This is a tiny bookstore in The Pearl with reasonable hours. They have a big kid section, lots of knickknacks, cute gift cards, Pearl merch, and a small selection of every category. I like that no one bugs me or follows me around the store. This isn't a fun place to visit during the weekends because you can barely move, but if you can visit during their quiet hours it's really nice to take your time looking at everything. They are always having authors visit so keep an eye out for that. They are excellent at carrying local authors.

The Twig has a really good selection for how small their space is! I've found good literary fiction there, I've also found graphic novels and I even know people who've found some manga there if you're into that. The atmosphere is nice and there's lots of stuff nearby, it's a good store.

I haven’t visited this bookstore in a while but it’s still just as small and cute as it was before. I went on Sunday and a lot of the customers were having a good time so it gave it a really nice vibe. They have a good selection of books from fiction to manga and more.

Good book store… but why close so early? You all are ALWAYS closed when we come to the Pearl!

I called The Twig for help putting together a birthday gift package for my mother who lives in San Antonio (I do not). The staff member, Reign, went above and beyond even doing a video call to show me all the wonderful things in the store. She assembled a beautiful gift package to celebrate my mom and I look forward to thanking them in person when I am next in San Antonio. So grateful for bookstores like The Twig and the fabulous people who run them.

So many great reasons this locally owned & operated bookseller has been around for almost 50 years! Currently located at the former Pearl Brewery on the new Museum Reach of the Riverwalk

We got looked down at and the cashier followed us with her eyes. We were told to leave the drink at the counter. Heck no !We came in from Houston for the weekend. Definitely didn’t feel welcomed. Probably not going back. Btw it was around 2:30PM- you never know who’s going to come in to the store.

I always seem to find a bookstore when I'm on vacation, even when I'm not looking for one. This place is a gem and everything you'd want in a book store. Places like this make me pay full price just to support their business, even if I can find the book cheaper on Amazon. LOVE THEM.

Cute little bookstore. My baby girl instantly found her selection and say down to read a little before we bought it. Lots of other little knicknacks that are reasonably priced.

Adorable little shop. Terrible in busy days as the layout is prone to congestion. I hope to return when I can shop comfortably. Store was clean and the attendant was pleasant. Seems like the collection is fun and well curated, but due to the crowd, I only had space to explore YA and childrens. Here's a photo of an adorable YA book I discovered.

Great little bookshop tucked away in the trendy Pearl District. They offer a great variety of non fiction and fiction, as well as a fantastic selection of Texas history books. Plus, you can have books shipped anywhere in the US.

When we showed up, the store was packed with folks looking at books, knickknacks and more. There was a farmers market in the open area outside, and that was clearly stimulating the business! Even with the crowd, we were able to check out quickly. The shop itself had about 1/4 of its space devoted to children. It had a fairly large board book selection for the size of the store. That’s the only section I shopped, but i did notice an entire area dedicated to Texas. I would be interested in going back during a lull to shop more of the store.

The store itself was very nice, but the customer service was… something else. As I was checking out, about 30 minutes ago, I watched as a cashier asked the individual in front of me if they were a teacher, probably based on his purchase of a small pile of children’s books. Her coworker interrupted her to ask why she didn’t feel the need to ID a teacher in order to provide a teacher’s discount, then proceeded to say that she always asked to see a military ID when a veteran’s discount is requested. She clearly made her coworker and the teacher in question very uncomfortable, and the teacher even tried to say that he didn’t need the discount and would be fine without it. I checked out with her not long after that and I can’t describe my exchange with her as much better. I didn’t catch her name, and I normally don’t leave reviews, but I wasn’t comfortable just forgetting the exchange either.

funny how even in the reddest state in america people get bent out of shape with one tiny little bookstore that doesn't pander to the Trumps. this place is super cool and has an excellent collection of all kinds of authors. If you are being truthful, the section of overtly non-trumpian viewpoints is small. But If you don't like it, please keep walking, no one will notice. but please don't slam a local business for your own ego boost.

There's something incredible about small book shops in crowded markets. Loved it, this shop has the best feels, and unique books! Not your standard- NY Times best sellers. Local writers and all sorts. Kids books too!! Loved it!

Decided to visit for some Christmas gifts. There were some excellent choices in books that I have not seen elsewhere. I bought two books as gifts for friends and a few unique cards for use for later. I enjoyed watching an employee reading to young children in a sitting area outside. Great place that needs to be supported!

The Twig is where I like to go on my birthday. I've been a great fan of this store since it was The Red Balloon on Broadway, and the move to the Pearl has made it even better. As for the mask policy, I deeply appreciate that they mean what they say, listen to the words of clear authorities, and keep their store as virus-free as humanly possible. "In Texas, we don't have to wear masks" is hardly a justifiable reason to be offended, especially for anyone who actually reads.Bravo to the Twig. Keep up the great work, and thank you for making such a beautiful, eclectic, curiosity-inspiring, idea-flowing hub for artists, writers, readers, and thinkers.

Cute bookstore, but far too many overtly political books on front and center display. Please allow me to enjoy my love of reading WITHOUT shoving your ideologies down my throat...

Small, well-curated book store in the heart of the Pearl District. Perfect amount and variety of knick-knacks, like post-it notes, bookmarks, and writing utensils. Small, vibrant children’s section. I also noticed some books that looked somewhat used on discount; a majority of them are new, though. If I lived here, I could see myself stopping here on the weekend and reading with a cup of coffee on one of the two plazas The Twig borders. Well done!

Cute bookstore! They have a very helpful staff and some great little unique gift items! I bought a waterproof deck of cards for a gift. I also loved the activities that they offer and the wide selection of books for a small space. It also is nice to support the mom & pop stores instead of the big box stores!!

I've visited Twig Book Shop several times now and always find it enjoyable to browse. The staff is very polite and appears to have a genuine affection for their work. Today they had a guest author doing book signings and a great selection of overstock and discounted books. A quaint little shop with big personality!
