Delicious food, incredible service, and open late enough to get dinner after our sunset hike! They have indoor and outdoor seating including a second-floor patio where we ate under the stars. Such a lovely experience and our server was so warm and friendly. We LOVED our food, it was seriously so tasty and the portion sizes were perfect. We would for sure eat here again and highly recommend for any visitors to the area!

Stopped in for cocktails and snacks. We ordered chips, salsa, queso and guacamole. Queso was delicious ! Ordered spicy mango margaritas and they were amazing! We would definitely come back for more of them. They do have live music at times and they have an outdoor balcony that looks inviting! The server, Amy was very knowledgeable about local events, weather, chili cook off and everything in between! We will definitely be back!

All you can eat CONDIMENTS!!! That’s right! Actual bottles of ketchup and mustard on your table! Since the Cornyvirus seems like every restaurant on earth took bottles of ketchup and mustard salt and pepper off tables. So annoying!!! Not High Sierra. They got squeeze bottles of mustard and ketchup along with real salt and pepper shakers. So in addition to that there is: Excellent service. Very good food. Nice prices. Great live music too. One of the better places in Terlingua. Not packed with tourists. Wait staff is very friendly

Extremely busy causing it to be slow which is understandable, but the lady would tell us five more minutes and it would actually be another 15 (waited about an hour overall). We saw reviews about the great Mexican food but the new menu only has 1-2 Mexican food items. Ran out of multiple things by 8pm - no chili, no chips for appetizer, no regular fries, no cooked veggies for sides. Poor manager decision-making to force the customer to pay extra for an upgraded side like onion rings that they didn’t even want. You might be better off not paying any extra and getting no side at all. Portions are extremely small for a dish that’s over $20 - they give you like 7 sweet potato fries, but maybe they were just trying to portion the last of their sides this day. The guy playing guitar was nice, loved the live music. Probably better to try going to Starlight Theater for the same price if you can get in queue.

Service was goodHouse marg with golden tequila was great! The street tacos were good and flavorful. They were very thin, def could’ve used more filling. Beans were tasty. Rice wasn’t very good. Bowl of chili (meat based) was good (no beans). Chips and queso was good.Overall good. A little overpriced but good.

We got here pretty late, Google shows that they're open until 12am, which they are, but the kitchen closes at 10pm. Not many people were there since it was a Sunday night, but the waitress was still very nice and did a good job. All other staff was friendly as well. The food was good compared to the other local restaurants. For late night eating, this is the best place. Just try to get there a bit before the kitchen will close to have access to the full menu.

Heard a recommendation for this place from a Big Bend NP podcast, specifically the Mexican food. I can’t say enough about it; we loved it! We were able to sit outside in the covered patio with my dog. The service was really, really great! Our waiter took care to pay attention to my red onion allergy and wanted to ensure we had no problems. We started with chips, guac and salsa. Delicious! Then we both got the tacos and loved them. Even the music playlist, which our server put together, was great! If you’re in the area, don’t pass this place up.

Stopped in on a cold rainy day for a nice hot lunch. Our waitress was very welcoming, helpful, fun and attentive. The food was delicious.

Great service and great food. Our first experience with them was a large carryout order while we were camping up the road. The food was delicious and we brought our 15-person party the next night for on-site dining. The staff and operation is COVID-safe and did a wonderful job with our multiple families. Highly recommend.

26/5 stars. This restaurant was supreme. It enlightened our tastebuds. The atmosphere was super cozy with a bar, live music, and a movie projector. The friendly servers took their time to chat with us and checked in regularly. Although we came in late when most of the food was unavailable (Thanksgiving rush), they had great options available on the late menu (including vegetarian). Everything was fresh and filling, and came quickly on a busy night. After eating I ran back to my car and cried with joy.

I just want to thank the staff who was working tonight, April 6, 2024 - as even though their kitchen was closed they didn’t let us starve. We are staying at the El Dorado next door and driving all the way from Dallas for a surprise proposal - I was up since 4:30 am and worked until 9:00 pm… We had just gotten back to the hotel and walked in to High Sierra when they had already closed their kitchen. We decided to try our luck with another place that showed they were open until 1 am - just to be told their kitchen was also closed. I almost begged “for whatever they have left, we’d be ok with that” yet again all the hostes repeated was “nope sorry we are not serving food to anyone anymore. We’re already a full house and got enough people to feed”. They very well know there’s nothing around - and it was just too much for them to be human and work something out.We returned back to the High Sierra and I had to tell them “I’ve been driving and working all day, I’m ok with whatever yall have left.”They only had one last bowl of chili left along with chips and salsa/guacamole/queso… but it was the best. Our server was amazing - she was “on it” and we didn’t have to ask for anything. The chips just kept coming and finally when we were no longer starving a gentleman from the bar brought us shots of tequila “to end the long and exhausting day on the best note.”From now on I’m definitely coming here anytime I’m visiting Big Bend - to stay at El Dorado and feast at High Sierra. I’m hoping to grab lunch there tomorrow before I leave so I’ll definitely update my review with the actual food but the people are the sweetest and honestly that’s all you need.Thank you so much again for your kindness, hospitality and for not turning us away like the other place. Y’all took great care of me and my friend. I’m definitely a life long loyal customer as long as these two establishments are open and I hope I can come back to Big Bend soon 🏻

This place was absolutely amazing, the staff was very friendly. If you’re in ghost town this is a must visit. The food was absolutely delicious. Their award winning chili was amazing, I can see why they hold the title of the best chili. The staff and owner were extremely nice to us. We also walked in after kitchen hours and they still served us. This is amazing and I wish most businesses did this. This business has my full support and I will definitely be stopping here again, thank you High Sierra Bar and Grill. The service was a 10/10, the food was a 10/10, and the environment was a 10/10. If y’all are in town y’all need to stop here, it will not disappoint.

We've tried High Sierra twice in six months and I think I'm done with this place. They don't offer refried beans with the enchilada plate - seriously? The service was generally quite slow despite 3 wait staff and only 3 occupied tables at the start of lunch. The fries were really good, queso dip was good, but the rest of our food was mediocre at best.

The first time we dined here, it was great. Cold beer, good food, hot salsa. The last few times, though, not so great. They seemed to have changed the menu and the food selection is okay. I had steak fries because nothing else looked appealing. We had margaritas, but they were basically orange juice; couldn't taste or feel the alcohol. They offer hot dogs, burger, ham & cheese sandwiches. And, I know this is Terlingua, but the food seemed overpriced. We gave it a few shots, but we won't be dining here anymore when we visit. The service was good, though.

Took over 1.5 hours for all four of us to correctly receive our meals. We ordered two chicken and two beef enchilada plates, and they just kept bringing the wrong food, and the food ended up not being worth the wait. The waitress wanted to take two meals off the bill. The manager ended up taking our payment and only took off 10%. At that point, we just wanted to get out of there. We had heard good things about the restaurant and everyone has a bad day so I'm sure we will try it again on our next trip.
