Update: At the ER hospital yesterday the doctor wanted to know where to send my medication. Smithville pharmacy does not take my insurance, and no long delivers, so Brookshire Brothers was offered, and I took it. I was not aware they even had a pharmacy. I spoke to the pharmacist from the hospital asking if my prescriptions would be ready soon. Yes! Within 15 minutes! Only one person infront of me, I was out of there very quickly. Thank you Brookshire Brothers for this much needed service! Knowing I can walk to get to a pharmacy is a blessing.I am grateful for a grocery store in our town. It is the only one here and we should count our lucky stars to have it. Living downtown it is walkable to get to. There is a crossing light to use in order to get past the busy highway 95, but I hardly use it because there is no sidewalk for nearly a block on the other side and pushing my cart with one hand and holding onto my service dogs harness with the other on uneven rocky road is difficult for me, so we just play Russian Roulette running across the street. This is a city issue, not the stores fault, but they do have influence when it comes to safety of visiting their store. The staff are locals who are lovely and charming, always helpful and cheerful. The number one reason to come to this store. They have a good variety of produce for my animal shelter and vegan food pantry with discounted banana's in bags. The pantry gets the best of the bunch, the rest I make banana bread, peanut butter smoothies (🐶 loves that) and the bunnies, turkeys and turtles have to wrestle for the rest with peels going into the gardens to help the plants grow. They do have some vegan varieties that are much appreciated, but no longer have vegan butter and never any vegan cheese and ice cream, so for that I take off a star. They have recently renovated the store with wonderful upgrades.

I moved to Smithville 9 years ago in preparation for retirement & to get out of the fast lane. Brookshire Bros has improved 100% in that time frame. They've had a Remodel & its awesome.The New Store Director, together with the "Team" he's assembled, has turned this store into a diamond. They may be a little higher on some items, but they also have items no other stores in our immediate area carries, have Awesome sales & a Members Only Club that's Free & gets you some really good deals. And, the Pharmacy Customer Service cannot be surpassed!! Try them out for your prescriptions!For the last 3 years, I rarely go to Bastrop for groceries anymore. I'm only 67, so am still able to drive just fine.When I read some of these reviews & think most people don't realize that Brookshire's is really great about hiring our high-school kids, hence the employee "turnovers". That's what businesses in Small Towns do & have done ever since I can remember - it's good policy to do so. Even 9 years ago the Employees have always been friendly & helpful.I am truly grateful for my hometown Grocery store!

Its a small town grocery store. Helpful staff and friendly as well. Very good fried chicken from the deli. They have self checkout lines now so it can be as fast as a conventional store if you just need a few items

Drive thru at the Tobacco store. Has always, the friendly staff is helpful and courteous.Try to catch the fountain drink specials on Tuesday and Friday.If you're fur-kid is with you, treat for them 😉

I was the last customer one night about two months back only myself and employees left in store. I did a quick dash through the store to grab dinner, formula and diapers, trying to beat the closing bell. I had been a loyal customer for many years. I entered the store with a $100 bill in hand for my purchases, in a rush to grab the last few items I dropped the hundred when I switched hands loading the handheld basket the hundred fell to the top of my basket as I rounded the corner and made it halfway way down the second isle the cash slipped from my top basket about 10 feet from an employee that was stocking shelves.. once I made it to check out I realized this and ran back to backtrack my last few steps and it was gone.. at first managers took me into the back to review the footage as soon I I observed what happened and pointed out where it was dropped and how the employee got up and walked to step on the hundred I had dropped and wait for me to pass they refused to zoom in on the footage and told me I was accusing their employees of theft and needed to leave, they and myself called the police as the officer entered it was like a family reunion as you can hear the excitement in the officers voice saying his hellos to individuals asking about their personal lives then comes back out minutes later grilling me without time to view the footage and started treating me like a drug attic theift basically called me a liar and accused me of not entering with money in the first place.. to cut a long story short it was a disgusting, horrifying experience that's left me embarrassed to re-enter the store. If the small town price gouging isn't enough, next step is getting robbed by the employees and treated as if you're the criminal. I hope HEB comes and puts them out of business the place seems to be ran by teenagers fresh out of or still in highschool.

I enjoy shopping here it beats fighting the crowds in Bastrop at the HEB and Walmart. Brookshire Brothers has everything you need without having to go too far from home, f you live locally. All the workers are friendly. Produce is always good. They have a nice deli with hot food too, if you're not up for cooking.They even have a nice little houseplant section and a pharmacy.

Nice grocery store with a full service deli for hot food. If you are at Rocky Hill Ranch or Buescher State Park, this place is just a couple of miles down the road. Stop by for drinks and ice and a hot snack.

I'm not pleased with the produce. Every time I go over to get produce, the tomatoes are rotten or there are other rotten produce mixed in like with the lines or the lemons, and it ruins the entire batch. Also I suspect that the avocados are being frozen, but I cannot even eat them. I bought two large ones which was $5 for two large ones, most I've ever spend on avocados, and they were so hard and rubbery I had to throw them away. Even when they were decomposing they did not look natural

Oh my goodness what a difference! My husband and I live in town, we primarily went to Bastrop for groceries . Not anymore. Imagine our surprise to go into our local Brookshire Brothers Grocery Store, freshly remodeled. Thank you for bringing this store into the 21st century! It is modern, bright spacious. If you haven't already checked the " new" grocery store out, one visit will make trips to HEB fewer.

We love this place coming from Austin. The people at the deli counter were not too friendly but they did a good job with our orders. They weren't rude though. When we go to small-town places, we always feel like everybody can tell that we're city slickers. But we grew up in a small town and we loved it there!

Great store when I need to get something but don't want to go to la grange or Giddings, have most things that I need and the chicken there is great, highly recommend

Great little grocery store. Staff is polite and friendly. Prices are pretty good generally, but sale prices are especially good. I enjoy the meat selection and fresh produce is just what I like and appreciate. Bakery has goodies that are a treat when I don't feel like cooking. Lots of inventory for a relatively small space, but plenty of room to move around and get what you need.

I was recently in the Brookshire Brothers store at 501 Northwest Loop 230 in Smithville On July 9 and I was so impressed to see that the store looks recently remodeled and so new and fresh! I was looking for some items for a picnic and I was especially impressed with the fresh meat and produce selection. A wonderful employee in Produce named William was especially helpful and knowledgable about the fruits. He helped me find the dragon fruit which I was looking for for a recipe. I was so excited that this little store had such an array of fresh exotic fruits. I was impressed by the selection of produce, the employees knowledge of the fruits and vege and the overall look and feel of the store. It had a farmers market feel that made it comfortable to shop there and the cashiers were friendly also. Thanks again to William who really stood out as fruit expert!

This was my first time to shop there as I don't live in Smithville. I wanted to pick up a dessert for an event that I was invited to. It is a small store with a limited selection. Their prices seemed high to me. I picked up a variety container of cake, but put it back when I saw that it was $17.99. I don't buy cake as I prefer to bake my own so maybe this is a normal price for some people. I put it back and left. If I lived in Smithville, I would drive to Bastrop to shop for groceries.

Wow! I love the new look and feel of BBros. It's been a long time coming. I cannot wait for online ordering, my preferred shopping method.The new and improved layout is intuitive and well stocked with common sense separation of goods. I'm actually enjoying the shopping experience!

Would shop there more often if they offer any organic produce. I’ve been a few times and there is literally none as far as I could see. Understand it’s a small town store many other stores offer good selection of organic produce and other goods indicating that is what consumers are buying. I’ll check back in occasionally if I need something but lack of organic selection will keep my money elsewhere.

The prices are higher than what I normally pay at other grocery stores. Now the customer service was absolutely unbelievable. As I was walking down the aisle looking for toilet paper a super sweet lady walked by, smiled and said hi. Then she realized that the brand of paper I was looking for was no longer on the shelf. She got on their communication system and had more brought up from the back. Needless to say I will stop by anytime I am in the area.
