Our GSP did the 3 month course and has done amazing in the field as both a pointer and retriever. The best part is still the same lovable dog he was when he started. The staff there is all very caring and we can tell they enjoyed working with him as much as he enjoyed them. Highly recommend them for any training your pup may need!!!

We have been very pleased with the job that Pecan Hill (Tiffany especially) did with obedience training with our Lab, Charlie. She is a great dog now, and much of the credit goes to PHK! I would highly recommend them and will use them in the future.

We have now had two dogs (and three cousin dogs) complete the two month training @ Pecan Hill and are very pleased. Pups came back home very well-mannered w/personalities intact! Communication was very good with the staff, we felt they treated our dogs extremely well and they were very careful with them in this Texas heat.

We have a Chocolate lab/golden retriever mix who did obedience training here. I did extensive research to identify Pecan Hill Kennels. What led me here was word of mouth recommendations from people I trust that was reinforced by recommendations from random folks that I met in good circles. All the folks I spoke with raved about Pecan Hill’s obedience training. Our puppy lived there for 6 weeks and the results were astounding. This was the best investment we could have made to ensure our dog was instilled with the skills needed to be a life long member of our family. Our dog is so well behaved now, I can honestly say I can’t imagine him being any better (not that he’s perfect but he’s close enough for us). Pete and his family do an amazing job. I wouldn’t think twice about recommending Pecan Hill Kennel’s obedience training. If you are fortunate enough to happen across Pecan Hill for obedience training, do yourself a favor and bite the bullet...you’ll be happy you did.

My Rottweiler zena loves pecan hill and so do I! They take such good care of your pets and their training programs are perfect. Zena is on her 3rd training sessions and getting smarter each time. 10/10 recommend boarding/training your pets here!

Definitely will be coming back here!! I am very cautious about who takes care of my dogs and where they go so when I found this place and read the good reviews I knew I had to check it out and I’m glad I did!! I got a tour of the kennel and it seemed very safe and sturdy and well kept from what I saw. My boys went and spent a long weekend with them and when I picked them up their goodies were all ready to be put in the care and they were bathed, happy and ready to go home. I am very very pleased with the care and love my boys received, Thank you PHK!!🐾💗

We discovered Pecan Hill Kennels last year and could not have had a better experience. We had Llewellyn Setters for over 30 years and as of a few years ago, we now have 2 young labs, one, our first, which was particularly out of control and setting a new standard for being hard headed. The difference between the Llewellyn’s and the labs is like night and day. The Llewellyn’s were very low maintenance, versus the young labs, which we dearly love, but are also the incredible challenge, not impossible, but close to it.Last year we left these two problem children with Pete, Leslie, Meghan, and Mike for about 3 weeks while we were on vacation and came back to well trained, well healed, under control new dogs. They not only amazed us with the obedience training and results, but also with the introduction to the gun and live birds. Our out of control monster turned into a lean mean hunting machine, who seems to be a natural, with the help and work that Pecan Hill was able to accomplish in a very short time. This year we just returned from picking up these two from another 3 week stay and refresher course with Pecan Hill. Same kind of results and again, we could not be happier with what they have done for us and the dogs. We consider their services a steal and would not even begin to think about taking them anywhere else.I bought into to Pecan Hill when I had my first qualifying call with Megan last year. It was clear to me in that conversation that they love the dogs and do this in pursuit of their love and their passion for our harry four legged family members and not just for the money. Game over. That did it for me and has worked out, exceeding our expectations ever since.

The Owners and staff at pecan Hill kennels go over and beyond. We only live a few miles away and we have Labs That like to roam every so often, If given a chance they return on their own back to the kennel. The staff takes them in and takes care of them till we can get there… This tells me this is their second home. They have worked with us in tight situations and Have always been accommodating. I highly recommend using their facility

We cannot express sufficiently how pleased and amazed we are with Pecan Hill Kennels. Great people and great venue. We first learned of PHK when we purchased our black lab puppy at a charity auction for Rice University. Training at Pecan Hill was part of the package. We were at first a bit reluctant to drive all the way out past the Brookshire area, but upon arrival we could not believe how beautiful the grounds are: rolling meadows, trees, swimming ponds, etc. The folks operating Pecan Hill are quintessential "dog people" who clearly care about their work and know what they're doing. Very professional and very personable. They engendered such confidence that we later brought our older black lab in for some "refresher" training along side the new puppy. Now, when we travel on an extended trip, we board our dogs at Pecan Hill. While there are numerous local Houston kennels where we could board the dogs, we feel the two-hour round trip drives to drop off and pick up are worth the effort. -- After all, our hounds are family! We now refer to Pecan Hill as "puppy camp" when telling our dogs we're bringing them out there. .... This last week we brought our dogs, now three in number, for another stay at puppy camp. All clearly had a great time. There's no question we'll be bringing them out to Pecan Hill the next time we travel.

Took my 1 year old lab to be boarded for 13 days, picked up with sores on feet, legs, face, butt and 20 lbs lighter. He was to be kept with walks, food, bathing etc... what a terrible feeling to see what happened to him in a short 13 days that must have been hellish for him. Would NEVER go back and want to warn other dog owners about subjecting pets to this place. Wish I would have been able to go with my wife to pick him up...bet they would not have shocked him more than once with me there. .

Pete and Leslie and their family run a great dog kennel and training operation. Our dog is always happy to be dropped off...happy when we return! Wonderful operation about an hour outside of Houston.

What a difference 12 weeks make. Yep, 12 weeks! I think most "normal" dogs require 6 weeks of obedience training, but we weren't dealing with a "normal" dog. I've had labs all of my life, and this time, I got dealt the most stubborn, unremorseful, disobedient, Alpha female I'd ever come across. She ate walls, woke up barking in her kennel at 3:00 a.m., stole things which weren't hers which she also destroyed, jumped up on kitchen counters (all the way up!), and would now come when called. The worst problem was her intolerance for dogs outside of our own. She wanted to dominate them, and she sounded pretty serious about it. We sent her to Pecan Hill, and made scheduled visits to work with her. We saw progress with each visit. At week 9, she came home, but her evilness and dominance was still an issue with one dog in our "pack". We called Pete, Leslie and Meghan, and they told us to bring her back as soon as we could. She spent 3 more weeks there (at no extra cost to us), and learned how to be a lady. She came home with a loaned collar, until we got our own. (Sorry, if you don't believe in these, you don't know my dog! The power it has over her JUST WEARING IT, is AMAZING!) We couldn't be happier with the results our young, yellow lab now exhibits, and definitely owe it to the fine staff at Pecan Hill!

I live in Houston and love to travel. Pecan Hill Kennel has been a godsend for me and my growing puppy. This is a family owned and operated business with great people, a beautiful facility, and reasonable prices.Meaghan gave my little guy all the extra attention he wanted in his early months while I was away on business.Michael and Pete invested a lot of time into his obedience training during his stays at PHK. I can now walk him off leash downtown and take him into a bar, sit and drink a beer, and have no problems. He follows me everywhere I go.Lindsey is so sweet and is always there to answer questions about his medications and how he is doing.I won't board my Dogo Argentino, Spuds, anywhere else.

WONDERFUL place!!! My Lab pup is now all set to continue his training as a PTSD service dog for me. He was happy and bright when I saw him, yet no longer so over exuberant that I was a little afraid of walking him. Very well behaved and calm yet personality plus as always. In addition, I was very sick for several months and hospitalized, and when they couldn't get a hold of me (my phone number had changed - my fault for not updating them), they went to all ends of the earth to track me down. They went WAY above the call of duty in that regard. I had them take care of my other three dogs, and they looked great at the end of the three+ months. They kept my older two in the house, which I appreciated to no end, and they managed my 14 year old Lab's incontinence in stride. Couldn't ask for a better place for my dogs - I'm relatively new to Houston, and now I have a great place for my dogs when I go on vacay. THANK YOU PHK!!!

Pete has trained two of my hunting dogs, an English Setter and German Shorthair. Both dogs loved the place and training was outstanding. Highly recommend this Kennel.

The place was not up to humane standards. When you walk in, the people seem very happy and kind. I was looking for training for my dog who is medium sized to small. He is a great dog, but is not for hunting and has a problem with pooping all over the house which they said they would be glad to fix. Part of the process, from what I saw, is to make the dogs sleep uncomfortably in order to make them less high maintenance and easier to train. I was not seeking an easy dog to train for hunting because this dog would not hunt ever as he is a pomeranian. They told us that he would have special care so that he does not lose his confidence, which we love, and that he would only be trained to be dog of a non-hunting, calm, go for a walk family that enjoys affection and personality. We came to visit, so I am unsure but they might have made it nicer. Even though they might have made it nicer, it was horrific. It was raining and when we walked out we saw this scruffy dog that was shivering and being yanked a lot. We walked right by because we knew it was not our dog, but funny enough it was. They were teaching him to sit after having his leash was yank up and part of this process is choking him so he obeys which is understandable but I did not like it that much. The sick part was that he was shivering and it was almost hailing and he was walking on gravel. What made me very upset, was that they made me yank his neck as well as my terrified kids. They made him go for these walks and when he would stray off, we would see him shake and then come back after a button was pressed. They would say no while they pushed this button which was usually hidden from sight and in their pocket. The man said, "You see, when you tell him no and give a small pull, he will stop and follow. It is baloney when these dogs do this." Well I think if you give him a good shock, you do not need to tell him no. During our lessons on walking that were full of shocks, we saw that the dogs that were in their cages, were being sprayed by hoses. Finally after the awful walking outside, we went inside and gave our dog whom we had not seen for a while, some affecting. When he was dried off, by us with our own towel, we saw that he had lost 4 pounds from his original 14. The people told us that he stayed in the house, but he had his own cage that he went right to (they told us his warm bath was next once we left) as we left the room and walked to our car. The rest is too long to say. When we picked him up, he was always licking his feet. When we took him to the doctor, three days later, we were told he had an infection and the total cost was $400 to get him fixed on top of the kennel fee which we payed in full. When we got home, we noticed he hd lost most of his personality and the minute we left, he took a poop in the living room. We got nothing out of the training except for a sad dog and $1,500 out of our pocket. My kids have never forgotten about the time they had to walk him in the freezing cold rain on the hard gravel while he was shocked. I do not recommend this lace for anyone who values the way their dogs personality is because they lose it all when they get back and have no training. The people are not always honest and you will pay expensive vet fees and buy medicine when your done, as I have found four people that had the same issue except they had bigger dogs. I highly do not recommend this place for any dog and think what they do is absolutely awful and horrific.

Was in serious need of a place to house my Rottie as we transition from Florida. They met my little girl and took her in. I am so blessed to have met them and they are working with us as we look for a home to bring her too. Thank GOD I almost lost my Rottie.
