My wife and I remember Happy Trails when they first opened. We moved away for a while and recently came back to San Angelo. I wanted to go back since it has been several years. We popped in a couple of evenings ago to see if it was still the same as it was. For the most part it was until I went to go pay. The previous owners used to give military AND veteran discounts. Now it is only active duty. This, I feel, is very disrespectful. It says to a disabled veteran that you and your sacrifices didn't matter, but if you are in right now you matter. I know this is trivial, but the majority of small businesses support veterans and what we've been through. I just wish the new owners did the same.

I highly recommend getting your feet and ankles scanned before purchasing footwear. The staff is helpful and friendly. Great selection

Absolutely will not be back. We spent $172 on a jacket that was marked $149. After looking at the receipt we realized they had charged us $159 for the jacket. We took it back inside wanting a $10 refund. They said it was an easy fix but looked online at the retailers price beforehand which was $159. They refused to refund us despite it being their mistake. Aside from that their employees don’t know much about their products and their selection is never really good. No worries I’ll just buy the jacket from Prana.

I decided to visit Happy Trails to look for a new pair of hiking shoes, and while they had a nice selection, I didn't find a brand that I was familiar with or a suitable price. The staff was friendly enough. and they had a nice inventory of pretty much everything you would need. including Osprey packs, just not the one I was looking for. So, I think I'm going to stay with REI for my outdoor needs.

Staff is attentive and friendly, which has been virtually non existent since moving to Texas from New Hampshire. Selection was good. Return policy is iffy, though. May want to rethink that move when it comes to upset customers.

Nice staff. Clean store. Cool stuff. A little more pricey than I like but I'm wrapped around this girl's finger, the one that calls me dad, so I bought here a shirt. I have a feeling I will be buying more stuff for her at this store.

Happy trails went out of their way to find the exact kayak that I was looking for. They even went and picked it up and brought it back to their store for me. I will be picking it up on September the fifth. Their customer service is beyond the five-star limit. Not to mention all the goodies they have in stock at the store. Top quality merchandise, super friendly staff and knowledgeable salespersons.

~ Great place for outdoor gear ~We were checking out kayaks in the San Angelo area & Happy Trails had a great variety in stock. The lady who helped us asked what type of recreation we were interested in, she was very knowledgeable in the features that would suit us best. Headed out now to find some water!

Happy Trails is a great, one of a kind store in San Angelo. The outdoor lifestyle community is growing in SA, and HT and its staff are there to outfit our growing needs. I love how I can bring my dog in there and get lost talking with the staff, or looking at the newest equipment. This alone makes it a great store, but the owners are great supporters of local events and they're helping build a strong community.

Pricey and inventory similar to that of R.E.I. The staff was courteous and helpful. I didn't buy anything on my visit to them..but perhaps I will next time. I would recommend them even if the prices are a bit higher than I would expect.
