Definitely the best outdoor store around here for sure. We just outdid ourselves on fishing rods and reels. We also bought a whole bunch of tackle and got some outdoor games. So much to buy, I wish I had a million to go in with. Staff always greets at the door and people are always checking on you while looking around to see if you need help. Fast checkout. Ian was the guy who helped us out a lot. Definitely very knowledgeable on fishing equipment and very friendly guy!! Thanks!!

Walked into the academy knowing what I needed. I even had a picture of a chair that I was looking for. I went to the outdoor section where all of the chairs are located walked up and down that aisle no less than four times. I finally went up to the front and asked a lady she said she was new and didn't know anything. She then directed me to the lead for that section. That gentleman just pointed me right back over to the chair since said they're over there somewhere. I was highly annoyed at this level of customer service. The female associate realized that I was frustrated and she followed me all the way back and said she could try to help me I said no worries. As I was walking through the store I noticed it was a disaster. Every end cap was destroyed and there was partial food eaten and laying around the entire store. There were maybe four families in the store. The only saving grace and what will have me come back to this store is Cameron. And he's only worked there for 2 days

Employees were nice, shoe department needs major organizing, had to hunt for my size and dig behind other boxes to find what i was looking for, took over 30 minutes .

This store has everything outdoor related. I went here for a merchandising job, but what I found were awesome people. I am a shopper here as well. It's just not often people leave impressions, and they did. I appreciate them and I appreciate academy!

It was a very busy store when I had to go in and pick my gear up that I had ordered online. The lady advised all that is waiting for things that she didn't have any idea how to work in this area, and she did a great job by getting what we needed and getting us out. I appreciate the hard work she applied to help us out. Oh yes, the lady that cut in line, well you weren't next and I forgive you and still got out before you...lalalala...hehehe

It's been a favorite go-to place for me forever, but it seems that the store may be beginning to falter a little. The store does not seem to be as organized as it used to be, or it's just due to the holidays with customers not caring about putting items back appropriately in their spots. However, customer service is excellent as always.

This place has become a dump. The checkout system is ridiculous. I always have to wait 10 minutes not matter what time I am in there. I stopped by yesterday on a Monday afternoon, and the store looked like a tornado went through it: trash all over the floor, clothes all over the floor, clothes in piles everywhere. They were not even busy. It was obvious that the store had not been cleaned in days. Employees were standing around everywhere. I can't justify shopping here anymore--too gross.

Don't like.this store much I bought.a pair of sweat pants there in men section on sale for $50 when I got.home realized they were women pants in wrong place when I took em back the next day ,they had me.leave pants.at.door while I look for another pair did not find so ask for refund anservice rep told his manager that I claimed they were $50 an had receipt but implied.i was.lying . I'm a 71 year old.man an did not appreciate there attitude. They are rude

Love this place!nice quality and good prices. so far, it has been my one-stop-shop for all of my family sports needs.when checking out I'd recommend asking for a young lady named Shannon A. she is exceptionally friendly and informative. (My wife keeps pushing me to say something.)

My husband needed a new pair of work shoes immediately but the pair we wanted were no where to be found among all the boxes. One of Academy’s new employees, Rianna, was very helpful and patient in helping us locate the exact size. She even got the ladder and searched the shelves above. After a lot of searching, we were ecstatic that she found the exact size and color he needed! She even checked back in to see how they fit. Thank you Academy for hiring reliable and friendly staff!

Usually a nice store. Was there right after opening and thought they had a clothes explosion! Thrown in heaps on tables, halfway hanging on racks, on floor under racks, etc.... Thought I had accidentally entered Burlington Coat factory!

Not specific to the Tyler location (that was where we ordered the item), but I had an AWESOME customer service experience resolving an incomplete order our local postal service screwed up. Call center was in Georgia and Kytana (Spelling?) was a model for customer service experience. Hopefully someone in corporate monitors this and tracks her down and rewards her somehow.

Went to buy fishing line and to get it spooled, told there was someone “on the way” 15 minutes later nothing, was then told the associate that does this,was not here! At the front desk was then told “the machine was broken” might want to cross-train ! And get your story straight, my neighbor had some line spooled the night before, pretty lousy service!

Found the exact pool I was looking for even though it said they were out of stock online. The guy got it loaded up quick and easy. Check out was simple and fast as well. On a different occasion, they didn't have the basketball goal out on the floor so one of the guys looked it up and went to pull it off the truck for me then loaded it up! Great service and so helpful!

Phone service sucks. Tried calling for 30 minutes and called different departments and never got a answer. You just hear the automated voice. Why have a phone if your not gonna answer!! Wouldn't even give a one star but that wasn't a choice

I was appalled at the number of garments and other items lying on the floor and no one was bothering to pick them up! It made the store appear trashy, so I was rather disappointed and did not want to look throughout ANY OF THE CLOTHING AREAS!

Waited 20 minutes at the gun counter, there was just one employee a stocky young man with a bur haircut. Left, then came back he was still to busy to wait on me. I came to buy a gun they had in stock. Finally he turns at looks at me and said yeah. I said yeah what, he said what do you want, I said to look at this certain gun in front of me. He said it would be a while. I said no it won't, I've already waited a while and left. Only telling this whole store for y'all to get this picture. I've had a academy credit care for 9 years used it all the time but never again at this store. This guy was unbelievable rude and I was not the only one waiting the man beside me walked away also. He was the worst ever, especially since the store was not even busy.

High retail prices. Not a discount or high value proposition location. Great selection... but no 410 or 16 shells. I know they are less popular but I would think they would have on offer. Reviewed the handguns and had trouble with seeing the selection as they were so crowded in case. The gun staff were so busy I didn't even bother waiting for the 5 deep line

The couple of people we met were nice to work with. The store was a bit of a cluster. There wasn’t much room to navigate around some of the clothes. Maybe tried to squeeze in too much. It’s all about ROI on square footage but dern. Found what I needed and the prices were in my range. The gentleman at checkout was great. We will go back.

I called in to figure out if they had running gel packets before I drove to the store, and a worker named Steven, working in the sports department, was very helpful. He answer my question, and even took the time to make sure they had the product on hand. Grateful for good customer service! Thank you very much!
