Got that brisket plate. That brisket was good, real good, but it was almost more like roast beef than smoked brisket. That potato salad is the ticket and the coleslaw will make you want more. That bread slice must have been homemade, it was tasty. The BBQ sauce wasn’t too good. The cherry cobbler was real good. The price was right and you’ll get more food than you should probably eat at one shot.

My husband and I stopped in on the last Saturday of 2023 for lunch while on a holiday road trip. I ordered brisket and sausage and double coleslaw, lemonade, and peach cobbler. All was delicious! My husband got pulled pork and beans and was a little sorry he didn’t get the brisket—not that the pulled pork wasn’t good, it was—but the brisket was outstanding! I traded some of my meat with his so we could both have some of everything and it was plenty! We set up at a picnic table outside to eat. The place was once a gas station and there’s no indoor dining. There’s a few tables outside beside the building. We had our own tablecloth with us since we’d been picnicking all along our road-trip, so that was handy I guess many locals probably take their food home to eat it. The bathroom was nice and clean. One of the owners came out to say hello and offered our little dog a treat. He introduced himself and we had a nice conversation, mostly about days gone by in central Texas. Our dog was happy to have extra attention. If you’re driving through Ozona, TX and need a place to eat or want to pick up a meal to go, try Wagon Wheel BBQ. The food is good and the people are friendly.

If you ever go through Ozona and don’t stop at Wagon Wheel BBQ, you will miss out on THE BEST brisket you have ever had! We were traveling through on our move from FL to El Paso and have never had Texas BBQ before. I will never want any other kind of BBQ again! My husband had the chicken wrap and also said it was very delicious and full of flavor. What a gem! 💎

Mmmmm good!!!! We wanted to get authentic Texas barbecue food and we found it! The brisket sandwich was perfect and HUGE! 😋 I also ordered a side of potato salad which was delicious and plentiful; a lot like my mom's potato salad. My husband ordered a pork spare ribs plate which included beans, cole slaw, and dessert. He had the peach cobbler. It was very good although I didn't think it was made with fresh peaches (they're out of season now).We enjoyed the"elegant outdoor dining" sitting at a picnic table in the shade of a pecan tree. Eventually we were joined by a group of German tourists, among whom three out of the four were physicists. It made for a very interesting conversation and a wonderful relaxing time at the Wagon Wheel BBQ.

Husband and wife duo. He makes the proteins. She makes the sides and dessert. No inside eating area. Several picnic tables outside with a fan. Otherwise we were all eating in our vehicles.Sausage was delicious – but comes from Austin.Brisket was pretty good.We were not huge fans of the macaroni salad or potato salad.Peach cobbler was good. Wish I would’ve tried the cherry cobbler.Lemonade was ok.Pay no attention to the interior “decor”. If you’re traveling in the area and hungry, it’s worth a quick stop.Parking: Basic gas station gravel parking. If you’re trailering, it will be much more difficult.

In the west Texas town of Ozona, a town you travel through not to, is the most unassuming but freaking delish bbq. 2 blocks off I 10, Wagon wheel BBQ has turned an old gas station location into a must stop site to pick up your favorite cut of meat. There is a shelfof relics to ponder as you wait for your order. Very reasonably priced for full plate or sandwiches combo. Delish smoked chicken and brisket was on our sandwich picks. Sides of coleslaw and potato salad did not disappoint. And we just couldn’t resist- peach cobblerfor dessert. I’d order it all again (and will). Upon leaving the pit masterwas prepping his next stack of wood to keep the fire smokin’. Don’t miss Wagon Wheel!

If you want great food, this is the place in Ozona. Do not waste your time and money on “fast to the grave” fast food. I ordered the brisket plate and added sausage to it. The brisket is perfectly smoked. I’ve been places across the country that serve either brisket which is too lean or too fatty, but not here. The smoked sausage tastes amazing and the staff is friendly and comforting with making sure you are fed right. I highly suggest that if you want food which will make your heart (and your stomach sing) then stop by here when traveling through. You will not regret it and your tastebuds will thank you for it.

Barbecue definitely worth the detour. It is a former old gas station, and its second life still radiates that vibe. Brisket is outstanding, tender and flavorful. Don't let the small smoke ring fool you! Sausage portion is small but worth it. Potato salad and macaroni salad are mayo based and lots of cracked pepper. The slaw is a creamy vinegar, only mildly tart. Peach cobbler is definitely canned peaches, but the homemade batter makes up for that. Have I mentioned that your bread slice is homemade too?? Soft and buttery. Our truck and trailer fit in the empty church parking on the Santa Rosa street next door, but there is also a small Pilot across the not-busy highway if you prefer, and lots of standard parking. The single restroom is probably almost identical to its gas station days, except clean and smells perfectly fine.

We had chopped brisket sandwiches, potato salad, and beans. The brisket had an amazing bark and super tender and juicy on the inside. It was a fine chop which I like because you get an even texture and mix of bark, meat, and fat in every bite. the potato salad was almost like eating a baked potato it was very good. We did have a slice of apple cobbler which could improve but the BBQ was on point!

So amazing! I stopped here with a bus full of kids, and not only were they very accommodating, but the food was great. All of the students enjoyed their food, and loved hanging out outside in the relaxed atmosphere. The kids and adults both gave raving reviews for the brisket plates, potato salad, and sandwiches :) highly recommend this stop on I-10.

Super yummy home style family BBQ joint. Great service, and worth the 2 min detour on a road trip. Very dog friendly with quaint outdoor seating area and easy parking. The chopped brisket sandwich was great, and so was the Texas hot link. Good sauce on the side, and a classic, humble bun as the vessel for your beefy, direct fired live oak brisket. Would stop again :)

There were not a lot of options to eat in this area. So we were pleasantly surprised to find this little barbecue spot. They have a mom and pop kind of operation here. They have already cooked the meats and have them sitting pre-sliced in warmers inside the building. They've got a cute little set up outside to hang out in a tables. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean and no stinky smell. They have cute little decorations just to make the place welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend it for a stop. We did not have the sausage which looked really good. We had the brisket and the pinto beans and coleslaw and they were all delicious. They went well together because they had pre-sliced the brisket so it was a little bit drier than places that cut it as you order. But combined with the pinto beans and the coleslaw it really worked well.

Good Texas BBQ. I had pulled pork, wife had the brisket. Both were well smoked and not overly seasoned. We had macaroni salad and potato salad, both looked freshly made. The macaroni salad had pieces of red pepper that really added a good, unique flavor. Price seemed a little high at first but you get a drink and a dessert included, which made it pretty standard price for a one meat plate. Also, there was a lot of meat on both of ours. Definitely more than most BBQ joints. Came with a pickle spear, sliced onions and a slice of homemade bread which was real good and a nice touch. There's no seating inside, but there's a couple of picnic tables outside. We are just passing through, but we would come here again the next time.

All the good things people say are true. Really courteous and kind family service. Pork ribs were barky and super tender. I disagree with most peoples criticism of the sides, I liked the heavy seasoning. Cobbler had a great sweet/savory balance. I will reiterate a great tip below: there is nowhere comfortable to eat here, I took it down the road to the chamber of commerce where there are nice shaded picnic tables.

We stopped at Wagon Wheel en route to Big Bend. It’s a quaint little shop that appeared to be carry out only due to COVID.Sausage was right in the middle of the bell curve in terms of flavor and texture. Perfectly decent, but nothing to write home about. 🐖 I felt the same way about the potato salad.I did, however, have major regret after taking a bite of sister’s chopped brisket sandwich. I won’t forget that one smoky and tender bite of meat. 🐄 I almost aborted the sausage mission to order my own sandwich but they were sold out p.s. - there’s also a vending machine for ice on the property that’s great for road trippers 👌🏻

GREAT BBQ and very nice folks! Generous portions of tender, delicious meats with fantastic potato salad. Found a pecan tree on the way to the clean restroom around back and they gave us permission to gather some pecans to take back home. Will be back next time through!

It's counter serve with some picnic tables outside. Brisket was charred just right with good flavor, having the option for a wrap instead of a sandwich made for a relatively mess-free lunch. The potato salad was a little dill heavy. Overall we'll definitely stop again if we're in the area.

Hole in the wall place but exactly what we were looking for. Ribs and pulled pork to die for. Beans and brisket could use some more seasoning but other than that we’d go again!!Cute lil swing on the side and perfect spot to walk my dog. Headed to Houston so perfect stop!

Yeah, it's a weird looking spot for sure... Don't let that fool you. Tasty BBQ. Brisket was great and chicken was possibly the best wood flavoring I've ever had. Pricing in line, sides are what you'd expect and nothing special, portions are solid.

Phenomenal BBQ. I travel a LOT and have had BBQ from all over the US. This is hands down the best I've had in Texas. It's definitely worth the stop. We got there right at opening, and the que was so fresh. Smoked to perfection. The pulled pork has a beautiful char and smoke flavor. The chopped brisket was well seasoned, and the flavor was outstanding. I ate over an hour ago and can still taste the flavor of the meat. Mouthwatering. If they don't do competitions already, they really should. It'll win awards for sure.

Very small local bbq joint. Looks dated and could use a remodel. I would assume it is family operated. The food is really good- has a home cooked feel to it. The staff was very nice. Everything is homemade, even desserts. The set up is very small, tables mismatch, and food is kept in view in warmers. To use restrooms you need the key and have to go outside and around the side of the building- they are clean.
