We walked in and immediately felt like I was walking back in time. It's a wonderful looking dance hall with lasting dining tables and a stage for performances. It's antique atmosphere really made me excited to look around and check the whole place out. We came in on Sunday morning. There was no menu. Just a plate of the day for $12.99, which was fried chicken, beans, rice, chips with melted cheese on top, enchilada pie and dessert which was a cinnamon pastry. The beans, chips and chicken were okay. The rice was plain and the enchilada pie lacked flavor. No spice. Maybe that's how the town likes it. But I'm mexican and need more than just salt and pepper. The cinnamon pastry was delicious. Not to sugary but it did stick to my fingers which made it finger-licking good. They have a nice sized bar when you walk in and a variety of beers and cocktails. It was too early for me to start drinking but the menu looks interesting. We didn't come during a time when they had someone in stage so I can't comment on that. But the bathrooms were clean and the sign that read "Employees must wash hands. Customers should too." made me chuckle. The whole eating area was also kept clean and I didn't see a single gnat or bug in the place. Interesting place, not such flavorful food, for me at least. But if you have a sensitive taste pallet, you might like eating here.

Yummm Lunch with family11.5.2023 Sunday. 1 st Day. Standard Time.As soon as we entered, Mark greeted us.. the Guy in the Black shirt. He let us know they serve one Lunch Special.. ToDay. Look at the picture of the chalkboard with all that this Special included.There was so much food on our plates and it was all very good. This is not a fast food place. It's a great place to sit back and take it easy before having a meal.This made a great meeting place that is between Houston, my drive, and San Antoino, my daughters drive. Thank you. We will meet again ~> Here 🤣🤣🤣✌️🤟🌊

Overall this was a nice dinner with the family. We were on our way to Houston and wanted a home cooking experience.We had a couple salads and a cheese pizza. The salads were really fresh and flavorful. The pizza was just ok l. The crust was doughy and a little thick for my taste.The service was excellent but the live music made it challenging to communicate. It was a tad too loud for the venue.If we loved here this would probably be a regular place for us but probably wouldn't go out of our way to eat here again. Glad we stopped in once though.

No idea why this place isn’t anything less than 5-stars! Headed from SATX to Lake Conroe, we intentionally decided to stop in Schulenburg when most other night drive through along I-10 paying it no mind. Don’t!Stop and try this place. The history, hospitality, atmosphere and food will blow you away. We had a conversation with the waitress for 15-minutes after we were done eating preparing to leave. 100% recommend!

Coming from Houston, we loved "meeting in the middle" with our family-members who live in San Antonio. We didn't realize that there is a set lunch option on Sundays. Even though the food was good, I wasn't really in the mood for Mexican that day. The food came out lukewarm. I'd like to visit again not on a Sunday because the menu looks very interesting and I want to visit the cool hardware store next door.

Very adorable establishment. It is very much a country home cooking meal with small town feel and great service. On Sunday they don't have a full menu but a standard plate which was fried chicken, chicken parm with noodles, carrots and also included a kale salad for 12.99. All of the food tasted amazing and tasted like momma sure did make it herself. All of it tasted freshly made and theyvhabd picked the vegetables out of their vegetable garden.

We went on a quiet Sunday noontime when they offer a plated dinner. So no other choices which surprised us but made ordering easy!The meal was fried chicken, a smothered pork chop, real mashed potatoes, sauteed veggies, and a simple dessert. Plenty of food and a flavorful, homestyle meal.There was a talented musician for background music in an old time atmosphere. Very relaxing.

Wow, what an amazing place. The food was great, but you come here for everything else. The staff was incredibly friendly and told us all about the saloon and it’s story. The history that fills this place is truly special. A MUST visit. Can’t wait to come back and see a show.

It was out first time in Shulenburg and we needed something to eat. It was Sunday so not many places were open so we ended up here. From outside it looks like an abandoned building but from inside is totally different vibe. The entrance and the dining hall is designed from that era. It looks like time has stoped here. They greeted us right away and offered the Sunday buffet. We agreed and it was delicious! The cheesecake was the bomb and the whole meal tasted so homemade. The ambiance, the music and overall great experience. Definitely a must stop when in town.

Sorry guys, but the pizza dough was previously frozen and the toppings for the price were ridiculous. It tasted just like Chuck E. Cheese pizza. I’m sure the other foods might be better but for a large 2 topping Chuck E. Cheese pizza I’m sorry I’ll pass on the next one. Atmosphere was great had a singer and all with a happy crowd. Thanks Sengelmann but no thanks pizza was no good.

If you are passing through drive a little bit further into downtown Schulenburg and try this gem out. The food is fantastic, they have something for everyone. I got the schnitzel, father in law got a burger, kids got pizza. It was all very fresh and delicious.The staff is very friendly and the service was great. This is a great halfway point to visit in between San Antonio and Houston.Update - wish I could add an extra star! Everything is very good here and they really work hard to make sure you have a great experience. By the time we left the place was full and they got everything just right. We asked for lemonade for the kiddos, they don't carry it but they made some fresh anyway. Who does that nowadays?! Hope they keep doing doing very well. Thank you, we will be back!

This place popped up in Schulenburg as a German restaurant, it was close to my stopping point and had food reviews. Arrived at 8pm and there was maybe 15 people. The old building is perfect for a German Haus with long tables, aged wood and a stage. The first thing I noticed was that it was not a true German restaurant with only a couple of German recipes and then hamburger, sandwiches, chicken fried steak ect. I ordered the chicken schnitzel that was supposed to have lemon butter sauce per the menu on Google. The menu was changed and it was too dark to take pictures of. Instead I got a sour cream sauce. Everyone who was there when I came in already had their food. Another single and the a group of five came in a few minutes after me. Fifteen minutes after ordering and the server apologized that it was taking longer than usual. Thirty minutes and everyone else had already gotten theirs and she apologized again and said the printer wasn't working and had not printed my order. Of course, everyone else's went through. One hour plus and I'm getting up to leave when she comes out with my plate. The schnitzel was very crisp and thin but as you see on the pic there was almost no sauce.10 minutes to get the extra sauce. The sauce tasted like watered down sour cream and the schnitzel needed seasoning. I had squash and green beans that were good. The chicken was mostly thin with just a little thickness on the end. When I reached the end I realized the chicken was close to raw. It's now been an hour and a half. I showed the server the chicken and she went to talk to the manager in the kitchen. Once again she apologized. 10 minutes later she came back and said they were not charging me for my tea and would get may check. 10 minutes later, well you get the idea. While the server was sincere and nice apologizing she was totally disinterested in the job doing nothing to speed the process. Not recommended, sadly.

We drove over to Schulenburg on a Sunday to enjoy some comfort food. I must have missed that only the Sunday plate serving is offered on Sundays. Nothing to gripe about but I was looking forward to their burgers or pizza options. For a little over $12 we each got a large plate of fried chicken, pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and a side of squash casserole, plus a small bowl of okra and tomatoes. All of it was warm and delicious. I couldn't finish my plate but i had help polishing off the mashed potatoes. The venue is large and beautiful. When I asked if they held private events there, I was invited to tour the dance hall above the restaurant. It's a large area with a stage and seating. I would definitely return to try their everyday menu and possibly enjoy a night of dancing.

C'MON! THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE TO GET A PROPER COCKTAIL & Steak in the Area!!! Every cocktail or drink I have ever had here, remained consistent.....which as a former mixologist is important! Also very affordable here! 🔪🥐🍕🥗🥩JOSH H., the chef .. rocks!!!🍸🥃🍺🍹 Kim is always looking great & working hard bartending and running drinks all over as well. The staff always stops to say hi, no matter where you are and the operating manager Garret , Well hes the ring leader. Not just for Sengalmann Hall, Our whole community is appreciative of the hard work to keep such an Awesome place for us all to go ALIVE!!AOH THE Pizza IS FREAKING Amazing too🤘Great dishes, historic hall for hosting any events, and an AMAZING CHEF! Great ambiance, outside patio/ beer garden. Lovely music and friendly staff.

Traveling Through and staying at The Schulenburg RV Park....Placed a Delivery order last Night. It was Delivered by Kim And she Told us our Pizza had been paid for from a Customer in the Restaurant!! Thank you Very Much! We Gave Kim a good tip....it was A Delicious Pizza!

We had my mother’s 90th birthday here and we had a gathering of relatives and friends. Garrett and his staff were absolutely fantastic. The food which we preordered off his catering menu before the event was delicious and consisted of pork schnitzel with german potatoes and cole slaw. We also had some delicious veggie lasagne with rolls. This was prepared buffet style and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend this place in a historic building with so much character as it will not disappoint.
