Rarely do I give a 5 star review because in reality is anything actually perfect? Well The Potpourri House is. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a chicken fried steak that the menu claimed was the best in East Texas, it was correct. The green beans reminded me of my Meemaws and the sweet tea was fantastic. My wife had chicken almond crepes (I think) that she loved and ate so quickly I wasn't able to get a picture. The server was great and very attentive. The atmosphere was surprisingly nice for a restaurant stuck in the middle of a boutique store. We will be back for sure, there was a salmon meal that I want to try!

My husband took me here for a surprise 'date lunch' and it couldn't have been more perfect. From their homemade spiced tea to their plethora of meal choices, to their attentive team led by an amazing chef/owner (we got to meet him - such a kind person!), we had a fabulous time - and a delicious lunch. The adjoining gift shop was full of items from local vendors and was such a lovely area to browse afterwards. Kudos to over 40 years of making such memories!!! We cannot wait to go back!

UPDATE FROM MY 1ST REVIEW OF POTPOURRI HOUSE FROM 5 YEARS AGO... We were so excited to come back to Tyler for a visit and find that The Potpourri House was open. It had been updated and made more trendy, and although we missed the pretty water fountain inside the eating area (the sound of the fountain ⛲️ was calming) we liked the new updates.I had the portobello mushroom soup, Strawberry salad and chicken salad sandwich trio which was absolutely 😋! The soup had lots of mushrooms and had a great flavor. My daughter had the French dip sandwich and fries. The sandwich was piled high with tender meat and served with au joux to dip it in. We had the spiced tea again and although it seemed a little sweeter than last time, I simply asked our nice waitress to put a bit of regular unsweetened tea in with the spiced tea and it was perfect. After lunch, we of course went to walk around the beautiful shop. The ladies were very friendly and it was fun seeing all the colorful earrings, dresses, etc. This is one of our favorite places in Tyler.1st REVIEW FROM 5 YEARS AGO... The spiced tea was absolutely delicious and the staff was friendly. The store was adorable with a plethora of wonderful gift items.Kid-friendliness: There is a kids menu along with plenty of appetizers, sides or smaller size dishes that would suite for kids of all ages.

Really nice salad/soup/potato bar. Nice selection of food. Had regular green salad. I wish they had romaine lettuce. But had chicken salad, pimento salad, cornbread salad, potato salad, fruit salad, and other salads. 2 soups. Baked potatoes with toppings. Banana pudding for your sweet tooth. You go through a boutique to get to the restaurant. My husband thought oh no at first but was 100% comfortable once in restaurant. He said not a tea room environment. We both enjoyed.

Service was great. I liked the food, although I only had the soup and salad bar. The soup was great. My only issue was the salad bar had very limited toppings for salad. There was plenty of other types of salads though.Parking: There are a limited number of spaces and they are tight for large vehicles.

Ordered Thanksgiving meal for $139 (COOKED Turkey breast, dressing, gravy, and cranberry sauce). Came with heating instructions of 35 minutes in oven. Thanksgiving day was cooking an uncooked turkey for 5 hours!!! I contacted the Potpourri House and spoke with Les Ellsworth to see if we were mistaken and ordered the wrong meal, given the wrong meal, etc…was told and I kid you not that we received a fully cooked turkey that should have taken 35 minutes, perhaps a little longer. I was a bit irritated that they were not apologetic that mistakes happen and clearly didn’t care to read my email that it took 5 hours for the uncooked turkey to be done, implying I was an idiot! Like if I put a cooked turkey in the oven for 5 hours there would be no turkey left!!! I didn’t ask for a refund, just wanted to know if we had ordered the wrong thing or given the wrong thing. Company couldn’t even admit a wrong doing. Very sad. Will not do business or spend that kind of money for Turkey and dressing. Waste of a day for sure.

We were very disappointed in our visit, we traveled pretty far to have a nice girls birthday lunch for our granddaughter. She was excited to get the extra special brownie dessert which a neighboring table got and it looked so fancy to her with carmel drizzle and whip ect just like the photo in their menu but when we got our it was literally 2 squares of brownie on a plate that's it no dress up at all for the price I would expect to atleast get some drizzle or something like advertised. Unfortunately our service wasn't much better we never received refills or were even asked if we needed anything after our initial order.

Really want to like this place, as it's a very novel idea to combine a boutique, dessert offering section and restaurant all in one.Loved the Strawberry Salad, which was such a wonderful surprise with the assorted almond slivers, baby spinach and strawberry vinaigrette. Definitely a star offering.Herb Chicken was wonderfully flavored, tender and juicy; mashed potatos excellent with balanced herb seasoning. Issue was when I asked about the green beans and they said they put in pork bacon, I asked for a different side: checking online now, I see other available sides (for the same price, no less) were chips, french fries, sweet potato fries, chips, mashed potatos, mixed vegetables, broccoli florets...and yet I was told "no substitution" would be made when I told them I get sick from pork and needed something different? I asked 3 different people: the first server said "well, we wouldn't want you to get sick," but the girl that was told to find out never did. I asked her again and asked a different girl--so in total, 3 people--then I finally got the above reply. You know what? An even swap of sides loses the place nothing and caring about the patron's health/goodwill is always a very smart idea. However, to categorically say "there will be no substitutions" (for health reasons/allergies) is definitely saying "we could care less." Uh....no.This is probably a good place to go if you have no food allergies or ones that wouldn't be an issue here. The attitude distresses me most, and mostly on that account I would say avoid the place, since it is unwilling to be reasonable with something that actually requires no effort (which disturbs me even more).

Over the years my husband and I have been to Potpourri House several times, and it has always been enjoyable. The food is consistently good, the waiters are pleasant, and the prices are reasonable. We plan to return.

The salad bar alone is worth the trip- fresh produce and delicious cucumber salad, pasta salad, corn salad, even baked potatoes!! But they also had sandwiches made on incredibly fluffy breads we tried the majestic and it was perfection between slices.4 stars for atmosphere because despite all the beautiful colors and fabrics in the gift shop part, it just didn't seem to align with the cafe - the food items were incredible, delicious, fairly priced. The shop items had beautiful colors and fabrics but overall they were.... horribly tacky and dated.Ruffled dresses and blouses, giant plastic jewelry, all overpriced but maybe you can find something that your super conservative great aunt Beth thinks is really hip. Just no.But I'll definitely be back for lunch again!!!

My first time here and I absolutely love the energy and the grand set up of everything. My favorite was the boutique when you enter..I wanted to load everything up in my truck. The staff was especially nice. It was recommended to try the salad, soup and potato bar. I loved the pimento cheese and tuna salad but wasn't a fan of the other salads. I do plan to go back to try something from the menu.

We just love to go to the Potpourri House. The soups and chicken salad are my favorite but I haven't had anything I didn't like there. It's a great place for parties, we've had multiple family birthdays there and are planning my daughter's wedding! The prices and service are amazingly good.

The food here was absolutely wonderful. Quality ingredients carefully presented in a carefully thoughtful way. It was refreshing to see a restaurant take the time to do it right from scratch. Best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Our server Nathan was diligent and polite. Thanks Potpourri House, keep up the good work

The chicken fried steak is made with wagyu beef & was the best I’ve ever had… we ended up ordering a 2nd one for the table so everyone in our party could try a bite of it! The soup, salad & potato bar is great for a quick lunch, as well! Owner/chef is really friendly, comes out to check on everyone & make recommendations of what to try. Great spot, it’s a local favorite for a reason!

We had The Potpourri House cater our wedding at Stone Oak Ranch in Murchison, TX. They were class acts. They went above and beyond during our tasting, accommodated some food allergies fantastically, and were awesome the night of the wedding. The food was delicious and everyone loved it! I would totally recommend them not only as a great restaurant to visit, but also as a great caterer for any event!

I had lunch here recently and was very impressed. Our Server, Bella, was extremely friendly and offered great selections. She gave us great customer service. We all tried something different and all were great choices. The desserts were amazing. My two Aunts could not stop talking about Bella. They had come to visit from Houston so I felt really proud to share this place with them.

This was my first time to visit. The staff who work the pandora department was nice and welcoming, the hostess was warm and inviting, the clothing staff on the other hand were rude.I was taking my time browsing the different lines of clothing. I knew may were had made and stitched very elegant. I didn't mind the prices because you don't see boutiques like this often.Everytime I would go from rack to rack someone was there asking me if I'd like a dressing room or are you ready to check out? I can see asking me about a dressing room but the checking out part....I had nothing in my hands.I could buy each entire line of clothing at this shop with the snap of my fingertips but when you are accosted like I was, you never go back. I just moved to Tyler and have been to many nice places and I never have been treated so poorly and disrespectful. To the woman by pandora and to the gracious hostess I say thank you. To the employee's over clothing.... you need to get a life, take a step back, and learn how to treat others. You never know who may walk in the store.

Potpourri House catered our wedding and did an incredible job. At the tasting, they helped my consider things like which dishes would travel to our reception site best. We chose full plated service so none of our guests had to stand in line and it went wonderfully. They also cut and served our cake. The food was incredible and they were so on top of serving our guests. I was so glad we chose them.
