I believe that my dog was well cared for, however, no report card was provided. We have very recently lost our other dog, and this one has not been eating well. I was expecting to be able to assess if his appetite had returned, but no details were shared. I was able to watch the webcam and saw that he was playing, which was very good. I did call and ask about the report card halfway through my trip and was directed to the webcam. Again, I think my dog was cared for in a positive manner, but I would have appreciated the daily report. I would use this service again.

This was our first time boarding our 2 daschunds while we were away on a trip. We were really nervous about boarding them. We went in to see Pappy's for ourselves prior to booking, they showed us around and answered all our questions. We booked our stay for the dogs and reserved a window kennel so they could see outside. We had some bumps in the road initially that made us nervous about leaving them. Like having Lucy scheduled to be in the catery. They quickly resolved this issue. While we were away they called us to let us know that neither dog was eating. We were not surprised as they tend to do this in a new environment. They asked if they could try their food to help with the situation. We picked Memphis and Lucy up today. Nick helped check us out and was absolutely wonderful! He shared with us about their stay what went well and what didn't go so well. Like Lucy still not wanting to eat but they sat with her and hand fed her. This warmed my heart to know that they took that time to help her and were that caring of my fur baby. If we need to board again I will definitely be doing it here.

I’ve left my dog here a few times now & this last time specifically they told me changes they made to his routine based on his behavior changes from his last stay. This made me feel good because since I don’t drop my dog off for boarding frequently (maybe 2-3 days every other or every third month) I loved that they already understand his personality and addressed any discomfort or anxiety he had. when we called about his eating or sleeping, there was always a full explanation, we never got a “we’ll ask someone and call you back.” I feel very comfortable and at ease leaving my dog here. Pappys Richardson is always very clean as well, & my dog has never came back with any scratches, mood changes, digestion changes, just comes back tired from playing with the pups! We live in McKinney and still choose to use pappys Richardson over the closer boarding facilities near us.

This is boarding at the Richardson location: After several bad experiences with a boarder closer to my house, I randomly found Pappy's Pet Lodge and couldn't be happier. I travel a lot for work and have dropped off my GSD several times. I love the webcam so I can watch her play. The staff is amazing, with low turnover, and you can tell they truly love dogs - it's not just a job. It is easy to schedule an appointment, they have a reliable booking system (i.e., no "I don't see your reservation."), they know who you are when you call, it is as clean as you can keep a doggie day care, and they have good drop-off/pick-up hours. Good communication too: One time, my dog got a very minor bite (it happens) when I was on vacation and they called, sent pictures, and asked if I wanted her to go to the vet that is next door. (She was fine, but they wanted me to know.) The litmus test for me is Nola sprints to the front door when I drop her off because she knows her friends are inside, she jumps all over their staff (although she shouldn't), she never comes back skinny from not eating, she follows and engages with them all day during day care, and I'm not exactly sure she wants to leave with me when I pick her up because always makes an effort to go back inside.

This was a disappointing experience. The place is understaffed and it shows. One employee was working between 2 rooms constantly watching the other room through the window. I’m sure the employee worked hard… she was just in charge of too much for one person. We asked for our dog to have water breaks which they agreed to that never happened. I understand my dog has need and will not drink in front of other dogs, but no fresh water was available in the room and she was not taken out for any special breaks. She has a congenital kidney disease and she needs lots of water to ensure hydration. Don’t commit to something you cannot meet. And don’t take dogs in multiple rooms if you can’t staff 2 separate rooms. There were only 4 big dogs… so if you can’t staff it just don’t take the business. I would ask a lot of questions and will not be bringing my dog back. So unfortunate. I’m sure the employees try hard but it’s just too much for one person to bounce between 2 rooms. Webcams are public so watch for yourself before committing to drop your dog off.

I took my dog here for about 1.5 years off and on between 2020 and 2021. I have a mixed review about this place.Angie and some of the other staff were great. Angie especially was always very welcoming and you could tell she cared for all the dogs. My dog would get super excited when we arrived and would leave absolutely exhausted from playing all day.My concern is both the first and last time we went, my dog came home with a bite wound from another dog. The last time, the bite wound was a large gash that took a couple weeks to heal completely. I did not go back after this incident because I felt the day care was not safe :(.

My husband has used the Richardson location for day care, prior to us getting married. This was my first experience. The entrance smells awful.. even our vets office doesn’t smell like that. We picked up our dogs today and were handed their dirty bowls to take with us. No bag… and they bowls were wet. My female dog’s body smells like she slept in urine for a while. They are both starting to hack as if they are choking, now we have to go to the vet on Monday to see if they have kennel cough. We sadly had to discontinue services at another kennel for that reason. They are 100% up to date on their shots. We have only met one staff member who seemed to smile and care… Very disappointed in the whole experience.

I chose this Pappy’s because of it’s location (next to a gym, close to work and home), and I utilize their daycare services.Good things:1. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly2. They have a live feed camera linked to the website (as opposed to an app) so I can check in on my dog throughout the day and before I became a customer I could see how they operated.3. Drop off and pick up are typically quick (usually less than 5 minutes)4. They have daycare packages. The most expensive one ($950 for 50 days = $18 per day which is comparable to other day cares)Things I wish they had:1. Early drop off. I would pay extra to be able to drop my dog off at 6am to avoid traffic on 75.2. I wish the dogs had water bowls in the play rooms. I signed my dog up for extra water breaks but she’s still seemingly dehydrated/comes home and chugs a whole quart of water.3. I wish the cameras were at a better angle and in color. I can really only see her through camera two and it’s in black and white.4. I wish my dog could go inside and outside more freely. Being located in a strip mall prevents them from allowing the dogs to move freely from inside to outside throughout the day.Overall, I can’t complain and I recommend you try it out

I love taking my dog to Pappy’s. The prices are affordable and they keep me updated if my dog is having any problems. My dog always does boarding and if I ever need to add a extra day or two there is never a problem. The staff is always welcoming and my dog will continue to return to Pappy’s.

I love everyone at this location, they really treat my dog like he is their family too. When Ramsey was injured off site and needed emergency spinal surgery, they were so kind and followed his recovery. Angie, the manager is awesome! Love chatting with her at drop off and pick up everyday :)

I told the staff that my 33 lb dog needed to be in the large dog day care when I dropped her off. I saw on the cameras she was in the small dog day care. I called and asked that she be moved, and they did. The next day she was in the small dog day care again. They said they would call if there was a change and they didn’t. They are irresponsible and on top of not listening to their customers they do not play with the dogs in daycare. Watch the cameras.

So, I interviewed here today and my review is not gonna be pretty. Consumers, BE WARNED.So here's the story:I applied for the pet tech position, where the description is: Duties include: Cleaning, caring for pets – cleaning, walking, feeding, and interacting, professional and friendly communication with customers, managing dogs of all temperaments, some dog bathsSo, I apply and state that I have a disability on the form, and that it's a mobility issue in terms of range of motion. I get an email that asks me for an interview and states:"Working interviews take about 1 hour. We will have you shadow us while we do some cleaning and interacting with the dogs"So I go in, expecting that I'll be able to watch and see how and where I can fit into the company.I actually get there, and the manager says "I want you to clean these kennels, they get vacuumed, mopped and then you dry the floors." I said, "Okay, but I have a disability.." And she says, "Just do the best you can!" Really ableist and condescending. She had me do free labor. There was no shadowing, just me working. And after that, my hip has hurt the rest of the day.So, we take one dog out to go to the bathroom, and since the place is right off the highway, LITERALLY all they have back there is a concrete, fenced in slab, in the stifling heat.I only interacted with the dog a total of fifteen seconds, maybe, taking him in and out.So, then she sits down, asks me some questions, and I'm out the door. Not even close to thirty minutes. But the thing that's more disheartening is the back rooms look like a dog pound. You are trusting these people to take care of your pets, your loved ones, part of your family, and they're being taken to a back place with no explanation, no nothing, and put in cages. Some have rooms, sure. But the overall condition is so poor. My heart broke for these babies.Stay away from this place. Get someone to house sit for you, your dogs will be way better taken care of in an environment they're familiar with.

Visited after a mediocre experience elsewhere*. Immediately upon entering my dogs were greeted first and given a scratch. The staff offered a selection of treats and took time to go over pricing and options for us. We were shown cameras for the rooms and allowed to view for some time. The young lady at the front desk took time to answer all of my questions. Watching her interactions with other clients I saw no favoritism, each client was given equal attention, and a true happiness/desire to provide dogs and owners with a positive experience regardless of amount spent. I am booking my furrbabies here next time!!! It was amazing and the dogs were much happier both entering and leaving than elsewhere. (*elsewhere had minimum interaction between staff and dogs, no treats, no toys in playroom, and favoritism/more attention towards clients and their dogs if spending more money).

We have been taking our "boys" to Pappy's in Richardson for over 2 years. They have done a great job of taking care of them, they always come home happy and very rested from all of the play they have enjoyed in day care and being around the team that takes care of them. The folks at Pappy's take a genuine interest in the care of our dogs, and are always excited to see them. I'm sure our guys are challenging at times, but you would never know if from how the team at Pappy's treats us when we go to pick them up.We are completely comfortable and confident in leaving them there for daycare, overnight or extended stays as well. They also offer grooming, which we have taken advantage of on several occasions. We and our boys highly recommend the professional care that Pappy's provides.

I love taking my dog, Sasha, to this Pappy's Pet Lodge location for doggie daycare. It's conveniently located on my way to work and the process to drop her off is quick and easy. They always take care of her and she has a great time. When I pick her up she is normally very worn out, which is a good thing! They let the dogs play for a long time and they also allow them time for lunch and naps. The people are nice and the price isn't too bad. Also, you can check up on your pup by viewing their webcam! Sasha normally sleeps in the car when I pick her up and passes out again once we get home. A tired dog is a happy dog and I can tell she has a good time at Pappy's Pet Lodge! I'd definitely recommend this place!

We take our dogs Buckley and Tilly here often because we travel a lot and they always take great care of them! Buckley gets to play with the other kids all day and is super tired when he comes home. Tilly is a walk alone dog as they call it and they take caution in accommodating this for us which gives us peace of mind when we travel. This last stay we finally caved and paid for a bath at the end of the stay and the dogs were so clean and pretty! I definitely recommend them!

The Richardson location took care of my bird for 3 weeks. Teri took the bird in, made sure she understood all my requirements, and seemed to fulfill all of them in the 3 weeks I was gone. very caring staff. would do it again

First experience using Pappys. I was impressed at first with the staff’s friendliness and reasonable pricing that came with multiple options but my mind was changed for me soon after. Both of my dogs came home with kennel cough after their stay. All dogs are required to be current on vaccines and while it does not 100% prevent I feel this should not happened. My older dog is 8 years old and this kind of disease can be fatal. After talking with 3 separate staff members no one seemed to be concerned with assisting with any of aftermath or even a lousy refund. A simple 3 day stay has now turned into $500+ worth of vet bills and 2 very sick fur babies

I would like to say that this doggy daycare is excellent! My dog, BoBo, loves coming here and it is very good for him. He is a big, lab/boxer mix and very active and loves playing with the other dogs. When I take him, I just open my car door and he jumps out of the car, runs to the door, then runs to the people in the office and to the door to go play! I tried another daycare because of longer hours, but I could tell he did not like it as much as Pappy's. I will never take him anywhere else! I can tell that the staff at Pappy's really cares about the dogs and he knows he is loved by them. This makes a big difference and I feel very comfortable leaving my dog here.

My kitten wasn't having any of it but the staff member and environment was warm and welcoming. When I came to pick him up, he still was not having any of it so the staff member said she might need me to put him in his carrier. While I understand ALL the reasons why customers wouldn't be allowed in the animal care area, I can't help but feel slightly uneasy when I am prohibited. I appreciate her thoughtfulness in the safety and well being of my kitten (and herself, I'm sure) so much that, if necessary, I could place him his carrier.

Everyone we encountered here seemed very friendly. The facility was clean. There's plenty of grass in front of the building. We watched the webcams and the dogs seem to enjoy it and the staff were engaged with the dogs, even if that just meant walking around for the small dogs, lol. Our pets, one cat and one dog, came back whole and healthy. They both have food that requires extra effort that Pappy's was able to accommodate without any issues. The only reason I'm leaving 4* instead of 5* is because I would love to see more effort in the cattery. Pappy's definitely has more than some other places in the area, but it's still a very small room and the cats don't get much space. Though considering they usually just sleep all day anyway, it works out.

Needed long term (5 months) boarding for our Akita while we live in a nearby hotel and she loves this place. And so do we. The play area for day care is inside and they are temporarily without a trainer or groomer but Angie sees to it that the dogs enjoy their stay. Highly recommend.

We stopped going because they are understaffed and at times seemed lazy. They kept locking my Dog up because she was "too hyper and doing Zoomies" (where they run back and forth- I had to ask what that meant). No one called me to tell me, I found out watching the cameras. When I called and asked them to do an extra walk they said they were short staffed and didn't have the manpower. This happened multiple times. If you have an old or low energy Dog- this is the place. The establishment itself is too small and I don't like that the Dogs don't have access to water during playtime. This means they have to go around from kennel to kennel to Water the Dogs when they seem to always be understaffed. We found a place that has a 3 strike rule before being banished to a room and my Dog has never had problem at the new place. Needless to say, we wont be going back.

Great service! My pup was in and out in just a few hours and he looks great, smells great, and wasn’t overly exhausted when he got home, as is the case so often with groomers in our experience. We will be continuing to take our guy to Pappy’s.

They take great care of my dog Landry whenever we travel 3-4 times a year. She is a senior and requires a lot of eye drops, but the staff is so polite and more than happy to take care of her extra needs. She always looks great after Misty does her summer haircut too!

I've been trying to get my BF puppy back every since he took him up there. My friend took the dog to the clinic because Braxton (the puppy) was crying and he didn't know what happened that cause him to cry so he panicked took him to the clinic early in the morning and dropped him off but instead of staying he just was scared and left. He then called back to check on the puppy to get information but this is where he started getting the run around as to the where Braxton was. They had us checking the Richardson pet shelter and nothing was there then they said the store next door Pappys pet lodge had him and they said no. Long story short I can't seem to get anyone to help me get our puppy back home. Pappys and the 24 hr animal hospital both haven't been helpful. My BF did something wrong yes but that's on him. We never have neglected Braxton and all I want at this point is Braxton back and home, however I keep getting the run around. I've called and spoken with people there at 1 am and 7 am trying to get him home but all I get is a smart comments from an employee. I will not recommend bringing any pet here if they can't be honest.

Boarded my dog for 11 days. Included playing in the doggie day care. Observed her via webcam. She was having fun and made friends. She was happy to see me when I picked her up. Tge technician told me how well behaved and sweet she was. She was bathed, had trimmed nails and smelled good. I definately will board here again.
