see how they got along. If I were to adopt again, I would choose Fuzzy Friends Rescue. Thank you for helping us get our little love.

Save your time and money! I’ve never felt so judged for trying to adopt a dog. Besides the four page application which made me feel like I was applying for a job I wouldn’t get, and the ridiculous fees, I was promised multiple times by different employees that I would receive communication on whether or NOT we would be able to adopt the dog which NEVER happened. My kids and I walked in with the excitement of bringing home a new dog and after we met one that might make a good match, we left empty handed and my kids were disheartened, as was I. I ended up adopting the best dog at the Waco Humane Society: no application, no judgement, no background checks and absolutely 100% free! I was extremely disappointed with Fuzzy Friends Rescue.
