This was my experience at Barrel House today. I called them this morning asking if they had any fresh round bales that weren’t wet or moldy since we needed to feed it to our horses which are more sensitive to mold. The young man on the phone assured me they just got some in and it wasn’t wet. So I went and purchased a round bale and upon unloading it at home we immediately noticed a large wet and muddy section of the hay. Just a quick inspection made it obvious this hay had mold. I called the shop and asked if I could return the moldy hay, to which they agreed. I pulled up to the store and they said they would actually not refund my money because I had already cut it open and so they could not resell it. Which tells me they wanted to resell the moldy hay to next customer that comes along but now they can’t. I asked what they were willing to refund to make this right and he offered $60 if I leave the bale there, for which I had paid $154. So I declined (not wanting to have $94 stolen from me) and I brought the hay home, hoping I could salvage some of the inner layers. However, once I got home and unraveled it, this is worst bale I have ever seen in my life, covered in mold at every layer until about the inner 12 inch core that was left. Selling this bad of hay is one thing, but not being willing to make this right is the main reason this review is needed for others to be aware of. The staff was nice and our conversation was cordial, but this is not okay.

I've never shopped here. But every time I've gone in for a friend or with my boss it looks like they would have what your looking for. Seems like nice people and good products.🤷‍♀️

I love this staff. Everyone is caring. Lol. Years back they had a large open snack display where you would grab a bag and then pay at the register. The type the hardware stores would display screws. When you have a 120lb dog it was impossible for me to pry him off a smorgasbord. Not sure if it was because of beau or many dog who helped themselves. All I could do was leave a 10 and hope it covered it. I love this place and of course so does my beau.

I buy my rabbit’s hay, pellets and occasionally chicken feed from here. I bought my first really big trough a couple years ago, was so impressed by the customer service that I kept going back. Everyone is so nice, kind of chatty(which I truly love), they always have everything I need and the prices are very very good.

What a great little store. A little bit of everything so you don't have to drive into the bigger towns for your needs. Pet food is always fully stocked. Farm animal and wildlife food is loaded for you by the staff. Large variety of hardware that covers just about anything you'd need. There is even quikrete, fertilizer, soil and sand. Several options for organic in both animal feed and garden needs. If you haven't stopped in to take a look, I highly reccomend.

At first I was skeptical to come into this store, but now this will be the only feed store I will come to. I had a wonderful experience truly helpful and knowledgeable friendly people. They help me find the perfect dog food for my puppy, after she was done eating her first bull she was begging for seconds! This makes me extremely happy because she hasn't been wanting to eat any dog food for a while and this formula is perfect for me! I would recommend anyone to come here for pet supplies or even home supplies. Thank you very much!

Excellent country hardware store. They have a surprising variety of hardware, plumbing and electrical supplies. They also have a good selection of hand tools. They carry a lot of different feeds as well. Service is great. I always like visiting there.

Bought some meat there two days ago. One of the best roasts I ever made. Could cut it with a fork. Roast for supper and beef tacos for breakfast. Yummy. Thanks for great service along with the smiles.

I live in Lakehills and ran out of dog 🐕 food I normallyget it in town, I keep forgetting. First time at Barrel house 2 very nice lady's help me out with choosing a new dog food it was a hit my dog loved it ill Definitely be coming back here cat 🐈 great prices.

Super friendly staff but they ran out of hay which is typical this time of year but I wish they would stick to posted hours .. there been a few times where the hours didn't match up on weekends and that is my fault should of made time to swing by during the week lesson learned

We get all of our corn and bird feed there and have no complaints at all. It's handicap accessible and they have some neat stuff in there including Birds

The Barrel House Feed and Supply is great. That's where I buy my feed, however that isn't where I was. I was drinking coffee at Snowflake Donuts on the other side of the Barrel House Convenient store from the feed store. Snowflake Donuts is fantastic btw.
