Great place to get MTG cards both singles and sealed. Decent board game selection too.Player base is too try hard for my tastes though. I prefer more casual play.

Me and a friend from out of town stumble into this shop. The guys there were very welcoming and tge store was bigger than what I anticipated. They have different events on different nights. Nice hidden gem in Sam Marcos. Would recomend to stop by and check out the shop.

Alpha Strike has a friendly staff and an impressive selection of product! The space is clean and organized making it a fun shopping and browsing experience. I originally came to purchase some deck boxes for EDH and was surprised by the variety of product offerings and prices. The $9.99 price of their BCW prism 100ct deck boxes was better than online retailers after factoring in shipping costs. The location is easily accessible. The bike lane runs directly along their storefront and there are bike racks just around the corner on Cheatham Street. All in all, I enjoyed my experience here and look forward to patronizing this local business in the future.

The Store's online "cart" didn't work for me.I couldn't pay with my credit card, I even brought my laptop in to the store to try the "pay in store" option which wouldn't work either.Was trying to order over 300 MTG cards, wound up wasting three and a half hours.

Their website only lists cards, but I felt pretty confident I could pick up a hex field game mat here. They had the mat AND minis! The minis were especially well priced at about 5 per 2 pack, even buying used on eBay runs nearly double that. This was our second visit and we've picked up YGO boosters to crack each time 🙂

Great shop, good Selection, and if you order singles these guys will fulfill your orders and have them ready for pick up super quick.Warning though if you are looking for actual casual commander play, you won't find it at the shop. I've been to the shop for a couple months now to play commander and I've only had one good experience.

Guys at the register and the guy with the extra long fingernails kept touching my 100+$ card they unsleeved, then left it unsleeved while they worked and very nearly placed an ipad on it. Left a disgusting smudge on my dragon sleeve.That card had been unpacked with gloves and placed directly into a double sleeve. I'm going to try and sell on TCG player and get 50$ more than they offered, then eat $20 in shipping confirmation and still come out 30$ ahead. But now I'm worried I've got what the heck was on that guys hands all over my previously pristine card. Disgusting and really just fitting the stereotype of people that make the hobby unenjoyable.And their response is hilarious. Ignoring the issue of residue but not denying it, and them leaving the card unsleeved then almost damaging it. Very immature and glad I’ve resolved to tell people to go elsewhere when possible.Also TCG Player was the way to go👍

This place while small, is full of heart and has a great community backing it. From weekly events to just the every day games, there's always someone willing to try and teach you the game their playing. Other reviews are spoiled by modern customer service expectations of always talking to customers when the majority of their product is in front of their face and priced. Even willing to go through 5 o'clock traffic to get there for a couple of games!

Great card shop! I only started getting into mtg a few months ago and staff here have always been very helpful in answering my questions about sets and merchandise. I try to stop by a couple times a week and pick up some packs or orders. Orders for singles made late in the day are almost always ready for pickup by open time the next business day. Prices are fair and I am overall satisfied with spending my money here.

The selection and pricing are amazing, I can find MTG packs from the early 2010s for great prices and that alone is worth stopping in.The only issue I've had might be because I'm a femme but the 3x I've been in, no one in the store has addressed me. No one spoke to me until I had to ask for a couple of packs of cards. They were chatting with their friends or doing stocking behind. The counter and I never got so much as a "Welcome in!"I took my masc presenting partner in, this week, and they still didn't really talk to us as we entered or shopped around but did finally ask my partner if they could help with anything.I'll still always stop in for the great selection, but if talking shop about cards and decks is something you're interested in, as a femme presenting person, this isn't the place.

Great little hobby shop that has mostly card games and collectables. Personally I play the Magic: the Gathering card game and this store's inventory is one of the largest in the area. I drive from Austin to check out their inventory and play some games when I can.Staff are nice and communicative. All trading card singles buy/sell orders are done through their website using the BinderPOS app. The nice thing about this app is that it accurately keeps track of their stock, so I don't have to ask about singles they might not have.Only complaint I have would be to replace the table mats since they are getting a bit grimey.

First time I walked in their's a decent amount of staff and great used console and gaming selection I may get a ps4 when I get paided. Also just one thing the staff didn't even say anything to me or ask if I need help finding anything that's the one thing I thought was weird. I'm from Austin and the sanctuary card shop south Austin was my spot till I moved here so hope to come to like the alpha strike games next time I come throu maybe play some magic

Fair prices and more importantly great customer service and a whole lot of knowledge! It helps when your nine year old wants a really nice Pokemon and you have no clue whats a good buy or not. The store owner Russ is someone ive leaned on for such questions. Top notch place!

A decent stop stop for ccg and board games enthusiasts. The last couple times we’ve been though, there’s been a bad smell and the staff was not the friendliest, insisting I use the website to order cards that are in the cabinet. Then let another customer get cards without using the website.

If you are into card collecting there is no other option in San Marcos! The deals they offer and the selection they have beats out any big chain in the area. Must stop by here, even just to check it out!!

There are few shops that have a more diverse stock or as welcoming for new tcg players as Alpha Strike games. I have never had an issue with staff, website, etc. This is the best local game shop in texas.

I was working in San Marcos and thought I’d check to see if any of the cards I couldn’t find in Austin were in stock. Alpha Strike had the cards I was looking for AND some really neat stuff to look at in the case. They got me in and out on my lunch break which was awesome! Hope to swing by sometime and play a few hands seemed like a great space.

My son and I dropped in to check it out, the guy at the counter was busy but super nice. We bought Super Monkeyball 2 for the Game Cube. We loved the space! I read some reviews one thing that might help is to have a PC there on the counter set to your website for people to look up prices on their own. We will be back

Entering here after looking for a specific book. Stumbled upon an MTG tournament so there was a good amount of people there. While they did not have the book I wanted, everyone was extremely friendly and its easy to tell that the owner cares about the stores appearance. Also fair warning, there is an adorable puppy that walks around as well. All in all walked out with some information on where to look next and the ability to pet one more dog.

Some friends and I noticed the shop and decided to drop in as we play various tcgs and collect cards. Staff seemed disinterested in engaging with us and weren’t very helpful. Friend asked the price of a card on display and the employee told him to download an app and “look it up”.Aside from that the store had a decent selection. Wouldn’t go spend my money there though. Didn’t feel at home.

I like people in other reviews didnt get so much as a hello. They did have music playing loudly and were singing along. The who submit a buy list and then pick out cards to get on their website is silly. Ive been to card shops larger than this one who had 1 person working and was able to pull cards or name prices. And they fulfill orders for people who arent there. So that excuse that there is only 2 people there. Ill order from online card stores or drive to San Antonio instead of using this store.

Superb game store that treats the customer first. Alpha strike is well managed and well organized game store that promotes fun play experiences in a variety of fashions from card games to D&D, board games and even retro video games. No matter your gaming need this place has it at a competitive rate.I played here nearly weekly during my time at TXST and I still try my best to pop in when I’m in town visiting.5/5

Absolutely wonderful shop. The owner is great, and even though I don't come in often he always remembers my name and is super helpful. The shop has a good selection of cards, and everything is kept organized very well. There's usually a format played every day(which is great if you can't always make Friday nights). The actual players there are really friendly and nice, even if they're competitive. Definitely worth a visit.

Man. What a cool store. Nice people running the joint. Great prices. The vibe is very familiar and cozy, not enough stores like this in the world. I went there for games, but the CCG setup was excellent as well. Definitely gonna pop back in anytime I run through San Marcos looking for gems.

Its a cool place with a good variety of Pokemon products which is really all I’m ever looking for. They have a great selection of graded Pokemon as well but -1 star because they are completely overpriced. I get they need to make a profit but theyre 40-50% above market.
