Tuesday Nov 14 had to have my 17 year old Corgi euthanized—unfortunately he had become immobile and was struggling to do anything—-after 17 years of having him as my companion dog on a daily basis through heart failure, 3 heart attacks, and a stroke this was the hardest decision I’ve ever made. Being from Houston didn’t have a vet here—called and made arrangements to bring him in. Dr and his nurse came out to vehicle to administer drugs—they were very compassionate to make sure he was no longerin pain. This was the best outcome I could have expected as he passed peacefully. I would like to express my wife’s and my gratitude for the way the people at Palestine Veterinary Hospital handled this situationThanks againRobert and Gayla Cutrer

I won't list my many MANY reasons I dislike this place and this veterinarian-on second thought, dislike is still too nice to describe him. But I will say of the 10 animals I do have, I will NEVER go back to this man.Just a warning to people...if your cat dies in their office, they have you pick her up in a trash bag!

On August 21st, my cat Callisto had passed. I cannot express how thankful I am for this vet trying everything that they could. I had called 4 other vets that morning and they could not take him, though I expressed something was very wrong. Yall made sure he was taken care of, and sympathetic. It was a rough day but there are no words to express how thankful I am. I received a condolence card in the mail, and it made me feel a little better, because to me it showed you cared even though it wasnt your animal. Thank you to the staff who was caring and gentle to my baby in his final moments

Our dog was taken to Dr. Hart some MONTHS ago for an ear mite infestation. His left ear was oozing pus. The doctor quickly looked at it and prescribed an antibiotic, but he did not prescribe an ear mite medication which was the root cause of the infection. Dr. hart seems to love money more than his animal patients.

I have been going to Dr Hardt for 20-25 years. Throughout the years he had been good to my first dogs that I had. Two dachshunds. About 3 years ago I took my English Bulldog to him who was having head tremors, drooling uncontrollably, panting and falling over. He put him on seizure medicine. My dog died of a heart attack. Misdiagnosis. I still took my other dog to him. Today we went to get a refill on her heartworm medication that she has been on for 11 years. They refused to sell them to me unless she got tested for heart worms. I do not see why I need to pay $ for a test I know will be negative. He would have rather her go without her pills and get heartworms than sell me her pill. I had enough. I took her records and took her to another clinic. They saw her records and had me sign a waiver from taking the test and gave me 3 months of her heartworm pills. It’s all about money with him.

Dr. Hardt is the only Veterinarian that my family trust to take care of our animals. He and his team are so kind and gentle with our cats and dogs. Just got our new kitty, Frankie, home from being spayed. They took such great care of her and we had complete faith in them to care for her during an overnight stay. We highly recommend Palestine Veterinary Hospital for anyone who loves their pets and needs a Vet they can trust. Thank you all for taking care of Frankie and making sure she came home safe and sound!

Dr. Hardt and his team are so compassionate, professional, and just really good human beings. It is obvious that they love animals and truly care about the families that they take care of. When we had to make the gut-wrenching decision to say goodbye to our beloved pit bull, Capone, they made the situation so much easier with their compassionate care and loving words. They took great care of our dog Bruno. Bruno lived 14 yesrs and they took great care of him most of his life. When he past they even mailed us a card which everyone signed that made us feel a little better. Now they are Carrying for our new fur baby Bo. I trust them 100% with any animal i have. We have been coming here for about a year. All 4 of our pets have met Dr. Hardt at least once since we've moved here. The staff are always so kind and caring, they listen to our concerns and do everything they can to help us. Most of our visits were for our cat that had trouble breathing. We now know he has asthma. They agreed to see us at the last minute in the middle of one of his asthma attacks. Dr. Hardt got him on the right medication to help him, and he has never been better. He is a whole new cat. They even offered to board our cats when we were gone for vacation, to ensure our baby was getting his meds while we were gone! I definitely recommend coming to these guys. Very sweet ladies.

I was sent here when I tried to rescue a little kitten from the humane society observation room. She was only 4 weeks old and hadn’t received her shots, and was technically too young to get them yet (although the shelter here in Palestine should vaccinate sooner upon intake because of rampant illness and poor handling in the facility, but that’s another story).The vet cares about animals and is compassionate. He discovered our little girl had FPV/panleukopenia and, at her age and with no vaccines, it’s all but a guaranteed death sentence. Still, he tried standard supportive therapy because I wanted to give her a chance to fight it.Anything but supportive treatment like fluids and antibiotics to fight secondary infection is experimental and, although I was reaching for anything to increase her odds, I knew they were poor regardless, especially at her age and weight. I trusted his experience with treating the virus and appreciated that he tried despite the odds.We came in unscheduled at opening two days in a row and he saw her immediately. He took care of her during the day and even took her home on the night of her death to continue her care.We have far too much experience with needing treatment for sick animals and can say he definitely did not overcharge us; if anything, he undercharged for his time. We loved that little girl despite only knowing her a week, and to see her become paralyzed and push her face around in her food bowl, starving but unable to open her mouth to eat, was heartbreaking. I’ll probably always be traumatized by the screams she let out anytime we left her side.The only comfort is knowing we did everything we could to give her a chance, and she wasn’t alone in a shelter when she passed. She was with a vet who was trying his best. I don’t know if her ultimate passing was completely natural or if she reached a point where the suffering was too much but, either way, I’m thankful for all he did and that she is no longer suffering and didn’t have to be completely alone in her last hours.My only criticism is that I wasn’t notified of her passing until I called in the next morning. Maybe because he didn’t have my number, I don’t know.Anyway, a good, honest vet who won’t give false hope just for profit, so recommended. Sometimes there’s just nothing that can be done to save an animal. The fact he tried without overcharging/exploiting, despite knowing the odds, and didn’t simply recommend to give up, tells me he truly cares about the lives of animals and respects their owners.Zelda’s resting under the giant tree in our back yard now, and knowing she wasn’t alone on the day she passed makes it a little easier to accept she’s gone.

We had been taking our dogs to this vet but when My dog suddenly had a seizure and was unable to walk, we called and the girl who answered was rude, and said the dr was headed to lunch and that he wouldn’t have time to see her at all. Don’t waste your time building history with him if he won’t even see you during emergent times.

We've been using Dr. Hardt for several years. We've been extremely pleased with him and all of our pets love him. He's extremely gentle with our little doxies .Recently we found a stray that we decided to foster. He appeared to have been dumped and had an injured leg. Turns out he's also heart worm positive (which is probably why he was dumped) and Dr. Hardt explained the options. We decided to go with treatment for him since he is such a good dog.I would have no qualms recommending Dr. Hardt and Palestine Veterinary Hospital to anyone.
