Salty Fish Aquariums is a family-owned business. Terry and his family are friendly, knowledgeable and the nicest fish store proprietors in San Antonio. The store is beautiful and they have healthy, beautiful stock of fish. Terry also sells custom made tanks. I bought a 310G tank made to my specifications. Any questions you have regarding fish-keeping, Salty Fish Aquariums is the place to go. San Antonio is lucky to have them.

Been to this store twice now- it’s in a weird spot in town, but the location is perfect because it allows for a TON of space for tanks and fish and everything else needed! Love this store for their wood and rock selections-and at very comparable prices!

I have driven by the store many times and finally got a chance to go in. It is clean, inviting, a very enjoyable experience. You can tell that the owners love what they do and that they really enjoy talking to you about all of the different fish in the store, the different plants, they are amazing!Came in just to look around. Left with a couple new fish, a couple of new plants, some treats for my fish, And very happy!This is a local business that I am more than happy to support!

This place is awesome! Everyone I’ve met and spoken to has always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Great selection on everything and prices are very good to fair. They have also helped me with rehoming fish no problem! They offer all sorts of stuff and I’ll probably be checking out their terrarium classes as well. Definitely my go to shop in San Antonio!

We bought almost $300 of fish for established tank. First night cleaner shrimp died. By next morning damsel died. 2nd damsel just fine so far. All other fish in tank fine. Had fish in tank before purchase also. Business only wants give half credit for 2 that died. I asked for replacements and was told they weren’t responsible for dead ones it was probably our water. We WERE going to do all our fish, water and supply needs there. We would reconsider if they would replace the 2 and just make it right. 🙁.Thank u for reply. I waited calling as we were waiting on the royal and were supposed to be called Wednesday. So I reached out. I was not asked to bring bodies in as they were disposed of and I had pictures. Most places have some sort of replacement warranty . Rest of fish still fine by the way. Guy said when we paid for fish call in 2-3 days if we had any problems. Rest we had and those others purchased from y’all still fine so I don’t see how it can be blamed on our set up. Allot of money to pay to have dead fish. Just saying.

This place is a 1 man band same dude everytime you walk in. Never a crazy wait time he's polite and always engages in convo with everyone and know how to make people feel welcomed I do wish their selection was a bit better but can't complain too much I still find things lol

Knowledgeable staff helped me on my first venture with fish; from helping understand what type of fish get along, to properly taking care of vegetation. Everyone was quite friendly and passionate about fish, plus with such a large store there's quite the variety to suit your needs both fresh water and salt! If these guys don't have what you're looking for, good luck finding it!

Hello,My name is Joshua Sprouse, I was in your store last Saturday (1/09/21). I had purchased some beautiful Von Rios, Oto's, and a Pleco. I also was given store credit for donating some black platies! My experience there was amazing! The customer service was superb! Evelyn was super helpful and friendly and I really appreciated her tenacity on getting my fish, answering all my questions, and giving me the store credit for all my platies I had! I would recommend this store to anyone. Such great healthy tanks there ,and the facility was super clean. All the tanks looked really good, and I would definitely go hear again. I am thinking of getting sime Cardinal Tetras and more Otocinculus, and Panda Corys. I cant't think of any place other than Salty Fish Aquariums for all my Aquatic needs. The best looking fish in my aquarium are from Salty fish!! Everyone who looks at my tank automatically points out my OB peacocks and asks about them. They were healthy and are thriving and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The owners was super nice and took the time to make sure I got what I wanted. I can't wait to get morrrre!😂

Every time I think it can't be worse, maybe it was just a bad experience. But no, I've come to the realization that they are just preying on those who are new to the hobby. The conditions of their tanks and livestock are appalling, and their "knowledgeable" staff is no more than the owners son, who barely knows the basics and would rather touch himself than give you any help. They talk big and with confidence, but that doesn't mean they are correct. Do yourself a favor and go else where, they can't even commit to keeping dead fish out of the tanks. Let's not forget the "reptile" section that they paid someone to come and set up all those tanks just for them to still be empty and sitting there 5 years later. Why continue supporting these frauds?

I have been to many aquarium shops in San Antonio and I always wanted to visit this one and I had the chance to stop by about a month ago. The owners were friendly and professional. They had a good selection of freshwater and saltwater fish, the tanks and livestock are well taken care of. They had the Frontosas that I have been looking for and they are thriving in their new home. They have an awesome selection of driftwood and stone. I have always ordered my hardscape online, but now that I have seen what they have to offer I will buy my hardscape from these guys from now on. Thank you for a great experience!

I usually don’t write reviews but this business deserves it! I regret not knowing about this very educated and friendly store sooner. This is a wonderful and beautiful store with a lot of aquatic products. One can tell that they take care of everything they own. The first time I went in I was in absolute awe. I’m a saltwater tank beginner who encountered a few problems in my tank but instead of making me feel bad (which i already do) they made me feel better saying that this is a process and i’m learning. They educated me more and gave me steps to follow to control this situation. I am definitely making this as my go-to store from now on!!! thanks again guys!

I went in and was greeted at the door by Terry. He helped me with the things I needed and also took the time to answer the questions that I had about starting up my aquarium. He didn't rush me off to get to the next customer, and I appreciated that. I will be shopping there again real soon.

It's clean, fish seem happy and healthy, and they have ample variety from products to fish. I was a little disappointed with my interaction with the associate, though.I was looking for a Betta for my 4 year Olds first pet, and I had a set up. I have cared for fish and done some research, so I wasn't completely helpless, but I asked about things like water current, tank size, temperature, etc. In hopes of gaining further insight, and while he was VERY POLITE and kind....He didn't seem to offer much real help. Most of his answers consisted of..."it'll be fine" or "it doesn't matter really" and things along those lines, when I had already known several of these things do matter if you don't want your fish belly up in 2 months.Overall great spot if you already know what you're doing or what you need/want but in my limited experience I didn't get the more in depth help I was hoping for from a specialized aquarium place...I could have just gone to petsmart and let them tell me the same things. I can say that I WOULD RETUEN for the selection and variety, though.

A very nice fish store, with friendly and helpful staff. The store is pretty large, and well setup.Livestock was a little slim when I visited, but they have more than enough tanks to support a large selection.I thought that it was very cool that they have a special tank setup to house imperfect fish (may be missing an eye, damaged fins etc.).Great selection of hardscape both wood and stone with fair pricing.Definitely a fish store to check out if you're in the San Antonio area! 👍

There's a big variety of fish available. The husband who owns it is very sweet and personable. Be sure to have cash if you don't intend to spend a lot. I got a bit of sass bc I didn't. I get it.
