Love this place. Everyone was so nice. I walked in was live at first sight with my kitten. I love that they socialize the animal's. It took no time at all to introduce my baby to her new siblings. I highly recommend getting your for ever pet here😻

I would not go to this place. I looked online and seen a puppy I was interested in. So I completed the application. I got a phone call the day after. They told me to send pictures of my fence. I didn't receive any conformation confirming the pictures of the fence. So I called them the next day(Saturday) . I was told they would have to review it and will call me back on Monday at 10 o'clock. Today is Saturday, yes a full week without communication from them. They did not call me back. They never reached out. I Called them today. I was told to they'll call me back in 5 minutes. I finally get a call back. Just for them to tell me I couldn't adopt a pet because of a dent in the fence(on a corner near a gate). Which literally took them less than 5 minutes to review. They could have called me on Monday to tell me the bad news. I explained to her that the first few months, I will be Potty training them with a leash. But apparently that's not good enough. She explained that the dog could jump on it and run off. Now thinking about it, a dog will always find a way out! Even if the fence was 110% secure. I've had dogs before, if you know you know! The older guy may need to retire, cause he seems to have a hard time understanding whats going on. The lady who looked at the photos was condescending. It's a shame that it's so hard to get a pet. Especially since people say adopt don't shop. These poor dogs are still ready to be adopted. Sadly do to humans and their ridiculous judgments and poor communication skills, has cause them not to be adopted. I wish I can show the picture of the fence to paint a better picture and the show how ridiculous her reasoning was. But I've seen reviews as well and realize it's probably safe to go elsewhere.Update April 25, 2024:I went to another pet adoption place on the 22th of April and have adopted a puppy terrier mix. The adoption took about an hour. They didn't care about the fence! Nor does the puppy go over there! My review still stands.CONSAdoption process timeCondescending EmployeesNo communication skillsPoor judgmentProsThe PetsOne out of 5 stars 🌟

Went here to adopt Freddy after seeing him on the local news. Very wonderful, friendly people work here and the place is nice and clean and welcoming. I'm so happy to be taking Freddy home soon to meet my kitty cat, Simon. I think they'll be really good buddies!Brought Freddy home to meet Simon and there was some hissing at first...but since then, everything is going purrfectly (haha)! They even both sleep belly up!

Was so disappointed in this place. Saw a puppy on website. Did an application waiting almost two weeks. Dog still there. Called and was told they had to find my application. Would call me back. Waited another hour called them back. Was told they needed a picture of my fenced in yard. No problem. Sent the a picture of it. Also asked about my 4 year old and my 16 month old. They have been around dogs before. Asked about the puppy and was told that puppy was supposed to be picked up on Friday. So we was there bright and early in Sat to look at some of the other litter. Puppy we wanted was still there so we asked to visit with that puppy. When we got to pen to play that puppy wanted adult attention and the lady(Mary) said they wanted to see how they interacted with the kids. The 4year old has autism and when I mentioned that it was an immediate change in attitude and then was told that there was other applications on that dog and they pick the best one for the dog. I feel like because my child was a special need child we got shunned and turn down. So very disappointed in this place. No harm would have come to that puppy. It would have been loved like one of my children

I have the "best dog ever", Sophie (AKA Sweet Pea). I adopted her from Pets Fur People. We are in our 13th year together. She is 15 years old - we are growing old together. I love what Pets Fur People does for the animals in East Texas. I support their mission.

Well, this is my experience I filled out the pre-adoption paperwork called to go in to see and look at puppies. When I got there the older gentleman upfront ask him to confirm my address I did. He asked me if I had a fence and never even looked me in the eye when I said no, he only said we do not have a dog here for you so when I ask why not he said you have to have a fence I said well I have adopted here before without a fence I’m looking for a small inside dog I’m on an acre and a half property. He simply answered a call coming in and completely ignored me so I walked out after telling them that they go on TV on the news and ask people to adopt when we were so willing to do so, I will look elsewhere.

I got my baby from here! Best shelter I have ever been in! Super welcoming, and reassuring. We made an appointment to go see her and was able to adopt her the same day after the meet and greet. She is an absolute joy for our little family. Our little (big) puppy Phoebe Ruffay has definitely changed our lives for the better, and she is now best friends with her big sister!

I visited this shelter with the hopes that I would give a dog his forever home but was greatly disappointed, staff continuously put excuses after excuse that were completely unreasonable. For example, they said I wouldn’t be able to take the dog I anticipated getting, for a walk. I’m not sure what their intention is but i guess they prefer to have the poor animals living in cages rather than let someone adopt them. Please beware!

Our family adopted Noel (previously called Wendy) on Feb 23, 2021. My husband drove 2 and a half hours from Aubrey to Tyler, but still didnt get there at their working hours. However, we talked to the staff on the phone on the way there, and he patiently waited for us even though we were super late (because of traffic). We're so thankful for how kind he was. We appreciate that the shelter treat all the fur babies kindly and we also got some gifts (treats, dog food, clothes, and a collar) from them to bring home with the pup.Below is our baby. She used to be called Wendy at the shelter, but we renamed her Noel. She was 4 months old when we adopted her. The first photo is when she was at the shelter, the second is when she arrived to her forever home, and the last 2 photos are her now, being a spoiled kid living the best of her life.Thank you Pets Fur People for giving all the fur babies a place to stay while they're waiting for their forever home. Thank you for being flexible and waiting for us so we could meet our baby Noel.

Called the place man answers very rudely like he’s not even trying to get rid of any of the pets. Filled out application pick a pet I want then send him pics of fenced in property that isn’t big enough in In height so then I offered to go buy a larger fence and he says he will not give me a pet due to how close I am to the road I don’t understand how they get to justify whether or not I can go buy a larger fence in order to get the pets!! one star would not recommend to anybody adopting from this location horrible service. Oh and make sure your fence is tall enough before you show them photos!!! And was already so prepared for this pet and yet still refused me. In my eyes just an old dude not in a great mood and not tryna do any work

Terry, Mamie and the staff spent ample time with us to answer all of our questions and concerns. We drove about an hour and a half (Frisco to Tyler) to arrive at their shelter but was worth the trip. They have many dogs to choose from and we found ours after looking locally for many months. I enjoyed the good nature of the folks there that I still give them updates on our pup. They are kind and supportive.

I came here to adopt a specific pooch, a beautiful 2 year old Shepsky named Kai. He was super shy, but a well behaved boy. The folks at Pets Fur People were greatly invested and concerned for Kai's well-being, thoroughly asking targeted questions relevant to his best interest, all while being immensely respectful while doing so. Once I made clear the situation at my home, and my intent with Kai, the staff here had the highest hopes that he would do well with me and my Roxy girl (9 month old Husky). Roxy and Kai are already looking to be the best of friends, and the staff involved with Kai were delighted to hear the news.Other things of note, they were extremely helpful with anything I may have needed, and they give you some solid advice and supplies to get you started with your new pet (Collar, leash, treats, blanket, food, and all their paperwork). I am very highly satisfied with my experience here, and definitely recommend adopting from these fine folks at Pets Fur People. They really care, and it shows.

This place is fabulous! The adoption process is very easy and all the staff are so nice and helpful. We gave Ruby her forever home after living her whole life in the shelter. She is the best fur baby ever and living her life to the fullest.

One star under protest! My mother wanted to adopt a dog. She is home all day so the animal would not ever be alone. They also have a fence. But according to them the fence holes are to big. What a joke! She has adopted two other dogs from them who die of old age after having them for 10- 15 years. Who would deny a dog of a great loving home with a large house and 3 acres of property due to the fence holes. Thank u very much for breaking my mother's heart. U r forcing family's to go to dog breeders instead of saving animals that need a loving home. So instead of letting my mother love the dog u choose to leave him in the cage.

I had the most pleasant time adopting at this shelter, more-so than others. I am from Dallas and made the two hour drive, and let me tell you IT WAS WORTH IT. You felt it as soon as you stepped in that these people care deeply about thier animals, they were 100% transparent and I felt like I knee the dog I was adopting very well. I love with the experience and the dog! Can't wait to spoil him, like he deserves!

These people are angels. We adopted our sweet "Monkey" from them last Saturday and she's been such a blessing to our family. Terry, Linda, and especially the lady (I cant remember her name) that brought Monkey out to us and sat with us is amazing! She answered all our questions and you can tell they REALLY love and care for all the animals. If you're looking to adopt or donate, please keep them in mind.

About a month ago I filled out an application to adopt a dog from them. My husband's service dog had just passed away. It said online to give them a call to verify they received your application. So, I called and the man I spoke with said that the dog I was interested in was not available. Also, he did not know what a service dog is. We were looking for a puppy to start training.Well that dog is still on their site for adoption. Needless to say, I am very disappointed that this is the way things are run there.I am happy to hear that other people have good feedback, but I feel that more animals could be adopted if this did not happen. The reply I received from them says they do not have service dogs. Well that certainly shows they DO NOT understand what a service dog is. (Maybe they ought to do some research.) You would think that they would know that they have to go through intense training to be a service dog. I even told Terry where he would be going for training. These people really need to have more informed and courteous people working there. If I could of given it a 0 star rating I would have.

So a couple months ago I decided to go and look at a new kitten with no intentions of taking one home that day, BUT that was surely not the case in the end. I became attached to a little black and white kitten named Ziti and took him home. It has been roughly about 4 months since I adopted him and he is literally my everything. I named him Sylvester and his personality fits perfectly! I have never had a cat that is just as attached to me as I am to them. This cat is literally the love of my life!

I just wanted to say Thank Y’all for the services you provide and for the stellar experience we had MANY years ago. When we arrived at this facility we were met with nothing but pleasant, friendly staff that allowed us to go kennel to kennel to view their dogs. We knew instantly when we spotted Molly that she was “The One”. We were allowed to play with her (fetch to be exact) and was given all the time needed to make sure she was the right fit. The best fit. And she was… perfection. This was in 2011… Molly was already 4 years old at this time. This facility pointed us to a local vet where we immediately went after adoption (we were then new to ETEX) and everything went just as smoothly as the adoption process.Molly crossed the Rainbow Bridge tonight 3-8-23 at peace and with a long life filled with much love with a huge family who adored her.She is already terribly missed, but we know she’s in a better place running freely after that tennis ball she so loved.Molly would have turned 16 next month. I like to think we gave her a good 13 year run here.We would never have experienced this without the help of this organization. Keep up the good work.So again, Thank Y’all. We 100% recommend.

I filled out an application to meet a fur baby I called and checked on the status then I spoke to a man over the phone he told me they don’t adopt to people who stay in apartments. But I don’t see anything on their website saying this. It just ask on an application if you rent and ask was pets allowed and the landlord phone number. Pets are allowed at my apartment complex so I don’t see the issue.

I would 100% recommend Pets Fur People. We adopted two puppies from them last weekend and could not be happier! Pets Fur People was incredible and went above and beyond during the whole adoption process (application, communication, visiting, and follow up.) It is apparent that they love what they do and are dedicated to giving animals a good life. Our puppies were very well loved by the workers and came home with great manners and behavior. They sent us home with plenty of supplies and food which was also great. Huge thanks to Mamie, Terry, and Gale for their love and hard work!

This place is completely unprofessional. Do not adopt from here. I have adopted a dog here before about a year ago and the process was great, only because we did not talk to the old man that is always sitting behind the desk. Instead we had the sweetest woman help us with adopting. (The old rude man is who mainly answered the phone during my second experience). Back to my second experience trying to adopt because the first time was great--First off, I had my eye on this potential furry companion for weeks on their website. I finally had the courage to apply for the dog, only to be waiting for days for a call back. I finally called them and asked if I was able to see her, but I was still waiting on my apartment to approve of me having the pet, they told me "no" and that I had to wait for my landlords approval. I waited and finally got their approval and told Pets Fur People that they finally approved it. They then told me I could not meet her yet and I had to wait for Pets Fur People to speak with my landlord and that they would give me a call back. I NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. Right before they closed I called them to check on everything to make sure everything was okay since I didn't get a call back, the old man answered and told me he had denied my application because of my landlord even though she approved the dog for me. I lastly told the guy on the phone at pets fur people I was going to be registering her as a emotional support dog for my personal health. His disrespectful comment towards this made me rethink this whole place and what they stand for. He told me "that may mean something to you, but to everyone else it doesn't". Completely rude and disrespectful to anyone who needs an emotional companion. I use to big a BIG advocate for Pets Fur People and would constantly come to all of their events and keep up with their website, but not after this experience, I am heartbroken. Let me repeat the second sentence. Do not come here.

I am extremely heartbroken by my experience at Pets Fur People. We had found a dog that we loved and put in an application. We called that same day to ask if they received the application but they said they did not so we reapplied. Again they said they did not see the application but they would take our information down on the phone. The informed us that we seemed like a great fit and that we should come meet the dog tomorrow (Saturday morning). We were driving kind of far but thought it was worth it for the dog we wanted. We showed up around 10:40 on Saturday only to find that the dog was already meeting with another family. We waited for our turn and the staff informed us that "it's between you and one other family. We are going to let you see the dog and then we will all get together and discuss the case". So we got to meet the dog and absolutely fell in love. When the visit was over the staff informed us that they would make a decision by Tuesday and give us a call. We left feeling very hopeful and began planning the "what-if" and daydreaming about our potential new dog. All weekend we wait excitedly thinking we were being considered and had a chance because this shelter has a policy to find the best fitting home, not just the first to apply. Tuesday finally rolls around and we waited with baited breath all day hoping for the call, whether that be good or bad news. It gets later and later in the day and still we hear nothing. We have to call ourselves around 4pm to ask what the final decision was. The man informed us that the dog had already been adopted and it seemed they had no intention of letting us know that. We were absolutely devastated but understood that getting the dog was never a guarantee. The part that actually broke my heart is we found a facebook post from Saturday afternoon (the day we had visited the dog) saying that he had actually been adopted that morning. It seems like they adopted the dog before we got there even though they knew we also had an appointment that day. Not only that, we felt lied to. They lead us on with a front about how we were really be considered and they had no made any decisions yet. If they had told us when we got there that the dog had been adopted already we still would have been upset, but at least we would have considered looking for another dog. And even if they made the decision when we showed up, why lie and say "you still have a chance, we will let you know on Tuesday". At this point we will no longer play games with this shelter and get lead on for days, I will not ever consider adopting another dog from this location.

Pets Fur People is great. The application was easy, everybody was so friendly, and you could tell they genuinely care about the animals and the applicants. Meshel helped us through the whole process and really made us feel welcome. We picked a beagle mix that is full of love and excitement. We brought her back to get her shots and she was so happy to see everyoneagain.. They also gave us a bed and some food and treats for her. Gayle was so kind and friendly and took our picture and sent it to us.They even gave us a few tips for puppy training and a 50% coupon for obedience training. The place was clean and disinfected and the dogs seemed very happy there. If we ever get another pet then Pets Fur People is where we will go. Thank you Gayle and all the staff. Y’all are great and the animals are blessed to have y’all taking care of them. God Bless Pets FurPeople. I highly recommend them. Oh, and please donate to help them. They are all volunteers.
