It's hard to find a used bookstore these days, but Books and Crannies will take you back to the days for your youth browsing a large collection of used books. There are a couple of other shops a well including clothing and a crystal store. In the back is the Iris theater, an intimate live theater which is home to the Vagabond Players, a local theater group. We enjoyed their rendition of "The second to last chance club", a comedy. if you are visiting in the area you must visit this store. The staff, including Stormy the cat, are friendly and welcoming. If you are there over a week end try to catch a play at the Iris.

I LOVE this store, always have. Employees are always nice and helpful. Books and cats are two of my favorite things. They have a large selection of fiction and big name authors. I would love to see more "new age" and poetry selection.

This is the coolest bookstore! There are so many great finds here. The store is very well organized but still has the perfect charm of treasure seeking and discovery! There are a couple of very sweet shop cats ❤️❤️ and tons of cool memorabilia. Also check out the fun consignment store🌞❤️ I can't wait to go back!

Great atmosphere, good selection of books at great prices. There is a nice resale shop attached. Lots of comfortable chairs and couches to lounge. The best part is they have 2 resident friendly cats! 😻😻

This place has a very nice atmosphere. I appreciate the wide range of books available, especially since there's books about history, even the darker parts, and books about religious practices other than Christianity. I love when other religions are given their place especially given that we're in the bible belt 😂 The kitties were very sweet too. Will be back!!

We very much enjoyed our visit. It has a cluttered attic feel with friendly store cats if that's your thing. Overheard conversations were between real people also somewhere in the maze of aisles not some idiot shouting on Bluetooth or speaker phone. Decent selections slanted heavily towards fiction. Shelf organization is unique but does lead one through multiple parts of the store as you glance at the next section and realize that sci Fi novel you didn't find in the scifi section could also be in the post apocalyptic section etc. There does seem to be an effort to gather series for the more prolific writers. This will definitely be someplace to return to regularly, and it's association with local theater and clothing resale shops makes it feel even more homey and welcoming.

Books & Crannies, along with the upscale boutique, Silhouette, are assets to Terrell. My daughters and I love to stop in and browse occasionally. It is such a cozy store that transports you back in time. The history of the actual building is amazing. Gail has a couple of well-behaved lap cats that only add to the wonderful vibe of this book store. If ever in Terrell, drop in. You’ll be glad you did!

This place is a dump. The owner made a comment about how they had been there for something close to 40 years and the décor shows they haven't invested $1 into it in all that time.There are wild cats roaming freely throughout the place and it smells like it. It appears they rent rooms above it by the hour to coincide with the "theater" that looks like it came out of an old adult movie store complete with stains from the pay a quarter real.The city should consider condemning this place especially considering its proximity to the whole downtown vibe.

Very nice little book store. They have a lot of items to shop from, including items other than just books. My only complaint is that they are still kinda highly priced for used books in my opinion. Still it is a very nice place to shop.

Great place to buy local! Stopped by on Saturday and Gail (and her cats) were there and more than willing to assist with finding a few books. She did a great job with the recommendations, and is more than willing to order books if she doesn’t have them in stock at the moment.Gail mentioned that they also do events at the store, which I can’t wait to come check out.

Very mysterious presence in the basement, when arriving there for the first time I was in search of books on demonology due to certain events that had been taking place recently in my life. I approached the owner of the store hopefully being unnoticed by other customers to avoid embarrassment. I kindly asked the lady if she had any books on daemons or demonology she glanced around slowly and said just one moment as she uncovered an old box beneath the counter. She looked back up at my eyes as to read my soul for what seemed like an eternity. She then opened the box and pulled out a skeleton key,shut it and walked towards the back turning and looking at me just moments later and said come flow me child. After entering a door quoted employees only we made our way down a stairwell there we stood. She said remove the rug from the floor, move it to the other side of the room and as I did a trap door was revealed. I cannot say what I seen or what is contained beneath the floors of this book store but I can say it is beyond belief of the normal man. I promised secrets with her and am bond to keeping them. But I can say that if you too are having dark visits from the underworld that what is contained here may be waiting for a discovery of you if that be your destiny.

Went to this shop for the first time yesterday. While I browsed the women's clothing my husband went toward the books. I bought some very pretty blouses and a skirt. My husband found and purchased a few books that he's been wanting for a long time. I'm so glad that we visited this shop and we'll definitely be going back.

I would recommend any book lover to go here! I enjoyed every minute. It is cute, cozy, magical, and affordable. There is even a free book area! Loved, loved, loved!!!! Will definitely be returning.

You don't find bookstores like Books and Crannies anymore. It is so cute and cozy and if you love the feeling of a book in your hand then this place is for you. It is an undiscovered treasure. The Iris Theatre that is situated in the back of the building is also an amazing place. We hold events there all of the time and it is an amazing place to use. You also must go see the plays that the Vagabond Players Troupe put on there. Always good for a great break away from the normal day and escape and laugh! Also, I love to shop at Silhouette's Resale Shop. I have a difficult time finding quality clothing at a reasonable weight because my weight shifts up and down sporadically. I can always find high name labels at a price that I can afford. An undiscovered treasure of a place!

I’ve been going to this book store since before the fire- since I was in high school 13+ years ago. Some of my best memories are of this place-waiting in line for the Harry Potter books to go on sale, going on a rainy day to browse the books, stopping by when I was bummed out just to pet the cat and buy books that I really didn’t need (because I have stacks and stacks at home that I haven’t read yet). This place is more than a book store. It’s been a comfort for me for over a decade, and I’m so grateful that it’s still standing.

This is the best place in tow ! You can read a good book, shop for books of all varieties. Shop for resale (upscale) women's clothing, shoes & accessories for a real bargain or come for a free movie the 2nd & 4th Friday's of the month & last but not least, come to one of their Black Box theater's performances. The 2 shop cats are great and Gayle is amazing! I love this place!
