In previous years, I've avoided The Book Cellar as it was dark and unorganized. I'm happy to say there have been great improvements! There's two ladies working now that are doing a great job making the environment cleaner, more organized, and safer to walk around. Happy to see security cameras, seating area, and lights installed. Light up sign outside now tells customers when the store is open so you don't have to walk down the stairs to check. Loved the Stephen King bookcase! So creative and welcoming. Will definitely come again. The ladies are so nice, and open to chatting about concerns or recommendations!

Awesome place, it's filled with tons of antique books I haven't seen since I was a kid. The lady that runs the shop is really sweet.

Lovely little book store full of treasures. Thomas the Tank Engine is amazingly sweet and followed me all over the store wanting to be petted.

So let me first say that I love real books. Books I can hold in my hand. One of the things I didn't really care for is that on the older books or even some of the other books they didn't have prices for them they had to Google them. And you know if I go into half price books they have markings. I didn't really care for that. I will say that there is a lot of books in that store. it's a little chaotic but there are a lot. I do believe that the community should come together and you know even if you buy one book at 10 bucks or a couple of books to assist with keeping a brick and mortar bookstore open that's what should happen. My only advice would be to have pricings already on the books or bookmarks with prices on them especially for the really old books so that there's no guessing game. I collect really old antiques books, Maps, you name it. And the people were really nice as well

Really nice people own this place. There are a TON of books to choose from. They have anything and everything from comic books, bibles, dvds, and trading cards, to autographed pictures of celebrities. They even gave lollipops to the kids. They're really knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. If you're a book lover, you should really check this place out!

The refurbishment is going great! The Book Cellar stays open late during the city of Temple's "First Friday" -where parts of downtown become walkable streets with live music, food trucks and beer stands. This store is awesome, with great science fiction and history/world sections. Old books and new titles. Buy a gently used copy for way better prices than you'll find at Barnes and Noble. Figurines and certified signature collectibles, sports and nerd stuff. One of my Top Summer Beat the Heat locations for sure.

This is a great little used book store. They also carry some memorabilia, and there is a large room full of comic books. You can trade in used books and get one free for every three. It would be easy to spend hours perusing their shelves. Will definitely come by again!

Do you love the smell of old books? Do you enjoy lounging around the house reading a classic book from your childhood? Do you enjoy playing some D&D with your buddies? Then this is the place for you? I've been going here since i was a child. This place has everything from CDs & DVDs from comic books to car repair manuals. From TTRPG books to minis. Collectors might find something they need to add to their collection. Art. Toys. Signed photos. I've even seen a local author do a book signing once. Walk down into a mythical and magical place called The Book Cellar.

I dropped by The Book Cellar recently for the first time. This shop is located in an actual cellar in downtown Temple. The shop's vibe and underground location reminds me of places I have visited in New York City and Chicago. There was a wide variety of books, vinyl, comics and memorabilia. The employee was very friendly and offered help. I'll surely be back again soon.

Every single time I go to this little bookstore I have a haggle with the lady at the front over the price they themselves have on their book/s. If a retailer refuses to honor a marked price as The Book Cellar almost always does you can complain online at the Texas Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection or the US Governments Consumer Finance Protection Bureau as I intend to do.

This place has been there forever. I remember going there back when i was in elementary school. It was the early 80s. I may just have to make a trip back there. I'm out of state now, but went to high-school in Temple back in the late 80s.

I just now got to visit this place and I instantly fell in love with the store, the people and everything in it. SO MANY BOOKS! I was in awe with how many old books were there and not just books but really epic memorabilia too! I ended up getting a bunch of TTRPG miniatures and a signed photo. I really hope this place stays open.

Love this place it's been a long time since I've been back but the memories I have of going there are really special to me. My grandparents used to bring me starting about 35 years ago. This place is what helped to foster my love of reading. My grandparents are no longer here but this place reminds me of them and one of my favorite things in life a great book. Will most definitely be visiting very soon I'm so excited to step back in time and visit the store again. I know I'll be sad to walk through those doors again without them but excited to bring my daughter who also loves to read now!!

The Book Cellar is exactly as it sounds, a great little cellar store full of of tons of books! I almost missed the stairs leading down into this rabbit hole of literature. Nice selection of a bit of everything, prices are very reasonable, staff knows where you can look to find your interest, so plan to spend a lot of time browsing through the shelves. As stated, it is in a large basement filled with books and more, so it can feel a bit close at times, but I found that as part of the appeal while hunting my favorite authors through the maze. Well worth your time to take the trip down the rabbit hole!

This place has an abundance of books to choose from. It is literally wall to wall, floor to ceiling, of books. Semi organized and clean. He carries some of the more rare, antique/vintage books as well. Which makes this place stand out, to me. The person working seemed to know some of his customers on a more personal level, which was pretty cool. I will definitely be visiting again.

Looking for something to do in Temple Texas? If you are a reader I would consider The Book Cellar a "Must See!" Located in the actual basement it would be easy to miss, but don't let that happen to you. This is the very definition of a hidden gem. You will be greeted by the comforting smell of used books that permeates the air upon entering. Whether you are looking for comics, paperbacks or collectable treasures including signed first editions this is the place. The prices are very reasonable and the owner is a nice guy. Don't miss The Book Cellar if you are ever in Temple Texas! 10/10

Not a great location and pretty claustrophobic. That being said, they've an excellent variety of used books for anyone looking to score some cheap reads. There is some comics and sports memorabilia, if that's your fancy, but the sheer number of novels available is worth a look.

My family has been going to the Book Cellar for over 10 years! We always enjoy browsing through the books, and chatting with the employees. It’s so fun to see all the old books and collectibles. Even if we don’t buy anything, it’s always a good time!

I love going to the Book Cellar! It's got hidden treasures with rows and rows of books, comics, posters, signed photos, collectables and such. You can find the coolest stuff here or order special items for pickup. Prices range from low to high and there's something for everyone, so treat yourself to at least one item before you leave.
