Really enjoyed the stopover on our drive from Houston to Austin- food was great, service attentive and the ambience was relaxed and fun.We basically ordered every single starter and they were very good. Especially the Brussels sprouts. The lamb burger was outstanding as the feta lands a lovely twist to the eat feel - felt almost like a Mediterranean kebab in the burger! The pecan bread pudding was lovely though the cheese cake was not spectacularThat said - the prices were more like Boston or NY than schulenburg!!!Vegetarian options: There are some veg options but not a lot

Everything I've ever had here was outstanding. My wife's favorite is the portobello stuffed mushrooms, with a blue cheese burger. My favorite is the farmer Fred burger. Anything off of the menu is great. Prepared to order and always delicious.Vegetarian options: I'm not vegetarian, so I posted pics of the menu.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp coming in, gravel parking lot.

The location and building was lovely. The service was very indifferent - not overly friendly but not rude either. It seemed like the kind of place where the service should reflect small town charm and should be really warm and welcoming, but it wasn’t. Out of everything we ordered, the brussel sprouts were the best. They were fantastic. The margarita pizzas were pretty good, the grilled cheese was tasty (however with the number of cheeses I did expect there would be a thicker and more gooey amount of cheese like some other gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches we’ve had though), and the chicken fried steak sandwich was also ok. We wouldn’t hurry back, but might stop again sometime to try something else.

We decided to do a family meet up. Some family coming from Houston some from San Antonio. The issue is about 4 people are gluten free. We found Garden Co. Not only did they have options they also were very accommodating. Our waitress was amazing. The food was awesome. We really enjoyed our visit. The restaurant, nursery and gift shop were beautiful as well.

Had lunch today, which was our second visit. First time was back in 2018 when we were out on a day trip looking at the local painted churches. Both visits were outstanding, and the high review ratings are well-earned. Yes, the Brussel sprouts appetizer is totally worth it, even if you don't think you like such a thing. I had the gourmet grilled cheese sandwich with an outstanding chutney and Dijon mustard to go with it. My wife had the fish tacos, which were awesome and extremely filling. The Mexican street fries that came with them had an awesome spice mix on them. Last quality test: The ice tea. In our experience, you can often tell whether a place is going to be good just based on its tea. This cafe has outstanding, strong ice tea. Bonus! Cool venue, excellent food, and great service across the board. Highly recommended.

Hidden gem!! We were passing through from SanAntonio to Houston and stopped for a quick bite which turned into awe and plans to return in the future. This place has so much charm and character, farm to table food selections, an incredible wine list with Caymus included, a garden, shops, in house whipped cream to die for, staff that does not show a wink of stress and exudes hospitality at its finest!!! I have been told this started as a gardening center with plants galore and they added the cafe only 3 years ago. Now there is a future location opening in Round Top. Please say hi to the property cat named Cricket that roams free. Our server was Lela (Lee lah) and she worked multiple tables with ease and a smile on her face. May I recommend the Brie & Riesling Fruit Chutney appetizer!! Perfection. The house made bread pudding & chocolate mousse cake with that house made whip leave your taste buds in shock. Flawless. Everything was amazing from the ambiance, service, menu, staff and shop selection! If you are debating a visit, let this be your sign to get to the Garden Co. Cafe asap, nestle into your table in the corner and let a wonderful experience begin. You’re welcome.Parking: We came for a Saturday lunch during spring break with many a traveler! There was plenty of parking in the gravel lot and some even found a spot on the roadside. There will be a place for you!Kid-friendliness: Not only kid but also family friendly and pet friendly with an entire outdoor section! There is a kids menu available.

We love The Garden Co. Cafe. Drove 45 minutes out of our way to stop here for a late lunch. I don’t think you could find anything on the menu to not enjoy. My kids love the burgers. Their salads are filling and delicious. The Farmer Fred Burger is amazing. The desserts are worth breaking your diet for. Try this place you won’t regret it!

The food at Garden Company never disappoints. The Lamb burger is so delicious. Cooked to perfection, fresh, and topped with creamy goat cheese. Ugh. Obsessed. Today we tried the BBQ chicken pizza and it was yummy! I was really impressed with the flavor combination of the BBQ sauce and cilantro. The red onion helped to cut the richness of the sauce and cheese and it was just delightful. I do have to say, however, that we showed up at 2:30pm (they close at 3) and we were not really treated the best. They were not very hospitable, trying to rush us, not really giving us the level of service that we have gotten in the past when we visit.

Stopped here on the way to San Antonio for work. Very charming restaurant with a good selection of food. I opted for the pizza and it was pretty tasty. The interior is so cute and you can even shop in the garden outside. I gave this place 4 stars because the staff was not friendly. No one ever came to my table to see if the food was okay or if I ever needed a refill (and my cup was empty). It wasn’t until I asked for a check they asked if I wanted a refill. But I would give them another try! Might have just been an off day for the crew…

Recently moved to the area from Katy and decided to try this beautiful place. It was *chefs kiss* Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the food was incredible. The bacon wrapped chicken bites with that glaze...WOW!!! The sweet potatoes on my husbands plate didn't last long because I personally devoured them. Never had such incredible sweet potatoes and now I must figure out how to recreate such delectable flavor. Even the guests surrounding us could tell I was in heaven. Definitely coming back! I've been needing a place just like this for date nights or family lunch. My husband said he was too full for dessert but somehow that bread pudding sucked us both in and it did not disappoint. Pretty sure we will become regulars here! The staff was so sweet. 100/10 recommend

Saw the reviews and it made us turn around from an intended stop to come here. Outside of the building the garden beautiful! The ambiance was magnificent. A very friendly hostess seated us; but, the server approached rushed and seemed aggravated. She didn't say hello, she didn’t introduce yourself, she just said, “what can I get you to drink.”She seemed aggravated and annoyed by anything we asked...even when asking if there were any flavored teas. While we waited I went to the restrooms which were dirty. My husband ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which was delicious! The kid’s burger my son got was really too big for a child but was great tasting. I didn’t like the kettle chips that are served in place of your regular fries for two reasons 1) they’re seasoned but that's not in the description 2) the price...for the price you're paying something more substantial is warranted.I ordered the chicken salad sandwich which was dripping with watery taste and overly sweet. When I expressed I didn’t like it & tried to explain, she got really upset and snapped, “so you want anything else?” I was sad because we were on a Father’s Day trip we’re trying to find a cute little place to enjoy a lunch that we might possibly return to. The nursery was beautiful.

This unexpected gem in rural Texas (along an endless stretch of I-10) was a Giant thrill—the food, the service, the ambiance, the decor—WOW! Sophisticated, yet down-to-earth, with old-fashioned hospitality from the very cordial owner, and wonderful food. The decor is right up my wife’s alley so she took way too many pictures and thoroughly enjoyed herself and a delicious Moscato too. I had one of the best burgers Ever and my Sweetie had the chicken wraps. She ended up sharing a bit with me and they were super tasty (at least as good as PF Chang’s if you’re a fan). Unfortunately we got there too late to tour the garden center and gift shop, so plan ahead if you can to have enough time to check the whole place out. If the rest of it is anything like the restaurant, you will Not be disappointed. This place is one of those gems that make I-10 worth suffering through—it would fit right in in any college town USA but chooses to remain gift to food-loving, gorgeous decor-appreciating long-empty-highway-through-Texas travelers. Can’t thank you enough, Garden Co! 🌺🦋🌺

This is a G.E.M. of a spot in Schulenberg! Not only is the food amazing, but loved the atmosphere and aesthetics in a quaint modern farmhouse style old house with eclectic chairs, fresh flowers on the table and a view of the nursery. Hubby loved the Farmer Fred Kobe burger with fried egg, ham, and bacon. I was super impressed with my Grilled Chicken Taziki Salad (moistest, most flavorful chicken ever!) Hubby got the popular Pecan Bread pudding that was the best he's ever had! Also, service was wonderful and we enjoyed the nursery and gift shop. So glad we decided to have lunch here while driving through Schulenberg!

What a treat to find this delicious restaurant in Schulenburg, Texas! Reservations highly suggested. The menu is more along the lines of something that you would find in a very upscale restaurant in Dallas, Austin, or in the Heights in Houston. Delicious food, served with a smile and a great appreciation. Generous wine servings, mimosas, and craft beers. The menu will please meet eaters, vegan, vegetarian, and kids! Comfortable surroundings, great food, small-town atmosphere, how can you go wrong? See for yourself and enjoy! By the way, the homemade Italian cream cake is worth every single calorie! Absolutely phenomenal.

My partner described the steak as "magical". He's not a big red meat fan but he loved this one. He ate the salad which he loved and ate every last bit. The brie chutney was amazing. My partner asked why we can't eat here more often. It's pricey, that's why. It's worth every penny on date night :)

Great surprise out in Schulenburg. Awesome locaction & setting merge for a unique experience of great food. Kobe beef burgers were excellent as was the potatoe wedges but the mini Korean tacos reign supreme. We'll return just for those tacos. Nice grounds to enjoy table service or just coffee or wine but we chose the ice-cold inside table service.

Dad ate chicken salad sandwich, I ate pepperoni pizza.Food was ok. Pizza sauce tasted like straight tomato with nothing added, cheese was ok, pepperoni's were ok, crust was chewy not stiff, but it was cooked so whatever. Chicken salad only tasted like mayonnaise and chicken. Couldn't taste cranberries. Fresh tomato and lettuce on there. Could have used nuts and celery. Both meals were better with red pepper added. Chips were crumbly.Bland experience, ok for road trip, wouldn't go again.Cool aesthetic. We sat in the back room. Moose typewriter.Wait staff was nice, but service was a little slow.Single bathrooms. Clean.

Very good!! The service was great, atmosphere was relaxing and the food Very yummy! After starting my day in Lockhart wanting to taste their barbecue, I needed something light, but also uniquely delicious traveling home to Houston. This veggie pizza with pesto sauce was exactly what I needed! Leftovers are on my fridge to enjoy later.... I will definitely be back. I'm wanting to try the Burger next.
