It's sort of a hobby of mine to stay at some of these classic hotels/motels. The night prior I stayed at the Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari, NM and it was actually recommended by several folks to give this one a try as well. I'm glad that I did. The owners take pride in their establishment, and it shows in both the hospitality and cleanliness of both the rooms and motel overall.Also, the location can't be beat. As a road geek myself, I enjoyed staying at the corner of old Route 66 and US 83 (The Great Plains Hwy - which is also a bucket list trip of mine as well.)

Western MotelRoute 66 Shamrock, TexasDuring this trip, we decided to stay at some Route 66 Motels. One that we stayed at is located on Route 66 Shamrock, Texas. We booked the room because people have suggested this motel and had great reviews from others who had stayed there. I could already tell that the motel was going to be clean. The exterior property and the grounds were clean, and the curb appeal for the motel was excellent.Our room was great and it was nicely decorated. The color scheme was bright and colorful. As someone who has worked in hotel operations and management, I would say this was a very clean room. The beds were made perfectly, and I could tell that the owner took his time inspecting the rooms for the guest. There are several amenities in the rooms, such as a mini fridge, coffee maker, and luggage stand. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.During our stay while I was taking photos in the morning, the Jyoti Uppen Patel came up to me, and we had a great conversation about The Western Motel. He is a great owner and is quite personable. I could tell he is eager to make sure his guests are comfortable. He told me that he likes to clean the parking lot. We spotted him doing this while we ate across the street. This makes sense since it's one of the first impressions a guest will notice. Well, at least that's what I notice first. He was kind enough to show me the rooms upstairs. All the rooms upstairs have a great view of the Conoco Station located across the street. I could only imagine what it looks like at night from the second floor. The room on the left has the best view. One room even has three beds, which is perfect for families. The rooms were very clean as I watched Jyoti fix a few things in the rooms. He has his standards, and I can appreciate that, especially since he can spot what's wrong with the cleaning immediately, especially if something is out of place.This is a must stay for travelers, and the owners are great. Their guest service is fantastic, and they make sure that the guest will be comfortable in clean rooms.Thank you, Jyoti, for a wonderful stay at the Western Motel.

Stayed at the Motel on our travels the day before Thanksgiving 11/22/23. Owners were very nice and polite, the room was very clean, easy access in and out, and being able to park right at the front door of our room so we didn't have to worry about someone breaking into our SUV was relaxing. Got a good nights sleep, everything worked in the room, it was peaceful. We will have no problems staying there again if we need a place to rest. Thank You to the owners, you have a nice place to stay.

What a great stay in a great location! Get one of the rooms that overlooks the iconic Conoco station on Route 66. We got fantastic photos from the room.This place is extremely well run by lovely people who want you to be comfortable and happy. We ended up staying an extra night.Coffee in the room, easy safe parking and very clean room and grounds! "Happy ATM" in the parking lot with neon! And cool lighting on the motel. A great stay. Quiet and blackout drapes.Rooms: Super clean, spacious room with fun colors. Recently remodeled. Great shower pressure.Safety: Felt very safe here, and room to pull our classic truck under an awning if the weather caused concern.Walkability: Cool pizza place very close and cafe and dollar store directly across the street.Noteworthy details: The BEST place to see the most iconic site on Route 66

I can’t say enough good things about the people here. My mother was traveling cross country. I was able to contact the motel in advance and set her up with a room. They even followed up the day before to let me know they were ready for here. My mother was really excited about the hotel and said everything was perfect. MUST STAY AT WESTERN MOTELVery nice Motel and owners are very helpful.Clean rooms with all amenities with very affordable room rate and location is close to everything. It beats any five star Hotel/Motel.Motel is on historic Route 66 with a view of U-Drop Inn Tower Plaza.Rooms: Very clean room with nice bed and shower pressure is very good.Creamiest room I have stayed in my life as I stay in Hotel/Motel very frequently.Safety: Area is very safe and well lighted very clean facility.Walkability: Close to everything like restaurants and storesNoteworthy details: On top of everything it’s a mom and pops Motel with all amenities and five star service.Thank you to Motel staff and owners

Room was quiet, just leave the wall fan on and you don't hear the outside noise. Was overall clean and quiet, comfortable king bed. Plenty of well lit parking for a truck and trailer if needed. Easy check-in, cash or card. What you would expect for a motel, not high-end but if you just looking for a place to stay for the night and check out all the Cars movie stuff around town. Town this is a very nice hotel.I would stay here again.Nearby activities: Cars movie buildings everywhere.

This was our second stay at the Western. The Western offers a room equipped with not just two, but three queen beds. This perfectly caters to the needs of larger families like ours. The Western maintains a high level of cleanliness each time we have stayed. And the owner is very friendly. Skip the big hotels and stay somewhere with a great atmosphere! Nice rooms, beautiful art, and walking distance to Route 66 attractions! The owners really care about their customers and focus on having clean and comfortable rooms. I've stayed 3 times here and will make it a point to stay again next time I pass through. It's that good!

I can not say enough about this place! We stayed here on our way to Las Vegas. We had a long drive the first day, and I was worried about checking in late. I called to let them know. The owner who takes care of the place is one of the nicest people ever! He told me no worries.He was so welcoming when we arrived. He even came by to check on us as we were unloading our luggage to make sure everything was okay in our room. He brought us more coffee to make sure we had enough. This place has a nostalgic feel being right next door to the iconic Conoco gas station. Stay here if you get a chance. I would definitely stay here again!

I was recently able to travel a good portion of Route 66 and seeing the glow of the U Drop Inn again was high on my list of must-do items for the trip. The timing worked out that we would be staying in Shamrock overnight. I had heard great things about the Western Motel and the idea of staying right across the street from the historic Conoco Tower Station was so exciting! Check in was fast and the service was friendly. When we told her we were doing Route 66 she offered us what I consider the room with the best view possible: a large window directly facing the tower! The room itself was immaculate and very comfy. Add that to the incredibly friendly service and affordable rate and the stay was absolutely perfect. I will definitely be staying here again on my next Route 66 journey!

Exceeded my expectations, initially I reserved another room but upon arrival we asked for the room with a view. we had room 224 the view was amazing. The room was nice and cool temperature wise, very clean we were told the carpet was just cleaned. The room came with 2 beds a desk, a fridge which was a PLUS. Mr. Patel was very nice, accommodating and attentive.Rooms: We stay for one night but the AC by the bed is not a comfortable place. other than that make sure you get the bed by bathroom lol. Rooms were clean little fridge little microwave great placeWalkability: Yes family dollar across the street, 2 local restaurants behind motel.Food & drinks: New steak house opened up Grifs Steak house behind the western motel. When we went no liquor license but the food was very good.Noteworthy details: Support the local business

This was the best motel we have stayed in in years! Clean, well maintained, updated and everything worked and ran like it was supposed to, no construction, smells great, pet friendly, close/walking distance to Rusty’s on 66, pizza/burgers/family friendly welcoming restaurant. A quiet good nights sleep. Right on the corner from the movie Cars, across the street from Luigi’s Tires. Didn’t realize it when we booked, a pleasant surprise.After a very stressful day of bad weather driving, Western Motel was a Godsend❤️Rooms: Clean, updated, smells great, warm, comfortable. Pet friendly and The coffee was drinkable👍🏻Walkability: Clean and open parking lot. Very well lit at night.Food & drinks: Rusty’s on 66. Good prices, great food. Friendly welcoming staff. I stayed on 13 September, spacious, clean rooms, well-functioning air conditioning, very kind owner, always available for any need or request, quiet area. Restaurants and bars within a few minutes Walk. I thank the owner for offering me a room overlooking the U-Dropp Inn, beautiful. Another important positive note is the shower in the room, FANTASTIC! On the way through the Route I stayed in 18 hotels and here I found the best shower of all, even a 4 star hotel. If I have the chance I will come back

On old 66 and worth the 1 or 2 miles off of the interstate. The motel is clean, quiet and far enough away to avoid any highway noise. The restaurant across the street is only open 10-4 but is in a beautifully restored old corner gas station worth a walk around. A really nice quiet stop over after a long day on I-40. We booked with an on like broker but still received a personal call from the owner wondering if we had any special needs or pets. It's great to know we still have small businesses like this around.

You will not find a better place to stay. The front desk was extremely kind and chatty. It’s nice to have a few minutes of conversation after a 14 hour drive with 4 kids. To say the rooms are clean would be an understatement. They are spotless and very well designed and decorated. We had no disturbances and the bed was very comfortable. The morning was wrapped up with a nice hot shower and great water pressure. Price was great. 10 out the of 5 stars

My family and I stay at this location multiple times a year and we are never disappointed. The owners are amazing! The property is extremely clean. And we never seem to want to leave. Worth the stay if you are in the area ! Don't miss this one.
