Customer service is everything, and the employees at True Value in Van Alstyne are prime examples of great customer service.When buying a new mega fan for the Fit Point Community Fit Camps, we weren't sure what size to get. The ladies working not only allowed us to plug in the different fans, but also wheeled them into the store (they are HUGE) for us!We ended up going with mid-sized fan for better portability.Shop local and support small businesses like this one over the big box stores!

You'd be surprised what this small-looking store has! They carry a little bit of everything, from power tools to propane to supplies for your septic system. Further, all of the staff here are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, not to mention super nice. Prices are very competitive with your big hardware stores, so I hope you'll choose to bring your business here.Great place, and very happy to have them here in Van Alstyne.

No matter the bind we've been in, between visits to Home Depot and Lowe's, Van Alstyne Hardware has what we've needed. Their friendly staff knows every inch of their store, their prices are sometimes less, and besides lumber they've got just about everything you'll need. It is nice having a neighborhood hardware again in Van Alstyne. Clean, organized and well stocked with comparable prices. Well staffed and very friendly. Update 9/28/20The store has a knife/scissor combo that the scissors actually work (TRUE brand designed in Fort Worth)0. It doesn't have a sheath but does have a belt clip which I use to clip to jeans front pocket.

I have had literally the worst experience with the owners of this store. The women running the counter are unbelievably rude and abrasive. I thought it would be convenient to have a local hardware store in town, but I have to avoid this place to not ruin my day. I’ve been screamed at, told to go to Home Depot by the ladies who run this store, simply for asking questions. There is zero effort to keep people coming back. They’re not good neighbors to the community as they go out of their way to disallow any parking on their lot during civic events even while closed. I’m never returning. It feels like the place is run by angry cop wives, and I know a little about that.

The lady working today was extremely rude.we tried to return an item and she was slamming stuff down. Had a terrible attitude. We are only in town a few weeks and have been there ten times already. So sad to be treated that way. She lost them my business for sure. I'll go elsewhere now for the remainder of my stay.

Great family that runs this place. Gerald (I think is his name) is always friendly and helpful. Makes me want to spend my money with these guys. I appreciate kindness in people.Update: New owners now. But it's still a place with a lot of stock on the shelves. I usually find what I need.

I absolutely love how helpful the staff is here! They always offer to carry heavy things to my vehicle for me, generally open the door before I can, and as soon as I walk in ask if I need any help at all. Everyone here is super friendly and knowledgeable. This is a much needed store in Van Alstyne and everyone should definitely go to them for things that they need. I love that I no longer have to go to Sherman or McKinney to buy dog food from tractor supply. Thank y’all for opening this shop! Also special shout-out for the beautiful lights adorned on this building.

On this visit, the person helping us was very crabby, snapped at my companion to put plumbing fittings back 8n ben they came out of...I do not know that they were misplaced...but uncalled for attitude.This week same person was extremely helpful and carried bag of rocks to car, and was very nice.

I had a great experience in this store yesterday. I was looking for kerosene before the cold snap. They were out of stock (like everybody else). However, unlike everybody else they were willing to make a run to the warehouse and restock that same night. They took my name and number and called me later that night, stayed open late so that me and others could get what we needed before the bad weather hit. Really appreciate that kind of customer service.

Finally got to stop in here today with my wife and was pleasantly surprised at all the supplies they have here. They have stuff for grilling, fishing, plumbing, welding, gardening, pools and other projects. They sell fasteners by the box or the piece, which is always nice if you only need a few to finish a project. Their prices on some items are a little more expensive than you'd expect but that's to be expected. On this day they had people selling fresh local grown vegetables and tamales out front. All in all I would definitely come back for supplies when needed.

My son just moved to Van Alstyne, TX and need a couple of washers and bolts to fix the seat on his mower...I'm a veteran and the gave me the items at no charge. Thus will be my son's GO TO place. Convenient, friendly and well stocked store. All A+s in my book.

Its great to once again have a parts store in the middle between Sherman and McKinney! A great family owned local store where they work daily and are the absolute nicest people! Because of hoenfrrindly and hospitable they are, I really don't mind paying a little more!
