I saw their road side add in Llano, TX and decided to go for a visit. I'm so happy we went! All the great reviews here are true! The burger and patty melt were amazing, the staff and patrons were all fantastic people, the beer was cold, and the place was more than worth the 20min drive from Llano. Most importantly, the staff and all the people around were friendly and made the visit so much fun!The only wish I would have is for them to have even more fun merchandise to shop for because I would have bought every trinket that fit me to support this awesome business!

This place is about as "Spit & Sawdust" as you'll get.I fell in love with it the moment I walked through the door.What can I say? Service is outstanding. Beer's cold. BBQ's great and so are the steaks. And to finish it all off, the General Store is loaded with an eclectic assortment of fantastic folks.If you're at this end of the Hill Country and you want to experience Rural Texas, this is your place.Pro-Tip: Sundays are "Steak Days" and the Rib-Eyes are excellent.Bonus Pro-Tip: Be sure to check out the "Testicle Festival" on the 3rd Weekend of May

Fun place to stop in Castell, Texas. Little convenience store serving great hamburgers and other items.There is inside seating for those who prefer a milder climate and outdoor seating for those who prefer to true outdoor experience.We were treated to an outdoor concrete during lunch time by two entertaining musicians.

Spent a week in Castell recently and hit the Castell General Store for a sinfully delicious patty melt. Comes with Lays potato chips and if you are friendly, they will give you pickles and jalapeños as well.They also have a few items for purchase, mostly essentials, and you can always have lively conversation with the locals.

Great people and atmosphere! Whether you're a local or just visiting the place is very welcoming and so are the people working there. We just stopped in for a quick lunch but they are set up for live music and events with both indoor and outdoor seating. I can't wait to drop in again sometime when they have an event going on. I highly recommend making the drive out to check these folks out. Worth it!

The BEST Burgers for this hidden gem, that sits alongside a windy road. Been there twice, and had the same famous burger, cooked to perfection. Rich, fresh and full of flavor. Small town feel, where they all know each other and welcome a stranger with a smile and cold beer.Favorite spot along the Llano river.

The real deal! Great owner and staff, with a very small town atmosphere. Lots of ranchers and locals always in attendance. Old fashioned hamburgers at lunch that are fabulous. And don't miss the Saturday afternoon BBQ. Unbelievable brisket, along with chicken, sausage and ribs. Delicious!

First time but heard and read about the General Store. Fun experience with good, juicy ribs and one steak very tender cooked as ordered. Side dishes all enjoyable with banana pudding for desert. Will go again soon.

This is a cute general store. They have a small restaurant menu. The staff was super friendly. And the food was great. I had the tacos and my dad had the patty melt and it was BIG.

The Jody Proctor band played for 7 hours. The people were awesome. Everyone had a great time. Jody, Randal Branscum, Rocky Dodson and guest steel man Gary Harkins had such a good turnout. Hopefully they will be invited back.Great group of folks

Husband and I go to the general store often for the best burgers & on Sunday's the best steak you can get anywhere. The owner & staff are friendly & fun to spend the afternoon with. It's out of the way but so worth it!

Glad they're open despite Covid. Still a nice place to sit out. However, $17 for a small burger, with a piece of lettuce, tomato and onion, tiny packet of chips, with a can of beer ($5) seemed like poor lunch deal.

They had wonderful homemade burgers! The meat was good, thick, and juicy! I'd so eat here again. You go through a small line and add whatever you want to your burger.

Great place for an afternoon. They have steak lunch till 3:00 pm on Saturday. The general store is great fun with wine and beer. They have kayaks to rent or you can just float in the llano river. Lots of fun!
