We were in the area for 8 days and I realized I needed an oil change. Tom is the only guy in the area so I stopped by on a Monday to see if he could change the oil on my F-150 on Thursday. No problem. He gave me a fair quote and I brought it in and did the oil change for less than the quote. If you’re in the area, Tom is a trustworthy option.

Tommy and his assistant were great! I was 25 miles into my 400+ mile / 7 hour trip back to Austin with a low psi in my tire (like 12lbs of the 32 required 😳‼️).I was early (8AM), so there weren't many in front of me. I had my problem tire assessed and patched and all 4 inflated to specs within 30 minutes!I was afraid my drive back would be delayed by hours, I was barely off schedule and the price was fair, REALLY FAIR‼️ 😁Tommy, his assistant and his business were all such a blessing!While you visit be sure to ask Tommy about the great academic success of his 2 sons and daughter. He's got every reason to be a proud papa! 💪🌟

We were on vacation traveling and had a skid plate coming off of our Ford F150 and stopped at Terilinga auto. The owner met us and diagnosed the problem ran it up on the lift, and had it fixed with no wait Can’t say enough good things about the owner and the service.

We were recently in the Terlingua area for vacation. As we left the Summit heading to Big Bend, our battery light came on. We had just put in a new battery a month ago so we couldn’t understand what could be wrong. As my husband drove I checked the truck manual and read we really need to have it checked before proceeding. After all we didn’t want to get stranded in Big Bend National Park! Praying that maybe it was just a glitch and would go out (it was very cold that day), we passed Tom’s Automotive. An answer to my prayers! We stopped and the hubs made contact with THE nicest gentleman…you guessed it…Tom. He was busy as evidenced by several cars in the lot but he took time to come check the battery, alternator, cables, everything. It all checked out fine, he said it must have been a glitch and sent us on our way. It never happened again the rest of our trip. Folks, if you need any auto repairs, go see Tom. I stopped in on a Monday morning for a simple tire patch for a puncture. The folks there were very nice and friendly and I completely trusted them while I waited for my tire to be patched. I was shocked when I was told that I owed $50 for a $15 patch of a tire. Very sad that this business took advantage of a traveler to greatly overcharge them. Despite the very large cross prominent on the outside of the building, this wasn’t very Christian of them. Make sure you get an estimate from them before they do any work for you.

Thank goodness for Terlingua Auto! We were visiting Big Bend National Park and developed two tire leaks. We drove over to Terlingua and they fixed both tires while we waited. The people here are really nice and fun to talk with. They definitely saved our trip to this remote park!

Got an unfortunate flat on our way into Big Bend last week. Got the spare put on, but given where we were, we wanted to see about replacing/ patching the flat.They got the job done in less than 45 minutes, on what seemed like a busy day. Fee was cheap, and the staff was super friendly. You should feel confident about seeing these guys if you're needing auto help near Big Bend.

I blew a tire on my rental vehicle while touring Big Bend National Park. This company fixed it in 15 minutes for a reasonable price. They saved my trip from being a complete disaster. Highly recommended!

As soon as we arrived in Big Bend at Panther Junction, our 2018 car began sounding like death. We got a tow to Terlingua Auto, and within 5 minutes they fixed the problem. A tiny pebble had lodged itself between the rotor and dust shield in one of our wheels. They charged a very reasonable price and now we know how to fix this ourselves. They are great people.

we experienced a flat while driving through Big Bend. Fortunately we made it to Chisos Mountain village where a super helpful maintenance manager helped with putting on our spare. Next day we went to Terlingua Auto to see if tire could be fixed. We got there when he opened and he immediately stopped everything to fix the tire. It had a piece of medal in it. Superfast and friendly service. Forever grateful we could go on our way and continue to enjoy our vacation.

Had my truck break down in the middle of the desert, managed to get it to Terlingua Auto, they diagnosed it and the message was not a good one, Engine blown. I asked them to fix it, and as i needed to go home 500 miles away i needed a rental car, they managed to get me a lift to Midland Airport to get one. They fixed my truck and i picked it up at my next visit,They a genuine good people, the mechanic is skilled and a very service minded person. The truck is now good as new, a very nice job done.They took their time to show me exactly what the problem was and let me document it.It is nice to know that there is places where you can get the true honest old fashioned service by people who actually know the craft.And Archie has a lot of good stories to tell.

We were staying in Big Bend and the brand new 13 day old battery in our camper gave up the ghost. These fine folks tested the old one, confirmed my suspicions that it was junk and had a new one on the shelf. They also helped me warranty the bad battery by speaking with the RV dealership who installed it. Lets just say they had patience to deal with the rv folks. I appreciated the fast friendly service and would suggest anyone to stop in with problems on the road.

I barely made it in with a flat and a stripped lug nut. They guys were great and patched the tire, swapped it out and put on the new spare and found a new lug nut. Fair price, honest service and good work. A true asset in a place that can be pretty hard on all things automotive.

I cannot sing the praises of this shop enough. Archie (the owner) is so helpful. My best friend and I are both single moms, and we travel a lot with our kiddos. Her car broke down on a recent trip to Big Bend and Archie helped us out so much. We set up camp at his shop for half a day with my son, my giant dog, and my friend's daughter. Archie was so welcoming, making conversations with us and the other patrons who were in and out. It felt sort of like running into old friends. They got her car fixed and got us on our way. We were so appreciative of how we were treated, both as customers and as human beings. I hope I never have car issues in the area again, but if I do, I'll go here.

On vacation, the last thing you want is for your rental car to have tire problems. Luckily, within 30 miles of Big Bend National Park, Terlingua Auto Service was like an oasis in the desert. On a late afternoon with a slow leak tire, they had over four other flat tires to fix to get vacationers out on the road again. The professional advice was to fill our tire to the max and come back when they opened the next day. We did that with no problem, and within an hour were back on our vacation. He could have charged us the moon, but $30 and we were on our way with a receipt to give to our rental company. Thank you! And Archie is a hoot!

Brought my 1973 van in because it did not run well. I was told it needed a timing chain and that there were issues with the carburetor. Unfortunately I was only told about the carburetor issue on Friday (five days after they had it).They let me take the vehicle knowing that I needed to get home (some 2400 miles away).After 5 days they said the van was good to go, that they made some adjustments to the carburetor which should get me home.The van stalled and never idled and they closed for Easter weekend 20 minutes after I took delivery.I drove to Houston where I broke down and called the owner (Archie) to inquire about the warranty.He told me the repair warrantied was the timing chain and not the carburetor. What I needed was a new carburetor and they couldn’t order one on Good Friday. He said it was my decision to take the van. What he advised me was when I get around to it I should consider replacing the carburetor.I relied upon their expertice and had he told me we needed to replace the carburetor I would have agreed. Actually they never called me to authorize any work as I had given them full authorization to make my van right.So now I’m stuck in Houston and getting the right job done. Archie advised me to get a new carburetor in Houston. They had my van for five days and chose to only do part of the work needed. How arbitrary. Felt like every vehicle that came in pushed my repair out farther and farther.Be advised!

We were vacationing and got a flat on our rental car. They attempted a patch, but unfortunately it was beyond saving. They directed us to the nearest facility for a replacement. These guys went above and beyond to make sure were were welcomed and taken care of.

Took my Toyota Tacoma in for its 115,000 mile checkup right before I had to go to Austin. They were thru with it before I had finished the magazine I was reading. It's nice to know that the vehicle I am driving on some lonely highways is up to the task. I just don't worry about vehicle issues after I letting Terlingua Auto give it a checkup as I drive on some pretty rough roads out here.

Professional and HonestCould tell my alternator or belt pulleys were starting to go, so stopped at Terlingua Auto to have it all checked out.Brian, the main mechanic at Terlingua Auto determined it was the pulleys, not alternator, and provided a detailed estimate of parts and labor. I had the parts ordered, work done along with overdue maintenance and filter changes, and the vehicle checked over throughly. Brian went the extra mile in assuring everything was up to snuff and done right so I could continue my wandering around North America.When I discovered he knows diesels and has worked on Duramax engines, well dang, it was a no-brainer to schedule some glow plug work I’ve been putting off.Finding a great mechanic and a business you can trust is like finding the right barber; doesn’t always happen, but when it does you don’t want to lose them.

I had the belt go out on my 99 E-350 van diesel. Diesel vans are very rare so I knew I was stuck until a part could be gotten. Terlingua Auto had it in stock. I could not believe it and at a good price. They saved the day.
