I recently visited the store to purchase some shoes. Overall, I found some great options. I was highly disappointed when checking out. I asked about a first responder discount, which I have received before at Academy. I was told bluntly and rudely, “We don’t offer a first responder discount at THIS time of year”. It is almost nurse’s week….I still purchased two pairs of shoes, but extremely upset about this interaction. Academy DO better, especially for those who have purchased items from you for 15+ years.

I love Academy! The sales are great and the staff is always helpful. I can usually find what I need and get out easily.My husband is a big fan of all of the fishing gear there as well!Occasionally there is a long line or 2 but they will add cashiers up front and speed things along to get everyone checked out quicker.

We entered, looking for snow goggles or anything ski or snowboarding related. As soon as we entered we went to the help desk and asked if they had any of those things. We were told no, which was the literal truth. And he went on to say, apologetically, that all of their winter items had been pulled and everything was now summer related. We decided to look around anyway in the hopes that we would find something. It was a good thing because they were having 40-75% off sales on all winter clothing, including shoes. 😍 🤩. There were coats, sweaters, hoodies, warm pants, thick socks, winter boots, waterproof boots, hats and caps to keep heads warm. All things worn while skiing, snowboarding, and enjoying a winter snow vacation. 🤔. We found lovely gifts for our birthday man. He was very happy with both gifts. As we left, we were stopped by an employee and asked if we had a good shopping experience. We both told him yes indeed. We got some really good items at an awesome price. I then told him about the person who told us that there were no winter items here, only summer items. The guy was very standoffish and borderline rude. I told him, we almost left, and they would have lost a $50 sale. He just shrugged and replied, You didn't. 😠. That was rude.

Our favorite, go-to sporting goods store! Always a great selection! From sports, to recreations, to clothing, etc. we can always find what we need here. A reason that we enjoy this location is because the employees are friendly and the inventory stays well-stocked. Tonight, we came to Academy to get my son ready for baseball season- it was a very busy day! However, Alyssa was happy and helpful with sizing my son's shoes and helped us find the right pair of cleats that were perfect for him. The employee at the cash register was very friendly, personable and even entertained my son with a few magic tricks. Super cool, super friendly, always coming back!

Very good place for all your sporting needs. I grab all my weights from here. 45 the Olympic bar the weight locks. Curl bar punching bag thanks academy summer trim down. Stress relief 😌. Today purchase just a lock some new balance and sleeve from the sun when I'm working outside.

Of course they have the usual hunting/fishing/camping/sports equipment stuff, but I found out they are also stocking lightweight khaki pants and some polo style shirts. Good prices if you stick to store brands and not out of line for name brands.

Great selection and prices are always good compared to other sporting goods stores. The staff is helpful and pleasant. Bonus points for happening in during a massive clearance!

For being academy I was pretty surprised at how unorganized most of the store was , almost every isle was dirty, unorganized, and mixed match products that truly did not belong in that area ( example toys were placed with gym equipment?) So you had A lot of small children throwing weights around !?!! .. hard to find employees.. and the store is very dark ! Very gloomy! Many packages were beaten, bent , or broken. Barbell packages were all torn , tried to lift 1 for purchase the entire thing went straight to my foot ! Not just 1 package but most of them. When you do get to see an employee they walk over the mess, and completely ignore the fact that it can cause someone an accident.* dirty * unorganized * sloppy isles * no employees around * dark / minimal lighting * lack of products * damaged products in many departments.. to disappointed to keep taking pics.

I purchased 4 stop watches, brings 3 to me at curbside then takes 2 because they screwed up and wants me to go inside to purchase the other two that I’ve already purchased online. Your mess up isn’t my inconvenience because you can’t count to three.

I had the worst experience ever in my life tonight at the Academy store on IH35 in Round Rock. I was racially profiled by the manager Chris. I went to purchase a shotgun for a Christmas present to myself. I have never been in trouble in my life and I worked at TDC facility for 7 years where I carried a shotgun and a 38 pistol. The manager Chris was rude and talked to me so badly and refuse to sell me the gun. He didn’t give a clear reason and when asked for understanding he was soooo rude speaking and would not answer or explain clearly why I couldn’t purchase the gun. I left shaking and upset because I have never experienced anything like this. I will never, my family will never, my friends will never shop at Academy again!!!

Maurice searched the stockroom for the right size which was super helpful! Sierra price matched Amazon and have me the military discount which saved me $17. This is the type of customer service that sets Academy Sports above its competitors. I highly encourage military and 1st Responders to shop during the month of May while Academy Sports is offering a 10% discount.

Everytime I go to this location there's always 2 checkouts that are open, with a 15 to 20 min wait to checkout.Went in on 12-10-2022 to get a 40oz Hydro Flask thermos. Walked up to the register area to see once again only 2 registers open with a 12 person line for each register. This isn't Black Friday folks.Looked on Amazon while in the store, found the same thermos for $7 cheaper and purchased it.That's how you lose sales Academy.

Well stocked store with a variety of options and prices to choose from. Associates are courteous and willing to answer questions one thing that I noticed at busy times is that 2 were posted at each dressing rooms retrieving merchandise and keeping track of which rooms were empty to expediently direct customers waiting to use them. Overall a very good experience

Yet they were on display. Just this pair. Not even the box. But if you like them and the price try online or another store. But... be patient, they may be understaffed as well.

Last time I gave them a 1* for bad service and lying to customers. This time was a little better. Bought a heavy bag stand never offered to help even tho they asked someone else if they needed help with something smaller.. Great equipment I must say.

Academy is always my first choice for sports shoes. And they usually have good service. Today, one of the guys at the counter was extra,,,lol. He was trying to get people to register for the Academy credit card. There was nothing wrong with that, but the way he was doing it was ridiculous. He was talking way too fast, and no one couldn't understand a word he was saying. People behind me were going to other registers because they didn't want to deal with him. I know the company pushes them to sell sell sell, but come on,,,he was enjoying it. I didn't understand anything all the time, and I know for sure if I see him next visit, I'll move to the other registers for sure. Other than that, everything else at Academy is worthy.

I got an unexpected surprise when I was purchasing 2 new pairs of shoes. The shoes I wanted were on clearance so they were going to be $35 of which was a good deal then I get to the register and they rang up 50%off the clearance price. So I got 2 for the price of 1.
